His weaknesses are only getting more apparent and can no longer be covered up by him scoring or assisting. Very weak, slow, zero press resistance and awful at tackling. We can't play any good football with him at the heart of our midfield or playing as the left sided attacker. He's an instant weak point for opponents to exploit because he can't keep the ball or outrun anyone these days. So easily bullied off the ball as well. We should certainly be planning on selling or just make him a useful sub. Shouldn't be captain either. Terrible leader.
His lack of physicality is a huge problem with him being the outlet for us.

Great player but I’m not convinced he can play in an Amorim team.

The myth that he tries too hard. What the feck does that even mean?
Sometimes you put that much effort in because you want to succeed you fail to see easy things.

I do believe this applies to Bruno at times, he forces things too much.

This does not excuse some of the other facets of his game.

It’s a simple case of when the chips are down I am reluctant to turn against st those that try, as long as the effort is somewhat proportional to the output.

Not sure why people are so aggressive in this thread. Just because united are shit some people take out their frustration here and feel that winning an argument in the forum would make you feel better. I think there is no denying the fact that he has been very bad this season but I think the majority of the squad has been shit and I don't see anything to tell me that if he goes then it will solve our issues. We struggle to create anything at all and the fact that Bruno has struggled this season is showing up how the other attackers are incapable of doing anything at all. He won't play the next game and I am pretty sure we won't be any better

It’s a crap excuse. He simply has poor technique in a lot of things and has brash decision making, to make matters worse, he’s petulant and emotional. This aspect of his game was highlighted before we signed him. There’s nothing like trying too hard.

In any successful team you mean
No, I don’t agree with that. We’re all a bunch of moaners here and pretend he’s rubbish but he’s a phenomenal footballer in a lot of ways. I do think Father Time is starting to affect him though.

Can’t play the 10 in this formation in my opinion, if he’s going to play I think they should swap him and Mainoo, it’s a shame Mount is injured (again) as I think he would be starting consistently.

I was done with him in 2021. It’s about to be 2025 and there were still posters and fans who have a vision of the club being successful in the future with him in the side.

He’s a complete empty stats player. Watching him captain the club I love kills me everytime. The day he leaves the club needs to be remembered as a historic day.

Bruno was doing absurd numbers in the Portuguese league from midfield. People who actually watched him though would tell you that he didn't actually play in midfield, that he played just behind the striker Bas Dost whose name sounds like a 4 and a half hour film about World War II

No club bid for him on the back of two seasons of doing absurd numbers other than Spurs who put in a bid of something like £50m with half now and half if they win the league (lol). Aside from the exact number which I can't be bothered to research this is a fact. Nobody else bid for him

A lot of United fans were disappointed that we didn't go in for him in the summer of 2019 because although they'd never watched him play he was a potential shiny new toy putting in absurd numbers from midfield* which appealed to the stat nerds who consume what was once the beautiful game through Excel spreadsheets. When we didn't end up signing him there was an obvious unofficial press briefing where United sources briefed that the scouts didn't fancy him due to his sloppiness in possession. It was reported by multiple outlets at the time

We panic bought him in the winter. He got credited with turning our season around while a lot of people ignored that we had an injury crisis at the start of the season and him coming in coincided with a lot of our key players coming back

If you still rate this guy as anything near world class then I'm afraid you lack that which we refer to as ball knowledge. He's a midtable superstar. He'll retire with an amazing YouTube compilation where people in the comment section will constantly try to gaslight those of us who watched him stink up the place for years into thinking that he was a top player. "OMG REMEMBER HIS TRIVELA ASSIST AGAINST WREXHAM IN THE 25/26 CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON?" Yes, but I also remember the countless attempts he made at getting a pointless trivela assist. Dude absolutely plays football with his YouTube compilations in mind. Narcissistic egomaniac of a player. Get rid. Offers nothing but through balls and most of the rest of his game is actively detrimental to the team. Remember when he apologised to people who had him in their Fantasy Football teams for not getting a goal or assist? Playing for Manchester United is really not about that, Bruno

Thing is, he's not been shyte just this season. He was awful for 80% of last season then turned it up only the last 3 months. He was good the season before that (Ten Hag's first), but was beyond awful the one before that. So we are paying 300k to a player who's performed consistently well once in the past 3/4 seasons, is now 30 years old, looks to be declining massively and is on ridiculous wages. You're right that there's many players that should be sold before him, but he should absolutely be on the "ship to Saudi" list as well, especially as he can probably still fetch a decent amount of money to use for a better suited profile to Amorim's system

Not convinced this is true to be honest.
Come on man, he’s insanely creative. His passing is brilliant, he can turn games with his brilliance. He can run for days. Everyone looks for him because he has the quality to turn a game with his ability.

What successful team has he ever been a part of?
Hes a good player who has really bad traits which are the types of traits you don’t have in successful teams

Hes the definition of big fish in a small pond.

only above average attribute that he has is vision (used to be a good finisher too)

not strong/not a physical presence
not press resistant
suspect technique and touch
passing is inconsistent
not a good dribbler/ball carrier

how can he be a "phenomenal footballer"? He comes up with the goods from time to time because he has carte blanche to do whatever/play like a quarterback

edit - he's also always available/rarely injured so I guess that's another positive for him, in fairness

I have said it before about him but he's either a 9/10 or a 3/10 player. never in-between. I'd swap him for a consistent 7/10 performer in a heartbeat, his low level is really really low compared to talismanic counterparts at the big teams. You will never ever see odegaard have as bad a game as bruno had today.

A luxury player. Three sendings off in a season not even halfway through is deplorable and highly unprofessional from our so called captain.

Got a post deleted for pointing out the fact he’s been red carded three times this season. Fair.

When was the last time he turned a game with all that ability against a top 6 side? Or a Prem away game we go behind in?

I think he has some phenomenal traits, sure. But he has too many inherent flaws to be considered a phenomenal player.

I'm not on the "bombsquad" bandwagon yet, but why the fudge did we extend his contract and give him a pay rise in the summer when it has been clear for 18 months that we should be winding his time here down?

If he genuinely had an offer from Saudi in the summer we should've bitten their hands off. I like him, but he's limited and is not the #10 we should build around.

Bruno's passing is being described as "brilliant", by the way
I think he has a “brilliant” mind - he has the vision and the understanding to make the killer pass. But his execution ranges from genius to sloppy. If I had to break it down: short pass game - above average; medium pass range game — top level; long range pass — average.

Agreed. I've been saying for seasons the club needs to move on from both him and Rashford.

Bruno needs the entire team built around him, its why he works in a 10. He needs absolute freedom to do what he wants, with ideally 2 defensive players behind him. We restrict ourselves by continuing to build a team with him in it. Chelsea took the step to get rid of Mata when they realised they couldn't carry a 10, we need to do the same.

He's such a chaotic mix of class footballing ability and absolutely braindead decisionmaking. You want to control the game? He plays hot potato to the opposing team. You're getting out of the locker room ready and hoping to play a better second half? He gets a stupid 2nd yellow the minute he steps on the pitch. I've lost patience with him and I'm ready for the day they decide to move on from him. Feels like an eternity the last time he felt like a reliable player performance wise.

Fecking ref barely called any 50/50s for us all game and then only gave Bruno a second yellow. Should have been a straight red.

At least that would have forced Amorim's hand to potentially play some combination of Casemiro, Ugarte and Mainoo in one of the 3 games.

Fa cup final he produced the assist. Does that work

I'd call that the exception that proves the rule.

Otherwise his non-penalty contributions feature the likes of: 1 goal 1 assist at home to Leicester (3-0). 2 assists at home to Everton (4-0). 2 goals 1 assist at home to Sheffield United (4-2). These are the only types of fixture he can thrive in.

While I could list 10 Prem games this season that we dropped points/got battered in where Bruno started, contributed nothing good creatively and was shockingly bad with the ball throughout. Including two sendings off. He was also terrible against Chelsea and City to make it 12 games, but scored a penalty in each to mask the shite performance.

I actually be happy if he doesn’t play for us again. Should be given the Rashford treatment.
No alternatives at present. Mount is about as reliable as a matchstick doing overhead presses.

But I hope in the summer we sign a proper number 10. Or even if Mount can stay fit hes very impressive.

He clearly needs to sort his head out. It’s pretty clear all is far from well behind the scenes. A lot of these more experienced guys don’t have any job security left here and INEOS don’t seem like the nicest folk to deal with. Cold and hopefully efficient.

The flip side of that is that as nice as the new manager seems like he is I think all this goes beyond him or tactics. If you put your body on the line you don’t concede from set pieces in every game. If your heart is in it you don’t get sent off repeatedly less than halfway through a season. He’s been so poor but everyone is letting each other down. The players who’ve been here for a long time can now see if Rashford is getting pushed out then none of them are safe anymore.

You named two things he’s very good at (creative passing and running a lot). That’s not a “brilliant player”, especially with how inefficient he is in his creativity generally.

The weird thing is that today was the one day where he basically didn't play loose balls and try any tricks & flicks before the red card but we were just completely rubbish as a team in getting anything going. I do get the frustration with him but I do think that we have some of the worst attackers in the world with him and so it just looks even worse for him.
