Thought he did ok last night, which is quite the improvement for him.

Aston Villa 0:0 Man Utd
Decent cameo with some nice moves to progress the ball when he came on, but still doesn't offer enough cutting edge. Disappointed it wasn't Amad coming on.n

Guy must be chuffed coming on at the same time at Zirkzee... Somehow makes him look like an actual footballer by comparison.

I cant believe he has learned nothing being on the bench. Still no where near creative enough and still loves cutting in and shooting.

Terrible and kept chasing the ball like an idiot when the team was defending leaving gaps out wide.

He wasn’t terrible and atleast tried a few things. Garnacho on the other hand was unbelievably bad.

I thought he was absolutely awful today.

This is how I saw his contribution today.

  • I don't think he made a tackle.
  • One shot that the keeper held with two hands.
  • Never went on the outside.
  • One cross that the keeper held with two hands.
  • When Martinzes was getting ready to release the ball he was walking towards our goal with his head down. No interest in the fact that the ball might come close to him and he might have something to do.

He has to be the worst footballer in the Premier League at the moment.

And our manager knew this person, had worked with him and decided to buy him. For that alone ETH should go.

I am by far a fan of Antony, but he was not anywhere near our biggest problem today

Part of me wonders if he would improve under a new manager? Our entire team looks pedestrian, maybe this applies to him to. With a better manager, maybe we could get some better performances out of him?

I'm pretty sure if Conte was appointed tomorrow, he'd try to convert him to a wingback in a 3-5-2.

I think we would be wrong to let him go in January unless we get a huge offer, I think he is good player and still has something to offer if he can get a god run in the side.

He's had several uncontested 'runs'. He was the first choice winger until he played himself out of consideration. Ten Hag went to bat for him and gave him every opportunity to impress. He's simply not good enough

Not a chance. He's had plenty of opportunities and gets outperformed by younger players in Amad and Garnacho.

Loan in January with option to buy (£35m?) is the only way I see this going. Hopefully Ajax fancy taking him back.

What a complete joke of a transfer - should be a case study in how not to do things at any footballing level, never mind at a club the size of United.

It will be another sale like Sancho next season. 20 to 30ish mils maybe to Italian club or lower PL club.

On what we have seen so far he is not worth half what we paid or anywhere even near it , going to be very hard to shift , will end up eventually letting him go for very small money or even nothing.

Why would anyone pay £40m for him? I doubt we would be able to get any team to pay more than £15m even if he were on normal wages and apparently he’s not. He will be impossible to sell unless we are willing to offload him for virtually nothing.

I almost forget he plays for us. He’s just been such a nothing player after a decent start. Not as bad as Sancho by any stretch but he’s faded into zero.

Another season of scratching about followed by a move next summer to someone like a Marseille, Roma or Inter. We’ll do well to get £25 million for him. Dreadful signing knocking us further backwards.

We're getting nowhere near £40 million for him! Other teams know we're desperate to sell him, they can smell it off us. And no one is going to pay the wages we're giving him unless we sell him for half nothing.

I heard on Stretford Paddock that he took 43 shots in the PL last season and scored 1 goal. To be fair though, that's a failure of management to allow a player do that.

Ha, I read up a tweet about an hour ago from United fan that hopes that Antony can do a Raphinha, who was hated by a lot of Barcelona fans when he first signed from Leeds, playing the first year in a bad form, but just had the night of his life for Barca, and scored a hat trick v Bayern in the Champion League, and received standing ovations. The turnaround in form has been tremendous, and he even got to be Barca captain.

Normally, I'm quite an optimistic person in life, and always try to find something positive in every negative situation. However, as much as I'd like to see Antony turn it around, I just don't see it in him. Even in the Ajax youtube compilations prior to him signing for United, he was a lot of flair, but no end product. 2 years after, nothing has changed.

He seems like a decent person, who has gotten the chance to be at a top 3 club in the world by popularity, and normally, he would not like to leave. However, the level required for him to play in the PL seems too high. And even on good form, I doubt it will be enough for where we want to go.

I think it’s the right time to start putting it to him that he’s on the way out unless he does something special between now and January (which on current form looks unlikely) maybe it’ll spur him on, probaly not. Sometimes you just have to admit defeat and move onto the next one. That’s how big clubs should act.

Raphinha was levels above him even at Leeds, now he's one of the best in the world at his position.

Far cry from anything we've seen from Antony in 2+ years

Will be happy when he leaves. Though despite how shit we are, it's nice that we haven't had to watch him this season

It should be a loan. Shift some of his wages and hope he shows some form so we can get something decent for him.

I can’t see us getting more than 25m for him if we try to sell him now, and even that is a risky number to pay for him for any team (that is not Saudi).

I can see him going to Benfica type club - I think David Neres went there from Ajax too.

The good in an average league but not great in a great league Brazilians.

I would be interested to see him moved to LB a la Young / Valencia. He definitely seems to have some of the attributes to do so. It’s just whether he’d be willing to do it to save his United career. If I remember rightly didn’t he have a strop once when asked to play LWB at the end of a game?
