Really refreshing to watch. I do think he's better suited centrally than out wide. Seems to compliment his strengths better.

I am not impressed by the argument that ETH was correct to start Rashford match after match, month after month, regardless of how poor his form was but that he was right to bench Amad after one poor performance, preceded by a string of excellent performances.

But you are right that overall team play was poor, regardless of whether Rashford was poor or Amad was brilliant.
But Amad hasn’t been brilliant and Rashford hasn’t been poor? That’s so hyperbole. In fact, in Rashford’s best game he was taken off at half time and subsequently moved out of position in the following games.

They’ve been much of a muchness, with neither really impacting games.

Really good when he came on. Still think he's better off the bench in the last 25 than starting.

It's an old trope, but he needs to bulk up a bit, he doesn't have the explosiveness, nor the power. I'd like to think he's being managed well.

He has fantastic technique, his touch and close control must be the best in the entire first team squad.

I'm praying that he gets a bigger role in the team with Ruud as interim and Amorim as manager. One thing I didn't like tonight was he was taking a leaf out of Garnacho's and Rashford's books and being a bit too shot happy when it wasn't really on, which isn't usually like him.

It could be down to pent up frustration at seeing those aforementioned players get picked ahead of him week after week and shooting on sight from low % positions and he's thinking "fk that, I'm gonna do the same!"

The difference between him and Rashford on the right is night and day. When Amad gets the ball, you feel he can create something or beat a man. Rashford is a lost cause out there.

And that brings me to another thing. This inverted winger shit needs to stop being indulged. If you can create using pace and skill on the left, there is no reason why that skillset completely disappears when shifted to the right.

At best, it's a lack of confidence. At worst, it's a player actively sabotaging his play to be put back in his preferred position.

I'm a huge Amad fan, but I still saw something that have disappointed me recently, and that's a lack of determination to make his mark on a game. You see it in bursts, but for large periods, he just looks rather laid back and seems to have no real interest in making an impact.

Amad definitely has the tools to heavily impact games. I know they are different leagues but at Sunderland, at the start he was similar, and suddenly he became very decisive in the final third. He had the ball in certain areas and you knew he was going to drive towards the goal to cause havoc.

Mowbray really did a fantastic job on him.

Don’t you mean Mowbray?

Yea I noticed similar he seemed a bit more selfish today. It's not necessarily a bad thing when you are winning a game heavily.

I thought Amad was much better than Rashford when he came on and it was good to see him smiling again. Would love to see how Amorim uses him in the next months

I do like Amad but I don't understand where the clamour for him to play as a 10 comes from. The only time I can recall him playing there was vs Coventry off the bench where he did very little. Did he play centrally when he was at Sunderland? Do we think he could suit Amorim's system? Hopefully we'll see him get a run of games soon as it would be a shame to see him leave without being given a proper chance.

From what I've seen, Amad did play very central at times with Sunderland and is definitely worth a try in a similar role under an Amorim style system.

Amad’s profile definitely suits Amorim’s ‘half-space 10’. His technique makes him almost ideal for it, but he’ll need to up his intensity and little. I think he’ll get game time in rotation there.

I think Bruno will be the other one for now, inverting from the left. Under a better coach in a tighter set up he’s capable of cutting back on the hero nonsense we’ve been seeing under Ten Hag.

It’s funny because I definitely remember ten Hag being famed for his use of the half spaces that his inside forwards would occupy.

I’m not sure Amad has the work rate for a number 10. He hasn’t shown it on the wing anyway.

The likes of Mount and Bruno may be high energy runners but I wouldn't say number 10s are necessarily famed through the years for their work rate. I'd say wingers typically work harder.

Either way, I do agree with the sentiment that Amad needs to up his intensity a lot more - and I'm referring to when we're in possession, rather than out of possession, as I feel he presses really well

I think he'll do well in that right-inside forward role under Amorim's system, especially with the ability to cut in on his left or use Dalot overlapping on the right. Annoyingly I think a player like Sancho would've done well as the left-inside forward but that ship has long sailed.

A player like Sancho maybe, with right workrate, determination and hunger. Sancho on the other hand doesn't have those attributes so very happy that player will not be Sancho.

I like Amad I think there is a player there but have to admit watching him on Wednesday I found myself questioning what he was doing. Certainly went out there looking to score and maybe over doing that at times but probably went out with a point to prove. However the reason I rate him is because normally he looks to create something and often finds people in better positions. Didn’t seem to want to do that this game.

Then there was the whole why are you back receiving the ball off the defenders, get out on the wing and stretch play. Numerous times he came back and I’m sure on one occasion he was the deepest player trying to get the ball off Onana.

Saw people up above saying they don’t think he works hard enough?! Must go away and make a cuppa or something when Amad comes on.

Man Utd 1:1 Chelsea New
I'm a bit concerned he lacks the physis to do it in the PL..not really fast and also leightwight.

if Amorim doesn’t give him starts early in his tenure here I think it’s not going to happen here, sadly

Again looked head and shoulders above Garnacho.. Good Football IQ, intelligent, looks after the ball.. Good times ahead with Amorim

Sees that he has something to do at this level and that there is an unfulfilled potential there. Think he's a player who keeps getting better and better the more he's involved in the game. Maybe he's a better fit to City-style football.

They are very different players. But i would say Amad is the better player as well. Garnacho has the tools to be a top top player i feel, but i do get a Nani vibe from him. Frustrating with his bad decisions.
He is still young and can improve but he is playing with blinders on at times. Just like Rashford.
We look dangerous with these players on but are somehow still one of the lowest scoring teams in the league.
Amad can offer something else and would be good for our balance. We have to be able to score from something else than quick counterattacks.

He’s a different player compared to Garnacho , Amad plays it safe whereas Garnacho is more a moments player. Unfortunately his decision making is terrible at times

He needs to play, he is one of the only players in attack who looks after the ball and not make brainless passes, and decisions at the end.

I don't even think he's that great, he just looks after the ball and plays the game with his head up.

Should be in the team really.

I still find it a ridiculous notion that one or two mentioned United not needing Olise because he was in the squad.

I think the benefit with Diallo as you have described is his profile, it's not a coincidence that when Garnacho is playing the team typically suffers a poor goal difference stat.

If Diallo plays consistently he'll feed players in and around him which should contribute to the team creating more clinical chances increasingly the likelihood of scoring goals. So I think he'll feature more under Amorim similar to how Marcus Edwards was utilized for Sporting in their previous seasons.

And in doing those first two things, creates chances. From a standing start, his ability to beat a man is what we thought we were getting with Anthony. He almost always makes the correct decision too which is more than can be said for a lot of the senior players in the team.

I agree, different type of players. It makes more sense though to start with Amad, who will help you gain control of a game, keep the ball and may find a killer pass to find a breakthrough in a tight game. Garnacho on the other hand is a classic impact player who could come on in the last 15 minutes of a chaotic game and outrun a tired defence and do something.. Just like he was doing in his breakthrough season.

This is the thing. People think that those of us wanting him to start means we're overrating him, but context matters.

We're not a good side at the minute. The alternatives aren't playing well. This isn't like wanting him to get a run in the 2008 team over Ronaldo, Nani, Giggs, Park, etc. We just want someone in the team that values keeping possession of the ball, and isn't incredibly selfish when in possession.
