I think we will buy 2 CB. One most likely is de Ligt for his experience. The other one is is a younger talent, either Yoro if he says yes or we try again for that overpriced Everton lad

Yeah two for sure. If we get Yorro I think wel give another go at Branthwaite. De Ligt will be the back up choice.

With progress on Yoro side, we will get to know what happens with De Ligt. Maybe its a pressure tactic on Bayern to reduce fee even further

I plead with the club to sign De Ligt/Tah in addition to Yoro and not instead of Yoro. One CB is not enough.

I think we'll still be after De Ligt. We are still short bodies at the back. Assuming we sign him, we'll be left with;

Dalot
Wan-Bissaka
Martinez
De Ligt
Yoro
Evans
Maguire
Lindelof
Shaw
Malacia

Unless Shaw/Malacia majorly improve their fitness, I think there's a good chance we see Martinez play games at LB next season. I also would imagine Maguire/Lindelof are moved on.

We’ll still sign him we are just not going to pay what Bayern are asking.

Yoro signing will seriously strengthen our position here, if we knew it is gonna happen and did not pay up for De Ligt, then fair play. We have already threatened going for Tah, feels like bullying and I love it.

I think it will be the opposite, de Ligt being first choice for obvious reasons. Cheaper, ETH knows him very well, more experienced. Branthwaite does not make much sense.

Think the plan will be to sign him still, but hoping Bayern drop the price as they continue to chase Tah. We also may be waiting to move on Lindelof or Maguire to free up the squad space for them.

If we don't get rid of anyone after bringing in Yoro it's quite a glut of players at CB

Martinez
Yoro
Maguire
Lindelof
Evans

Bringing in De Ligt would have us up to six CBs for only a two spots, so slight overkill when you consider they will all be on good wages.

Get rid of one of Lindelof and Maguire and it'll be fine I think. Martinez/Yoro/De Ligt as the main starters with Maguire/Lindelof as backup and Evans only playing when we get ravaged by injuries again.

It was reported we were after 3 CBs. Unlikely we would get 3, but 2 would be enough.

I think we will try with Branthwaite and see if Everton budge. If not, finalise De Ligt later in the window. I think it will happen once we start selling and realise that Everton want 70m and wont go down.

I think with INEOS leading the transfer front it's going to be Branthwaite, unless he's vetoed by ten hag which we know he isn't.

Plettigol has also said Yorro has been prioritised over De Ligt. We won't pay for De Ligt if it's 50m eur so maybe it's a game of chicken with Bayern Munich. If bayern drop their price, maybe.

I guess Branthwaite is far fetched too because Evertons price is stupid. I hope we don't pay more than 60m for him.

Need this one or Branthwaite over the line too. Then the defence is set -

I don't think we're spending so much on Yoro not to start him regularly. Also, considering how ambitious De Ligt is, the transfer will only happen if we play 3 at the back.

getting Yoro probably eases the pressure on this transfer now, we will most likely see what happens with Maguire, Victor and Wan before spending again while squeezing Bayern on the fee. DeLigt is probably on holidays until end of next week anyway.

I still think we will pursue him regardless because I believe we will try to sell Maguire. But I thought we had a FFP limit, how are we doing this?

Presuming Yoro gets done I think we'll sack this one off and go for another left footed centre half now.

Agreed, though getting a suitable bid for either of Maguire or Lindelof is the obvious next step. Bringing in De Ligt now would kill our leverage when getting rid of one or both of them. And if we can't get rid of either then I doubt we make another CB signing.

With Onana going Everton will ask a stupid price unfortunately which will be prohibitive. De Ligt just has a lot more going for him.

No no no no. We still need to sign de ligt, just Yoro isn’t enough otherwise it would be like, you are thirsty like hell and you are quenching it with only one glass of water.

This might mean the club wants the deal at €50m total including add-ons but Bayern want €50m and then some more, so hopefully they reach an agreement and we get him alongside Yoro
Yep, the deal is screaming €45m + €10m in add-ons with half of the add-ons being somewhat easily achievable.

But Yoro is a kid and we aren’t going to pin all our hopes on him. It’ll 2 out of the three we’ve been linked with. Braithwait looks the most clumsy and expensive of the three which is why I don’t get quite get that link.
Agreed. I think the appeal to JB, other than being talented & English is also that from what i read on here is that he's equally comfortable using both feet, which means he could fill in either RCB and LCB based on injuries. Not sure if the same applies to Yoro? I think MDL is predominantly right footed.

I'd still sign him and then sell both Maguire and Lindelof. 3 CBs, Shaw, Evans and as a last resort a youth prospects (next seasons Kambwala) is enough cover.

Wouldn't it make more sense to get a left back in, and have Shaw play LCB?
Would be a good idea to think of it this way. Lot of options across the back 4 and I even think you could play Yoro RB provided the LB pushes up into midfield.

I'm still pretty confident on this one. People were confident Yoro was going to Real and they had a great negotiating position because he was their preferred destination and Bayern needs/wants to sell. Same goes for De Ligt, he only wants to come to United if he leaves, Bayern want to sell him. We're in a good spot.

De Ligt, Martinez, Yoro and one of Maguire/Lindelof with Shaw as LCB cover would be a brilliant mix of quality and potential for our CBs.

I’d take even Yoro and Hancko as a net benefit given Hancko’s outstanding ball progression in defence. I think if we look at this in terms of profiles we want, we need physical duellers and ball progression.

If you can get both then you’re very happy but usually you have to compromise a bit on one for the other. Hancko and Yoro would be a good balance and adding good depth. De Ligt and Branthwaite would too.
Agree with this, Hancko would be a great alternative for de Ligt. Better than Branthwaite.

Would be great cover for Martinez.
