2054. Like every year, the prime minister of the United Kingdom comes to Brussels, asking for Brexit delay. No one remembers today when and why this strange practice started, but it always makes people gather on the streets of London.

For 38 consecutive years, the 'Stop Brexit' man, now 105, with a grey beard down to the floor walks around Parliament Square shouting/croaking in a very hoarse voice 'stop brexit'

2109: Black Rod Robot approaches the door of the House of Commons. The door is slammed in its face, symbolising the independence from the cyber-sovereign. Then, to symbolise the sanctity of the UK's upcoming exit from the EU, Black Rod Robot goes in the door, then out again, then in the door, then out again, then in the.............

So 2 questions I’m not crystal clear on:

How can BJ get away with saying he won’t be seeking an extension, despite Benn act?

How can Mogg instruct another meaningful vote when the Letwin amendment now mandates parliament scrutiny on BJ deal before a vote?

Trying to ignore the Letwin Bill?

I don't think there is anything to stop Letwin proposing the same amendment again, they are hoping to convince people to vote against it, or more likely hoping there'll be a backlash tomorrow in the Telegraph, Mail, Express and Sun which will convince them to vote against it. Not sure how they'll get on if Johnson refuses to write the letter as that shows he will never extend and only highlights the need for the amendment.

He probably knows he can't but the court battle will only start on Monday and he'll be hoping the withdrawl act will be passed unamended by then negating the need for the Benn Act, if not they'll make some poor arguments in court, lose then write the letter or resign.

It was an amendment so if the bill didn't pass neither did any amendments on it.

The thing is can they bring the bill back if it didn't pass today?

As a British citizen living outside of the UK I can only say how fecking ridiculous the UK politics and politicians are. A laughing stock around the world

If he does not send the letter I suspect Monday will see a standing order 24 motion granted for an emergency debate about the pm breaking the law
Could be a confidence motion... They could even go for impeachment
Most probably legal action started in courts as well
I still think he will send the letter but if not they honestly no idea what will happen by the end of monday

Talks of DUP supporting amendment for second referendum. Could they have enough MPs for a 2nd referendum now?

Defeated by 12 last time and given it'll be attached to a deal and further MPs have left the Tories since I'd say it would stand a good chance.

Would be a nice final act for Bercow, he'd love the opportunity.

I wouldn't be surprised if the government think this will be the case and are happy to allow the courts to go that route. Although i still think Boris will send it but do something childish like sign it from parliament.

Impressed with Starmer today, completely took apart Boris's deal and said it for what it was - a trap door to no deal.

He seems to be gearing up for a future leadership bid - and he's probably in a decent position. He's been strong enough on Brexit to not come across as someone who's been dithering on it like some of his colleagues, thus giving him credibility among the party's Remain majority, but he also hasn't hung Corbyn out to dry despite their political differences and he's generally demonstrated more loyalty than some still in the party, which would mean he's probably not completely tarnished with the left of the party. Whether he's actually got a solid policy platform beyond Brexit though is another matter.

It will require an extension longer than the Benn act asks for though ... Not impossible and I suspect if for a referendum before June (when the next EU finance deal kicks in) I think the EU would go for it
Not sure labour leadership will back it (Tory deal etc) but if they did then yeah it probably has the best chance of anything to get through

Well he’s a QC with a lot of experience in public prosecutions so hopefully that should stand him in good stead. By god we need something or someone new!
