The absolute state of some of the comments in the match day thread about this lad. Clueless.

A subset of our fanbase hates him and can’t wait for any opportunity to call him crap. Weirdos.

In the last ten years we haven't managed to move with the times and adapt to modern football. If Amorim can get his system clicking and we start to actually function as an actual football team then Amad will thrive.

The annoying thing is he wasn’t even bad at the start of the season. He was on par or better than Rashford/Garnacho in the games he played.

But everyone has tried to justify him being suddenly out of favour with ‘not taking his chance’ or some other nonsense. Despite clearly having skills that we desperately lack.

Also a decent understanding of pressing, which is a welcome bonus.

Good night for him, worked hard, made a few mistakes, a few nice bits of play and won the game for Utd, so hope he gets a run to build on it now.

He scored 2 goals while having a meh performance. Fair play. Call me when he plays a proper game.
Anyway, I won’t change my mind, he will never be a world beater.
Created 3 chances as well and torched his man several times= “meh performance”

Swear you lot wouldn’t know a good footballer if he slapped you in the face

Amad post match interview: "we were one of the best teams on the pitch"

Haha!

Amad post-match interview. "We were one of the best teams on the pitch". Classic.
Edit. @Adz_99 Beat me to it..

Yep. It was basically if he didn’t immediately produce goals and assist every game then he “wasn’t taking his chance and couldn’t complain about the benching” despite generally always have a good baseline level performance and technical quality. Mind you all of this in a side sorely lacking attacking thrust and general quality.

Not just the best on the pitch technically but the hardest worker too. Won some great headers too, he's actually got a really impressive leap on him. It's something to build on and it'll do wonders for the lad's confidence.

Fans have been calling for Amad to start, and today he showed exactly why. Was it a flawless performance? Not quite—his youth still shows in his final-third decisions. But every time he touched the ball, he was a genuine threat, constantly putting pressure on the defense. He fully earned his two goals tonight. No reason at all he shouldn't be starting the next game.

Wow…someone who put a shift in the whole match. Some of the other players should take note. Great game and let’s hope he builds on this.

Them comments after the first half in the match day thread. People were itching to single him out as a problem. He was by no means perfect, and made plenty of mistakes, but he was also our only player who did anything that half. He should've definitely won us a penalty.

I'm sure it'll be the same in the next game, too. The possibility of him having a quiet/poor game is relatively high because we're an incredibly inconsistent team where no one plays consistently well, and people will use that as justification for dropping him without taking into context the teams problems as a whole.

One of the few technically gifted and intelligent players at Manchester United. Some of the elements he needed to add to his game are decisiveness and also aggression. He is developing well now and long may it continue.

Performance tonight was not brilliant but top players make the difference when necessary. Kudos to Amad.

Makes ETH look a bit of a clown. Persisted with the hapless Rashford regardless of his impotent performances and kept giving chance after chance to Antony whilst keeping Amad benched.

Quality talent. The decision making from him and final ball will improve loads once he just gets more into a rhythm, gets a better understanding with his teammates and Amorim comes in and hopefully gives them some better patterns. Has all the talent and an excellent work rate though.

I’ve started ignoring them. What’s the point in having any interest in what they have to say on any subject when they quite clearly don’t have a feckin clue.

Ever since he signed it was obvious there was a player there.

That’s more like it. He can improve even further too.

Basically, we won because Amad was up for it. One of very, very few who can leave Old Trafford feeling pleased with his night's work.

Brilliant performance. A player with his technical ability will always have some impact on the game. He will have inconsistent games as every other developing player, but he deserves backing as our only other option is miles off him.
