He has the right attitude as I don't think it's an effort issue, he just doesn't have the talent and physicality. He's way too slow and weak, doesn't have the creativity or touch to make up for it.

There's no way he'll improve enough to be a useful player. I don't think we can sell him so probably loan him to a weaker league until his contract expires and then let him go.

Awful signing, I remember Ajax fans laughing at us for paying so much for him and his numbers weren't remotely impressive on the Eredivise. Really a wreck transfer from the start, probably one of the worst signings in football history.
 
His confidence is absolutely shot and he was abysmal as the 10, but I still think he has a bit of potential in the wingback role. He knits play together well, works hard and holds width, making space for his team.

If he can get his confidence going, he might be able to reinvigorate himself for the remainder of this season.
 
He tries that isn't in doubt but neither is that he isn't very good. ETH said he was the fastest player over ten yards and unfortunately Anthony believed him.

An occasional left wingback in rotation games against teams we need to just do a shut out job on.
Probably not a great use of an 80m player, but it's where we are.

Problem is though he doesn’t have pace to run away from anyway, gets out muscled easily, can’t take anyone on. His crossing isn’t very good, won’t/can’t go on outside or use his right foot, and he just tries the same shot every time. He lacks most of the attacking qualities you want from a wingback so his potential is very limited.

He can be neat and tidy and will run up and down but he’s going to be very reliant on someone like Amad doing the bulk of the attacking. For his sake I hope he goes out on loan somewhere where he can regain some confidence, I would like to be wrong but it’s very unlikely he is going to succeed as a wing back.
 
Where’d he disappear to today? Given my general loathing of Dalot, I’m willing to see anyone else at right wing back. Yes, I’m that desperate.
 
People looking for a use for Antony are wasting their time.

He's simply useless.

Our best player today (terrifying) and needs to be tried at RWB with Maz at LWB.
 
Decent cameo, more dangerous with him than Mazraoui at rightback again... Shame we only tried it a man down and a goal behind
 
Don't know why we haven't started with him at wingback in the past few games, he had a good cameo against City playing there and again today. Would rather put him there and Mazraoui at LWB.
 
Ugarte was best in 1st half and Antony in 2nd. Good cameo and well done to him. Obviously better at RWB than RW/RAM position.
 
With how things are playing out results wise, I think he should be starting at the LWB spot, assuming he can actually play on the left side. If not, worth a try at RWB too because he actually adds an attacking dimension from that position that neither Dalot or Maz have been able to add.
 
He’s been decent when he has come on the last few times but useless when he’s started. I suspect he will get to start the next game and the pattern will continue.
 
I don’t like him at all but we can’t keep playing defenders as WBs. Antony was useless as a 10 but he might be our best option as a RWB with Maz behind him.
 
Should be one of the first on the list for tbe chop. I thought he might be ok in a 433 with a different fullback behind him. But in 343, he doesn't suit anywhere.


Shouldn't be anywhere near the place nevermind starting..

We’ve been saying this for 3-4 weeks now. It’s surprising Amorim has not given him a single minute at LWB and all we get is Dalot and a very rare Malacia cameo.

Having 0 left footers in the left really makes us predictable. Players only even cutting inside and never overlapping to cross it.
 
At least he tries. That’s the only positive thing I can say about him.
 
Might as well give him a chance. We need to throw some shit at the wall to see what sticks.
 
He’s has energy and puts effort in when on the wing both side of the pitch. At this moment, he’s our best wingback bar Amad but you rather play him AM.

Reckon he’s alright at wingback but useless at AM. Expect to see him start few more games.
 
Just because he’s a left footed doesn’t mean Antony suits the LWB role. He’s been coached and used as RW all his career. His style of play isn’t running down the wing and whip a cross with his left foot from the left flank. His style of play is cut inside to shoot, pass, and cross with his left foot. If he does that in LWB, it will be too awkward for him and he won’t be able to do anything with his right foot either if he cuts inside from LWB role. He would be more useless as LWB than Dalot because Dalot has get used to play in both flanks.

I would play Antony as RWB role though. He would provide link up play with Amad and he will add more goal threats than what Mazraoui offers. I’m surprised how Amorim hasn’t even start Antony as RWB in any of English games so far. We need a winger or an actual wingback to play the wingback roles not some inverted full back to play in wingback role.
