Ouch. He's not kidding when he speaks about the need to rotate, is he. Zirkzee. Rashford. Casemiro. Dalot on the left.

Welcome back to a manager who rotates... Been a while. Weird to see.

Let's see how Rashford and Zirkzee do. Currently feels like they have no future here. Great to see Mainoo in, though I'm concerned about the lack of mobility without Ugarte.

Wonder if there's any chance it's Bruno at CM and Mainoo as a 10?

I think it’ll be a bit of a struggle today. I hope we’ll have enough to win, but I’m feeling pretty cautious about this one. Hopefully being at home will help get us over the line.
It worries me a bit, as this is the game we are more likely to win. Hope we do and the ones coming in show they deserve to be picked. It is a very busy period coming up so we should be expecting some rotation.

Dalot will pretty much start every game of significance at LWB. Malacia barely survived 45 minutes against Bodo Glimt, and I don’t think current Shaw is in Amorim’s mind as a wingback.

I thought Ugarte would’ve kept his place, he’s the one player that’s very familiar with Amorim’s system and we look far more secure in the middle of the park with him on the pitch.

De Ligt, Mazraoui, and Bruno are the ones who started all three games now. And Maz and Bruno specifically have not been subbed off at any point.

This is either testament to their quality, fitness, their ability to quickly grasp what is needed tactically in this new setup, or all the above.

United may lack in genuine quality, but one strength they do have is a deep squad. Rotation is good to keep everyone happy and relatively match fit.

Arsenal midweek will be the tougher game so no problems with the team that is starting today.

    C'mon United!

He’s just got a few players into form and then drops them. Weird.

Ugarte and Rasmus had to start surely. Anyway. Let’s see. I don’t see Rashford or Zirkzee pressing enough and the lads will be on by 60 mins
We play again on Wednesday night and every 3-4 days in December. Rasmus was knackered after Thursday. They're not robots and there'll be inevitable rotation

I was hoping to see Garnacho, actually. But he doesn't seem to be in Amorim's mind as a wingback either.

Zirkzee should be the last United player to be starting in a line-up. I would prefer almost anyone instead of him. We could start with Mount, Højlund, Eriksen (who is not even on the bench), Garnacho or even Antony and it would make more sense to me. Zirkzee has done or shown so little in his short time in the club and he does not deserve to start.

Yep. 9 games in December playing under a new system with new expectations midway through a season. He will settle on a starting XI, it’ll just take a little longer. But you can see relatively clearly that half of the XI is already guaranteed

We should have enough to win without Hojlund. I'm confident Amorim's setup will get the goals needed and Rashford will improve each game in the short term.

I think Bruno and Mazraoui are the 2 that impressed him most. I don't see them missing many games and I don't see Mazraoui moving from that rcb position, since he seems to be delivering exactly what Amorim wants there. De Ligt has started all 3 games too, though we didn't have many other options there, so not as convinced that he has that position locked down. I think Maguire and Yoro will be given a chance in that ccb role in the coming weeks.

I suspect Dalot is very close to nailed on one of the wb slots too. The rest of the lineup is completely open at this stage imo. His comments about Hojlund after the game made it clear to me that he isn't getting too carried away with Rasmus and recognises he still has a lot of things to improve on before he can be reliably first choice.

    I like this manager's approach.

He is giving players their chance and is quite happy to rotate, we do seem to have options in a lot of positions.

I think the line up vrs Arsenal will give us a idea of his favoured starting 11 even though its early days.

You have no idea what he’s done to deserve a start, there is more to it than what you see on match day and if Amorim thinks he deserves a start then so be it.

Zirkzee, Rashford, and Casemiro. Intensity levels reduced by 200%. Mainoo isn't a runner either.

McNeil and Gueye could have a field day with this if they aren't shut down.
Mainoo's running and defensive numbers have been very good this season. He was leading the league in interceptions before his injury

Worried about Zirkzee starting but in Amorim we trust.

Also we got a good bench so everyone gets a fair crack of the whip

What did he say about Hojlund ?

I have an idea what he has not done to deserve a start. And I think most people would have an idea about that too if they have seen Zirkzee playing for us. I hope he proves me wrong today, but no matter what he has shown almost nothing in his games for us and has been one of our worst players on the pitch every time.

Not a bad lineup. No one is going to look good in the lwb position I suspect, and he’s probably resting Hojland and Ugarte with Arsenal away in mind.

Other than that, he has to get a good look at his squad in a proper match content, so everyone is going to get a turn, especially in these home games. I thought everyone would get a start either midweek or today, and we’re not for from that. Expect we’ll see something closer to his true first team in the midweek fixture.

    Why no Hoijlund?
Rotation, everyone getting a chance. He explained how he'll use rotation to be able to give others full training sessions instead of recovery days before and after the game.
