Going through the thread now, so something might change in the next 60+ pages, but this would be fecking awesome. Even though I pretty much hated PSG until yesterday.

PSG not in the super league because their owner is worry about Qatar World Cup and nothing else.

Without PSG and Bayern, it will look like they just ran away because they were too incompetent to ever hope to defeat the top 2 of last year’s CL. Like they just upped and took their ball with them while sulking like a kid whose pride got hurt.

No one bothered to kick up much of a fuss when the Qatar World Cup was announced which was clearly a money deal. Where was this major concern when the likes of Blatter and Platini were accepting bribes.

Where was this major fuss when the TV money sky rocketed for the club's at the top end, or when the likes of United, PSG, City, Real Madrid etc have been spending hundreds of millions for years, while smaller clubs are suffering.

I don't see this major concern when Messi or Ronaldo or Neymar etc are on half a million quid a week while small local clubs are struggling financially.

What are you talking about? The whole conversation on football throughout the last 30 years is about how much money the players earn and how corrupt uefa and fifa are. This is worse than anything we've seen don't put out fake narratives.

It's infuriating that we had a very good chance of a trophy this season and it may have been pissed away for this shit.
I hope it will turn the fans and the protests start again. Woodward and Glazers deserve all the shit that will be coming their way, even though not too much will change, they feel the heat

You're one to talk about fools if you think the ESL becomes any better by UEFA being bad.

I didn't realise my post said that. The point is why have people not taken a stance on money ruining the game before now? Small clubs have been getting hit financially for years while money at the top has been out of control for years. People didn't really give a shit about that before, but now they apparently do?

As much as I'd like to see it happen, I can't see how UEFA or the PL could punish the clubs involved right away. They have only announced an intention, and haven't technically broken any laws or rules w/ respect to their actions.

They would face massive suits. Not to mention the loss of revenue for not playing the final and semifinal. Cannot see it happening.

There's no turning back from this. These clubs have crossed the line. It will be near impossible to fix the relationship with UEFA if everything is canceled.

Either this competition goes through or the board of all the 12 clubs will have to leave.

"Too many snakes out there hun. From now on it's just me N the real football clubs

So Portugal would play without Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, Benardo Silva, Cancelo, Felix, Jota, Trincao, Ruben Dias and Cedric....
Forget Portugal and think of England. 80% of the team is *gone*.

This is the only way. If UEFA/FIFA do not kill this cancer now they never will, so they need to go nuclear or they will not stop it.

UEFA and FIFA are a cancer and need reforming/stopping as well. They are only trying to stop this because they will lose money. They dont give a shit about the sport, it's been getting ruined for years under them and they have sat back and done nothing.

WOW just WOW. Back then the European Cup was a new exciting competition comparable to the Super League concept and United were I believe without checking England's first representatives
The European Cup didn't gut Division 1 of its biggest six teams and effectively have them abandoning it. It isn't comparable.

Eventually the 15 teams will buy their own island and call it Super League Island™ they’ll all feck off from their respective countries and move there

No argument with that, but this league will kill football as we know it. UEFA/FIFA is a slowly killing it, so there is still time (maybe). The ESL will gut football immediately.

Funny this has happened just as Barcelona's spending was spiralling out of control.

UEFA President: United weren't a big club until Alex Ferguson

People want to bow down to the governing body of a competition which the president thinks we were a tinpot club before SAF even though we had won a European Cup 18 years before SAF?

Not even close to similar - try again

Stop acting like this is some sort of fight against UEFA.

It will be detrimental to all teams not in this League and is for the owners of those clubs to have a closed shop with no fear of relegation. Don't pretend its some crusade to save the game from UEFA.

PSG not in the super league because their owner is worry about Qatar World Cup and nothing else.

It could be even more cynical than that. It's a good idea for German and French clubs to wait and see how Serie A, La Liga and the PL deal with their clubs, if they ban them from domestic competitions then there is a chance for wealty club owners to get significantly more money from TVs because the ESL is supposed to be a midweek competition, that means that weekends primetime slots could yield big money. If you are Al Khelaifi, you get Ratcliffe, Pinault, Seydoux and Rybolovlev on the phone and try to find out if they are willing to develop a product for weekends.

I wonder if the clubs in question anticipated level of response from fans. It’s almost unanimously negative.

The ban from international football is a clear material change to contracts.

I suspect the likes of Raiola already have their legal teams on it.
I beg to differ, I think he will be having his accountants on speed dial working out how much of the £400m payout he can get for his clients and how to hide it from the taxman. Players may not have been contacted but I will bet my last dollar that the likes of Raiola and Mendes were kept in the loop.

Talk of banning players from international football is just posturing and it will be tied up in litigation for years. It's up to the governments to step in and dial back this corporatization of the poor man's sport by the elite.

Sorry but these comments aren't helping. Sort your shit and have dialogues. Stay out of media.

Gotta say, I'm loving all the meltdown. I'm ready to give it all up, I just want shit to burn down
The drama is amazing - I’m happy to see the chaos. I just hope it amounts to nothing serious in the end.
