Any breakaway English or British league would have the exact same negatives as the Super League. You'd need the majority to breakaway for it not to be a massively watered down version of what we've currently got.
Thank God we refused to join this farce
Brady was a free agent.Like when they recently invested (got Brady) in the Bucs and won the superbowl
Like I have said, it isn't Herrara's fault the owners are like that is it? He's a football player with a passion, as we saw at United and I'm pretty sure if he was at Lille or Nantes he would not have a different view.Who stands to lose the most in the ESL out of all the clubs?
PSG.
It's a moot point, I respect it if it comes from a player from say Lille or Nantes but from PSG? Who've cheated FFP year after year and taken a shortcut to a subscription on European finals?
It's absolute bollocks. If it weren't for teams like PSG we wouldn't be in this mess.
And English, Tottenham is owned by an English companyto be fair there's some Russians, Italians and Spaniards involved.
Isnt it because German clubs are part owned by fans, and they knew their fans would never entertain thisI am surprised that Bayern and BVB really seem to stay away.
The last time Bayern seemed like one of the initiators.
Well your first scenario, we would still be competing against the other 4 SL teams in the PL so there is competition. We also have to buy players like Rice and Grealish and you can bet we'd get rinsed so they would have a feck tonne of cash to spend once they sold to us anyway. It's up to them what they do with that and if they can become successful off of that windfall.Well let's say we remain in the Premier League (most likely scenario). The divide between us, City, Chelsea ect and the rest of the league becomes ungodly. We develop super squads as our second string and then when it looks unlikely you will win the league then you basically stop trying. Awful scenario.
Let's say we get kicked out of the Premier League, awful for our history, our tradition, the health of English football and the health of hundreds of clubs throughout the country. Awful scenario.
Name a scenario that could come out of this that is more positive than the future of football we envisioned last week.

I do think its funny that some people think this would be boring. Newsflash it wouldn't be at all.
We have known this FOR YEARS.
Have I woken up on a parallel Earth? Why are people so up in arms over this all of a sudden? Have we not been owned by the Glazers for years? Did we not know what they’re like?
Neville tweeting about socialism whilst working for Sky and never criticising the City owners. Herrera playing for PSG complaining about money ruining the game. People who openly campaigned for the Saudis to buy our club kicking off.
Have I gone utterly mad? Of course this is a shit decision but it’s the latest in a long list. If you wanted the Saudi’s to take over us, if you haven’t been up in arms about PSG or City ruining the game how on Earth is this the straw that broke the camels back?
I am surprised that Bayern and BVB really seem to stay away.

Oh, excellent stuff. We can all rest easy now, our fears of it being a tedious, money-driven enterprise with no element of fairness and competition have been quelled by @TrustInJanuzaj with that statement.I do think its funny that some people think this would be boring. Newsflash it wouldn't be at all.
you mean the CL or the SL?
i don't really see this argument that no one will care about winning the domestic leagues anymore. teams still try and win the league right now, despite the CL. why would it change? of course everyone is going to still want to win the league.
see above. also, people take the piss about competing for a top 4 position, and now it's being praised as making things more interesting? and the top 6 is a cash cow for the PL, they will lose money, sponsorship, tv rights, everything if they leave. the big 6 know this. they have the power.
i'm not even saying the SL is a good idea necessarily, but these arguments i don't think stand.
The general situation. I know this has beeb threatened before many times but cant believe United are pushing ahead with this.To what, a tweet? A post? The general situation? Ole actually winning 5 on the trot ?
You respect it if it comes from clubs that have been historically bankrolled?
The bucs were pretty much shit for the last 15 years until Brady showed up, his contract wasn’t even that much that man just wants to win and he brings players who want to win as well and that will fit Cap space because they know they have a chance of winning.I cant agree with this. This is acting as if they are happy with 400m. Theyll want to keep it increasing. Their investment of the buccaneers in this exact setup proves this. Their revenue stream will shrink with shitty tv deals if they just sit back.
It is guesswork and we're speculating but Rangers and Celtic would want in. Maybe Cork City? I'm sure Everton, Newcastle and a few others would get involved for more money than the PL are currently offering. I think a breakaway is inevitable now to be honest
We have domestic stadiums to fill. What's stopping a self run streaming service for all 'new breakaway PL' being set up? I'm sure more teams would happily sign up if they were guaranteed more money than they currently get in the PL.Who is going to breakaway and where?
The point is they didn't have to. They could have been happy to participate and rake in the money.Brady was a free agent.
Glazers did not pay for any transfer fee or draft picks
Hey, we can all dream right? Didn't know Cork had fallen on hard times.I'd be all for that, but seeing as Cork City were relegated to the second tier of League of Ireland last year it probably a touch unrealistic.
Then again, if Spurs can be in a Super League you never know.
What about after a few games when it is apparent who the top 5 will be so all games between bottom 5 will be absolutely pointless. Especially if the founders are in the bottom 5 as they will still be in the competition again next year. no matter whatI do think its funny that some people think this would be boring. Newsflash it wouldn't be at all.

Can't do much more than laugh about the hypocrisy
Can't do much more than laugh about the hypocrisy
Juve style
I disagree with this as a principle, but watching the best players playing against each other every week should be the dream for every football fan. The group stages are boring because 50% of the teams in the competition are dross. I guarantee that playing Madrid will never get boring, nor will Ronaldo Vs Messi etc. It would be the highest level of football ever showcased. The CL group stages are generally boring bar the odd big team elimination, even more so for europa league groups where hardly anyone decent is knocked out.
So basically with this format you're playing 3 times as many group matches before you get to the knock out rounds where it heats up.
I'm sure he wouldn't but he went there and got his check. Let's not forget he left United to get that check. I'm not saying that they are the main culprits but he's certainly a part of the problem.

Chris Purslow putting it really well:
The Villa chief executive Christian Purslow, formerly of Liverpool, has branded the Super League a “grotesque concept”. Speaking to BBC Radio Four, he said: “These proposals do away with sporting merit. It would enable a small number of clubs to be in this competition come what may and, for millions of people in football, that goes against everything the sport means and stands for. The idea is that the uncertainty that comes with sport, that makes it so compelling, that we all love, is actually damaging to the business model of these huge clubs. So the scheme is designed to take away that uncertainty, to give predictability to their businesses so that, if they’re badly managed or have a poor year, they’re still in the premier tournament. Does that sound like sport or football to you? To me it sounds a grotesque concept.”
Do you want players to speak up or not? What the feck is even this opinion.
