Do you think there will be a Deal or No Deal?

Laura Murray @LauraCatriona

The Tories have recently blocked laws on up-skirting and FGM, and they’ve let MPs accused of sexual harassment back into their party to get their votes in internal power games.

The sheer hypocrisy of their benches leaping up to pretend at being feminists...

Jeremy needs to remember to cover his mouth with his hand like the football managers do..."stupid man/people/person/arsenal supporter/ageing man with grey hair!!"

I wish I was truly amazed at the blatant hypocrisy on this board regarding the outcome of the referendum but I am not, just simply saddened by it. Now unless I am mistaken for better or worse (worse I think) we had a referendum in 2016 on our continuing membership of the EU. Parliament supported it.......not just the Tories but Labour as well (not too sure about the minor parties). Now I accept at that time it was only the Tories who said the outcome of the result would be binding. Then of course we had a general election in 2017 when only the Lib Dems and the Scots Nat's argued strongly for remain. Scots Nat's lost seats as did the Lib Dems. Indeed the Lib Dems only got 8% of the votes. What did the Tory and the Labour manifestos say.....that they would honour the referendum results. Just shows how much the electorate cared about staying in the EU

So in a nutshell we had the opportunity in 2017 to overturn the referendum result and p++++d on that opportunity. No wonder the few really clued up politicians in the HOC realise that to go back on that decision really screws up democracy in the UK and proves that voting counts for dilly squat if the elite do not agree with you. It is true that 400 plus constituencies voted to leave the EU but over 400 MP's disagree and they are not all tories. Talk about politicians saying 'I hear you but I am going to fecking ignore you'.... no wonder Trump won in the USA.

And finally what I have failed to ever see in the arguments favouring another vote on this or any other board is .....by what margin does the vote have to be one way or the other to be legitimate?

I was a firm remainer....now I just want my appointed reps to cease playing political games and agree a unified position that is not bedevilled with thoughts of winning the next general election. Trouble is I am spitting in the wind.

Ah well I will go quiet again until after March

This would have merit if the option chosen wasn’t one that potentially sets the economy back for a generation. People keep trying to paint it as two equivalent choices. It was not. It was one safe choice and one hugely dangerous choice. It’s long past time that people started to understand that difference.

The election argument is a red herring in a FPTP system - the two big parties accepted the result of the referendum and so you are left with the choice of effectively spoiling your ballot paper by voting Lib Dems (led by the type of Christian nutter normally found in America) or voting between Tory and Labour on other issues.

As for legitimacy, we need a vote based on realistic options rather than the lies of have cake and eat it sold by the Leave campaign (and generously funded by Vladimir).

I suspect you are not “a firm remainer” if you really need this explaining to you.

How is it that whenever someone comes in here and questions having a second referendum or says the UK made their decision and should just get on with it, they always include "I was a staunch remainer, but now.."

It’s the same reason Jonno White has been a diehard United fan since the days of Matt Busby.

Who did you vote for?

I was also a firm remainer but now I just wish we'd get on with it.

I've stocked up on baked beans and diesel and have a bid on with eBay for a snazzy looking dune buggy.

If you voted Conservative or Labour you voted for Brexit, if you voted Lib Dem you voted against it. Simple.

I would say Brexit is far and away the biggest issue facing Britain for sixty years and it seemed pretty obvious to give that due weight to me.

I agree with you on the significance of Brexit but I think most people assumed it would be sorted out and just voted for their usual party. Essentially, British people cannot visualise a genuine crisis - the deep, deep sleep of England as Orwell called it.

How about yourself, do you wish you'd voted differently now?

Totally wrong on many counts.
You should know better than to make such sweeping generalisations.

He used the word elite and claimed he's a remainer in almost every post in this thread - so I'm guessing UKIP.;)

As per usual on this board....make up your own narrative to suit your own agenda. As it so happens I voted Lib Dem as I have in the last three elections. I actually campaigned for my local MP (our Norm) and thankfully he got in again. Without doubt they shot themselves in the foot for ditching their stance on tuition fees......but then what's new in politics. All I know is that in 2017 they were the only party in favour of remain.

As for those who have left these shores for life in another country.....I wish to high heaven they would actually leave instead of telling those of us left where we went or are going wrong.

Was watching some of those LBC videos on YouTube today and some of the people that call in to argue for Brexit

In my experience as someone who works in the public in a customer facing role I talk to a lot of people and I come across this so much. People that discuss this type of thing, I always ask the question of “What positive effect on your life will this have?” and people just genuinely don’t know what to say. It would be funny if it wasn’t so scary.

That’d be nice. Oh wait, thanks to this madness in less than 100 days I might actually suddenly become an illegal in the country I moved to perfectly legally as part of my EU citizenship. In the worst case scenario I could lose my right to work or even live here. So perhaps us Brits abroad might have a bit more to fecking lose than someone sitting at home complaining about how important it is to maintain some vague idea of democracy.

Try reading a manifesto or two before you vote next time. And be honest enough to admit it when you make a mistake.
Yeah it's pretty straightforwardly true.

Unless, Labour now pivot to a second referendum and campaign to remain.

"Believe me it'll get a lot worse"

If the EU wants to make you an illegal that is up to them. I hope that we extend citizenship to all EU nationals that have made their home in the UK. If the EU do not do the same then that will not be the UK's fault that will be down to EU countries being vindictive and petty.

Sorry but that’s bollocks. So far the UK has already cost the EU countries billions purely because of a UK only decision. And now we might crash out thanks to the utter ineptitude of the UK government and it’s inability to find consensus. Yet apparently it’s all the EU’s fault? Give me a break..

You just know that there's a big chunk of Leave voters who will blame the EU for everything bad that comes the UK's way in the next few years.

They already blame the EU for some areas of the UK being driven into poverty, whilst completely ignoring Tory cuts since they took over from Labour.

I expect it from that lot, but hearing it from a supposed Remain voter and Lib Dem is a bit much.

Freedom of speech hasn't yet stopped. I can criticise the UK all I like. Utter madness to expect something good to come out of it and even worse to accept it.

The EU will grant the same rights as the UK will.

If you hadn't noticed the only reason people like @Kentonio and millions of others may have problems is because of 17.4 million idiots decided to take their rights away and for what!

So Dick, you think know all about me ?
You know precisely FA.
Now go away and take your stupid comments with you. Bye.
