Can Messi do it on a muggy evening in the dirty south?

I kinda like that since 2016 the best CONCACAF teams get invited to participate. Makes this competition much more competitive.

Seeing these massive NFL stadiums packed for football is cool.

Going to Peru vs Chile tomorrow at Jerryworld. That should be fun.

Neat. Hopefully the attendances hold up in games not involving Messi/USA/Mexico/Brazil as well.
Peru fans travel well going by my one experience seeing them in a friendly against Croatia back in 2018. Also Chile and Peru are some kind of rivalry in the region so it should be intense.

Surely CONMEBOL will have future Copa Americas in the US. So much money to be made hosting in the US.
Yep it's an inevitability after the huge success of the 2016 tournament. Also works out better with 16 teams IMO. 12 teams in 3 groups means you can be absolute shit and still make it through to the QFs.

nah...it's inside the Mercedes stadium which has a roof so temps won't be an issue b/c it's hotter than feck over here right now. It's 87 degrees Farenhite right now at 830 in the evening

I don’t know how I feel about this.

It would be interesting to see how a Euros would be received, kicking off with Portugal vs China in Riyadh

It might be OK but the atmosphere now in Germany is incredible. Perfect format for the euros.

Countries in South America and North America are more linked than those two countries of your analogy. They're playing in the USA one of the countries in the continent so not sure how playing in Riyadh in your scenario compares.

I feel this is a good idea. There's more teams and quality is improving in both continents. Copa America should be North America and South America combined always going forward.

0-0 HT.

Canada hanging with Argentina. Di Maria missed a 1 in 1 and Eustaquio missing a close range header for Canada.

Argentina is a little surprised with Canada's athleticism.

Canada is missing passing range in deep areas. Kone currently having a mare. Trying to do too much.

Decent game.

I think Jesse March has set up the team well, the argues are getting caught out by our athleticism, but I worry we may run out of steam second half and they'll pick us apart.

I think the game against Peru will give us better insight about Canada's level but nice to see the lads holding their own here.

The high defensive line and forwards not pressing too much is making the midfield very compact, but it has to get exposed eventually by one of these runs in behind, especially if Argentina bring on a forward with some pace.

Old man Messi almost got in a couple of times and he can barely run. Garnacho and maybe Lautaro will be licking their lips if they get on.

Sounds like an apt description to be fair.

Guessing Dwayne just cracked a cold one and switched on the TV as the goal went in.

The only link is the migrant populations, which would just as readily exist in my scenario. The USA isn’t in the same continent and has no cultural connection to those South American countries. There would be far stronger cultural links to Spain, Portugal, Italy, Holland etc…

It’s a money spin that, ultimately, takes the competition away from the home fans and nations. Just as my example would be. It’s far closer than you are making out.

It’s the oldest and most traditional tournament of it’s kind, nearly half a century older than the Euros.

WTF was Messi doing there?
Great move by Lisandro several minutes ago when Davies made a pass into the box. He made it easier for Dibu to grab the ball

That was a free kick to Canada. Sepp Blatter handing out sacks of money to the ref?

this ref has no fecking clue what is going on out there on the pitch
