Yup, forgot the average joe on a forum knows better than a multiple trophy winning manager.
Silly me.
Explain how what I've said doesn't hold up? EtH is perhaps looking for certain things from his players, maybe Amad isn't showing them enough. Seems a fair assesment to why he hasn't been given that money Ch of an opportunity recently.
If “you don’t know anything and the manager knows best” is the path of reasoning you want to take then just don’t even bother.

You're stating opinion as fact and plenty of people just don't agree with you. He's had the odd good game, but seems fairly anonymous too often.

Maybe he needs more games, but the jury is very much out on whether he has a long-term future at OT.
And my entire point of my post is that he’s basically never been trusted with any sort of amount of games where his playing time isn’t hanging on a knife’s edge. Which compared to Garnacho is a stark difference in their opportunities afforded

Maybe there's a reason why successive managers haven't felt he warranted more game time. They see how he is in training and his ability to follow instructions.
Garnacho, who seems to be on another level to Amad, was eased in too.

Thats hyperbolic nonsense to put it politely .

I really like Amad, but Garnacho has proven his quality at the top level, if not on a consistent basis. Amad has not managed to do that yet, in my opinion. You could blame the manager for not giving him chances, but our manager doesn’t seem particularly afraid of giving young players a chance in the team. The question comes down to why he hasn’t been given more chances, and none of us really know why that is.

Well I am way past trying to figure out or trust what goes in head of our Pep Guardiola is my idol .

So I am holding judgement on our players till he gets the boot .

I hope you’re right, as I really like Amad and want him to succeed. Hopefully the next manager can help him show his quality.

One is scoring quality goals increasingly regularly and integral to our attack. One isn't.
One is being afforded the opportunities to do so.

Garnacho has had many, many horrendous performances. Much worse than anything Amad has shown. Difference is, he wasn't completely dropped when those performances happened. He was afforded the opportunity to build some form. Amad has a couple of quiet - not bad - games and he drops below a full back in the pecking order.

Hard to improve from the bench. Amad certainly has the tools to score more as well. Feels so odd to just quickly throw him in the bin after giving him 2-3 chances. And it is not like Garnacho and Rashford are killing it regularly either. Rotating them 3 would make sense i think.

not to defend EtH here, but I think Garna has the pace and work ethic that allows him to have horrendous performances yet be given the chances because you'll at least get tireless running and hard work from Garna, Amad does not offer that so he needs to actually produce something, it is unfair to me but I understand why it happens, for now, I still don't think he is totally dropped just because he had 2 quite games, I think he will play in the easier games and hopefully he can produce something that allows him to stake a claim in the starting 11.

Yeah I have expected to see him play more too, but tricky with Rashford back in the fold.
Doubt ETH lasts beyond Christmas/Jan, if that, so maybe he'll get a chance under a new manager. Hopefully he can show the doubters they're wrong.

West Ham 2:1 Man Utd New
Don't know if I am alone here or not I'm not really getting the fuss over Amad at the minute. He is decent on the ball but the total lack of a right foot means he's always turning back and the attack has to start again or he's coming inside congesting everything. It just becomes very predictable

At least Rashford and Garnacho will try use their less dominant foot to mix things up.

They don't though, or at least not very often, they are also one dimensional too.

He should have done better after Hojlund had a good pass towards him and he was one on one with a defender. Defender dealt with him without any issue at all. If he was as good as this topic suggests, he would have made it atleast a little bit harder for the defender there.

Talented player but i dont get the fuss that he isnt a starter. He isnt that good yet.

He started badly but did better after their goal and when he operated more centrally.

The fuss was over Ten Hag playing a full back as a 10 over him. As you saw today, beginning the move that ended up with our goal, he has his strengths in that area.

The frustration for me…

If Amad puts in the display Rashford offered today. He’s pulled immediately from the starting 11 never to be seen again for 3,4,5 games.

Amad isn’t our saviour but I would certainly expect him to start the next game given their respective performances… ETH needs to treat the players the same.

I expected him to be involved today and I was right, he was ok, not good and not bad, just ok, he'll get more minutes hopefully against Leicester city in the EFL cup.

He might as well play instead of Rashford on the right. We all knew years ago that Rashford isn’t productive on the right and we’re back here again.

Fans are desperate and i've see it all before with other failing managers: the fan base is convinced the manager has some vendetta against a certain player and that we would be better if he played:

Moyes- Kagawa ("Free Shinji")
Jose- Pereira (pre-season Pirlo)
Ole-VdB ("why does he not play him!")
EtH- Amad

I'm not saying he's not a good player and he could develop into a great one, but when i've seen him a lot this season he's neat and tidy, works hard, but is not that threatening. Like it or not EtH wants United to be direct, and Garnacho and Rashford are far more suited to that type of football. I'd be interested to see Amad under a manager who valued a more patient approach to build up play.

He was alright I suppose. Played a lovely clipped ball in behind for our goal then basically stood in that same spot trying to do the same again for the next 20 minutes.

When ETH's back is against the wall he plays who he thinks he can trust. Garnacho and Rashford did it for him before so he will just persist with them instead of an unknown quantity in Amad. That's just the simple answer. That's why he will play Mazroui as a 10 before giving it to an actual midfielder.

Seems to have lost a bit of confidence that he had at the start of the season

Amad scored the winner against Liverpool in the FA cup last season with Ten Hag under enormous mounting pressure

He had been left out of a few games in a row. The impact on him show up today. He had difficulty to get used to the situation of the game at the beginning. He had difficulties to understand what the team overall was going to do, even though no one had clue at that time. We were dominated by the opponent.
But, he grew into the game and orchestrated our goal.
He has the skills and talent. He is a team player. He just needs the trust of manager and playing time. I am more and more convinced that he will go to elsewhere soon unless ETH leaves.

This thread gets super active and everyone gets worked up when Amad hasn't played and then when he's played this thread gets very quiet, almost non existent... Kind of tells you everything you need to know.

There is a trend there of players who are more technical than physical that don't do west united, and it's nothing new.

If we don't see a change in direction we won't use technical players well, very similarly to the England team.

I was thinking about that with the whole Zirkzee situation (and he still has time to turn it around, don't get me wrong). When you look at some of the players that have failed here such as Mikhitaryan, Kagawa, Mata (debatable but what's not is that he performed far better for Chelsea), VdB, they all kind of fall in a similar category. I think Amad will be a success here but we do tend to prefer more aggressive players in the attacking midfield roles.

You look at the likes of Rooney, Cantona, Sheringham, even Yorke to an extent, they were powerful, physical players who could drop in the 10 role and who had personality. As a club we do seem to do better with this profile of player.
