I am interested to see if he ever plays for the first team again.

A really unfortunate buy. There’s nothing to his game apart from going for the shot from stance. There’s not much we can do with him while he runs downs his contract.

We need him fit and fighting so that he can pass a medical for his new club

Wonder who made the call to flog him in January? Ten Hag or Wilcox and Co? Maybe Ten Hag should have seen the writing on the wall if they were selling players out from under him who he signed.

I wouldn’t be surprised that he’d be given a few chances to operate in the left sided 10 position, particularly when we don’t have a natural left footed player in this side of the pitch to offer the team with some much needed width and crosses into the penalty box.

Ten Hag going could actually be the making of Antony.

I wouldn’t bet against Amorim getting something from him in one of the wide roles.

He might use him as a left wing back. He has the energy and can tackle, shame he can't dribble

Stop holding on. Antony is finished at the club. Will likely be gone by next summer.

If he can learn how to cross properly and be a one trick pony who's only good at that offensively then he's set for the wingback role. Because he doesn't seem to mind going up and down the pitch or to defend BUT he can't be relied on the wing - not pacy enough to beat his defenders and not skillful enough to create a space.

And learning how to put in a good cross in is easier than learning how to beat your defender or to score goals. If you're shite at anything else. AT LEAST be the new Ashley Young. Time to practice 1000 crosses every week, Antony.

If he finds some joy in Amorim’s system we should capitalize and sell quickly before people ever how average he is.

It's not really fair to prosecute Antony like this when United has a higher winning rate when he is playing.

Even Ten Hag had finally had enough of him, so I don't see Amorim giving him any chance at all.
I think he'll be given a shot as a wingback, at least until we can get some proper ones in. He has the engine for it... whether he has anything else remains to be seen, but we're not really blessed for choice in a 3-4-3 and unless Dalot and Mazroui take to it like ducks to water, there's going to be a wider audition for roles on both flanks, especially so as Amorim like converted wingers rather than converted full-backs for the roles.

I quite fancy his chances of making a decent wingback. I think I read somewhere that he was originally more of a wide midfielder than a winger/inside forward for Sao Paolo - and for all his faults in the final third, he's always had the workrate, he's hard to shake off the ball, decent in tight spaces up against the touchline, and knows how to buy a free kick.

I can see him safely shuttling the ball down the flank and combining well with Amad or Mount or whoever in the right AM spot.

Of course he will. Team selection will depend on training performance but it’s a clean sheet for everyone.

If he trained well he'd have played for Ten Hag when he was under massive pressure to help save his job, and for Ruud if he thought he'd been hard done by and was good enough.

I'm sure Amorim will have a look, but he will likely just see the limited player we have all seen since he joined us.

Antony is going to be a great inverted RWB for Amorim.

The work rate, the left foot, a cross over taking alot of shots but still having the ability to score etc.

It’s very rare for wingbacks to play on their “wrong” side. The idea is generally for them to supply as much width as possible and get up and down the flank. They aren’t really expected to cut inside for shots which is the main reason we have inverted inside forwards. I’d be shocked if Antony is tried or deployed as a RWB. It’s very much more likely he’s tried at LWB instead.

Generally true but not true in Amorim’s system. He’s played lots of players at wingback on their inside foot side

Didn’t he say that we will definitely see goals and assists next to his name this season?

Clarity? I don’t think it gets any clearer than the manager who wanted him so badly and stuck with him for so long eventually gave up on him and only played him against the likes of Barnsley.

Im not a fan of Antony but if Amorim is a better manager than Ten Hag i think Antony can be more useful to the squad.

The biggest problem he has as an attacking player is that he plays so outwide and is easy to read because he is so one footed.

Under Amorim, he should in theory start more centrally so he doesnt have to dribble as much because he is already in the position he would try and dribble to from rather than be so far out wide which makes him predictable and easy to read.

If he isnt able to improve as a forward then he should in theory be able to play as an inverted fullback on the right which Amorim has used due to him having more space to less take on the defender himself and provide crosses and that defensive energy which we see even when he has had a poor game.
