Playing wingback isn’t going to make much difference as he still has the same flaws and limitations. Today was a typical performance from him and I’d expect more of the same going forward.

Everyone knows he's rubbish. There's nothing left to say about him. We just have to put up with him until the summer

This question has been answered multiple times, the answer is never going to change.

There's the door, see you later

Even when he manages to drible past the opposition player, it never turns into a goal or an assist. I just don't see how he could turn this around, the quality is not there.

He wasn’t awful, which I guess is a step in the right direction for him

Huge performance from Antony. Going to be a big player for us. Think he will redeem himself either this year or next year and become very important. If he can learn to cross.

I’m surprised by some of the criticism tonight. Given he’s barely played for a while and it is a new system, I thought he did ok. He wasn’t amazing by any means, but I think it was something to build off and the effort was there. Some good touches and nice play.

Taking the positive in that he wasn't completely shit, but we really do need to move on.

Receives the pass, passes it back or tries to go passt a player but doesnt succeed. Repeat.

Fed up seeing him on the right. He offers nothing in terms of width or threat because he's constantly cutting inside.

Stick him on the left and get him running down the flank and knocking balls into the danger areas.

First half especially he was decent, he had a couple of our better moments and had our most dribbles in the match with 4.

Nothing great but was fine as a rotation or backup wingback

A professional footballer. Playing on the wing. At Old Trafford. For Manchester United.

Spams backward passes 90% of the time and hopes the ball will fall kindly for a curler he manages to execute 1.7% of the time.

An absolute waste of a child’s dream.

Biggest flop I can think of. Keeping Dan James would have been better
He was an upgrade on James when he signed. Despite him not necessarily lighting the PL on fire when he joined, he did score some good goals and looked composed on the ball in build up.

But this is now. Obviously, it's been all downhill since then.

It was hard to judge his performance last night. Whenever he picked it up he had a man at has back immediately (all the space was being given to Malacia's side) and no real options. When he managed to receive it facing the goal he was doubled up on most of the time.

Managed to beat his man a couple occasions but didn't do much with it. He wasn't terrible but nothing amazing either.

I'm literally at a loss why he's never being used on the left hand side when he's that left footed he refuses to use his right foot at all.

It's so frustrating as it's almost like he's got no movement in his right foot at all.
His left foot is a bigger problem than the right. He has very poor passing/crossing skills, and his only strength is apparently crab dribbling what is only effective if he's on the right hand side. I don't see him as an option for left at all and no wonder he never played there tbh.

I thought he was alright although ignored Mount many times, what was a bit weird.

list of players that I’m convinced would outperform Antony on the right wing (won’t include any actual right wingers)

Gary Neville
Hargreaves
2008 Wes Brown
John O’Shea
Ebue
MLS Wayne Rooney
Anderson

I think he is first out the door come next summer, in mine and I’m sure in many others too 5 worst signings, I’d love to be proven wrong and if he does I’ll hold my hands up and say so but he’s a bang average player and we got ripped off by Ajax. He’s a one footed one trick pony.

Arsenal 2:0 Man Utd New
I actually thought he looked good when he came on. Did more than Rashford and Garnacho.

I would never play him again just off that shot on goal from the free kick routine. To have such a lack of technique and ability is unforgivable.

Was such a poor attempt and just shows how shite he is.

Yeah I thought he was okay too. He did feck up a couple of actions but more positive than the other two.

I think on the free kick, he was a bit unfortunate, didn't have an option for the cutback and to score from that angle on his left foot was always going to be extremely difficult.

Confidence looks completely shot.

Should have done better for the chance he got, but he was okay. Did not do stupid things like give the ball away cheaply at least.

I think that's a bit expected with him hardly been playing, but winning the free kick was great work by him and he was positive in his actions offensively and defensively. He definitely has use in this set up.

He did give ball away shortly after that free kick situation (few minutes perhaps). Still, given Rashford's and Garnacho's performance it wasn't bad. Still it's clear Antony won't be around anymore if an offer comes at some point next summer. Really expensive mistake.

Yeah. It was brilliant work by him and Bruno. But shows you his limitations. Imagine what Robben could've done in that position.

Difficult, but not impossible. He's clean through on goal. Giggs scored his goal against Arsenal from a not too different position, for instance. Hit it hard and high, and you may score. The goalie has to chose - you either block low and make yourself big, like Onana does, but then you are susceptible to a high ball, or you stand taller, but you are susceptible to a low shot. From that close, you have to choose. Antony's shot was weak and placed chest height. If the goalie felt cocky, he probably could have chested it.

Still think we should try him at LWB. The lack of a left footer providing width kills that side of the attack.

He's not going to offer anything though. He's a poor crosser and a poor passer, and will most likely get rinsed by a solid winger. He'll work hard probably, and he controls the ball well enough to deal with a press, but that's about it.
