Do you think there will be a Deal or No Deal?

  • Total voters
    194
  • Poll closed .
I suspect that a lot of people don't know the chronology. They only recently learned about the commission(administrative arm) and think that it's a new thing when in reality it's their since the early 50s. The preamble of the Treaty of Rome(1957) makes it clear, not only it stipulates that the members are determined to lay the foundations for an ever-closer union but also mentions the ambition to develop and strengthen the union economically and socially.

The EU has never been a secret.

The sovereignty question is in any event a red herring, of interest to a handful of fanatics like Bill Cash. The referendum was won on the basis of (lies about) immigration.

Hilarious if this is a press conference to basically say, “Come on then cnuts! Bring it on!”

Honestly I don't know what was THE basis for the referendum. But I have heard too many people in all of Europe claim that the EU changed its initial plan, it's one incredible lie because you can easily prove that it's wrong, it's on the second page of the Treaty of Rome, the first page has "The Treaty of Rome - 25 March 1957" written on it, you don't even need to make an effort and read dozens of pages.

Fair fcuks to her.

They’ll be using her as an example of stubborn resilience in future politics classes.

At least she has the balls to set out a plan & pursue it (even if I don't agree with it). It's more than what cuntface Mogg or BoJo have.

You mean like her red lines

What the feck was that? Pointless nonsense to try and create a headline above the commons debate

Yeah but her plan is the equivalent of a shit in a fish bowl.

At this point, the Conservatives' main and only priority is not what is best for the country, it’s staying in power. In terms of Brexit and May's position, they will do whatever they think best helps them to do that.

She's getting slaughtered and basically avoiding every question that's being asked.

She's a sweaty quavering mess.

The line she just trotted out that no one has given her an alternative. No one else has been negotiating with the EU you idiot

She’s as stubborn as a mule, like a WWI general sticking to a plan even though it makes no sense.

I hate the way she claims to know what “the British people want”. She means the OAPs who attend the Tory party conference?

To be fair, Mogg and his crew are about having their cake and eating it or walking away like children.

There's never any point in asking Theresa May questions. Ffs.

The Brexit vote was 52% yes to 48% no - to me this is not decisive enough to make such a fundamental and difficult to undo move for the country

People didn’t really know what they were voting for and some of the information they based their votes on has since proven to be wrong

If they'd let 16-18 year olds vote, as many people wanted, that probably would have tipped the balance the other way

If they’d disallowed OAPs from voting, who won’t really bear the impact of the move, that would have tipped the balance

Ditto for ex Pats

If they re-ran it now, it would probably go the other way - even a lot of leave voters didn’t vote for this

Crazy if we go through with this madness

Exactly. It's not only that the British people have never had the EU explained to them but they don't want to know what the explanation is.

What is it about modern British politicians that leads you to believe you would be better off with more sovereignty?

I'm sure you understand that even if you go it entirely alone, there will be rules you will be expected to adhere to? If you want to trade with the EU or anyone else you will have to meet certain regulations - only if you go it alone, you will have less influence on setting those regulations.

I've heard quite a few people claim they are better than the racists/xenophobes because they voted Brexit for sovereignty. But at least the racist feckers understand what it is they wanted when they were voting. The poor unfortunates who seem to think Britain is still an empire and should still be writing one set of rules for themselves to live by and another set for the rest of the world are truly lost.

Honestly excellent post. They want the past and nothing more than that. I've avoided saying it until now but anyone who voted leave is an idiot, not because they voted leave but because they didn't realise the overall implications it would take to get them out of the EU. If you believed the lies then shame on you. I personally can only hope that no murders occur up north because of this and that is the best we can hope for.
