Zirkzee instead of Hojlund who got two goals and an assist in the last game. WTF!!!!

Mainoo shouldn’t have to prove anything. He’s quality when he’s fit and in form. The other 2 have to prove a lot
There was a time when what you said about Mainoo could also have been said about Rashford. Mainoo is great but he can’t become complacent.

Ye it’s so refreshing to see a manager make the necessary changes quick when it needs to be done. None of this wait till 60th minute nonsense.
Agreed, and it's actually good for the player, because if a badly performing player is hooked off early, he won't become a topic because the sub will have plenty of time to impact the game.

Swear we always seem to be stuck streaming our games while Liverpool city etc are always on a proper channel

Højlund was knackered, so rested for Arsenal. But tbf, Amorim should've subbed Højlund off last match to give him a earlier rest.

As much as I'd like to see Hojlund and Ugarte start, it's nice to have a manager who understands the need for rotation. Arsenal is the bigger game anyway. If there's a game you rotate in it's this one.
That is true, but we’ll likely get beat by Arsenal regardless of whether our first choice players are fully rested or not.

Dropping points today due to fielding a weakened side with one eye on Arsenal will be infuriating. I have full faith in the manager though, so let’s just see.

    Interesting lineup.

Seems like a bit of a gamble putting together this many unknowns, Everton aren’t that bad

People fuming at rotation are no doubt the same ones who moaned that Ten Hag never did. It’s common sense and logical that he’s rotating.
It isn't logical to drop players who are were great in their last game. No sense.

Amorim is a smart guy. He's working out who he can trust in the early weeks. Let it play out I say.
Indeed. He knows full well that some of these players do not fit in his long term plans but there isn’t much he can do than wait till the summer.

I like the fact he is fully embracing taking risks and prioritising progress over grinding weekly results with his "optimal" lineup.

How many times did we moan Amad and Pellistri deserved a fair run over Antony?

Watch him sub on Shaw, Garnacho, Hojlund, Mount, Ugarte and swing the game in our favour and have everyone singing his praises of being a tactical genius

Took me a while to find the video to rewatch it. He was asked directly about Hojlund. Interviewer said he had struggled a bit to justify the price but what have you seen/what did you think about what he did tonight?

"I think he improved the connection. I think he needs to improve more because sometimes he gives too many touches when he needs to hold the ball, but it's very important for us because when we are in a low block he is the guy to hold the ball in connection for transitions. He did that very well. He has those characteristics. He was aggressive. He did that very well. He was aggressive in the box. He is a quality player. I think he scores the most difficult goals (laughing), so he has a lot to improve. Same for every player, but he did a great job today."

I interpreted it as him wanting to give praise to Rasmus but also trying to temper expectations a bit. He clearly doesn't see him as the finished article for his number 9 position right now imo.
With reasons, he has a lot to improve but last game was encouraging.

A giant screen and seats have been installed in the dressing room

Happy to see Bruno back as a number 10. I don't want him playing deeper. He's one of the best final third players in the world. Just put a solid double-pivot behind him and let him be occupied with creating goal scoring chances for his teammates.

It makes you wonder whether Rashford has a clause in that new contract that he has to be played in X amount of games.

Don't like the line up at all. I know he wants to experiment and give everyone a chance, but excessive rotation kills momentum and will cost us points. Sure we can still win, but this is too much.

Totally agree. I've been critical of Hojlund, but Bodo/Glimt was his best performance in a very long time. Hopefully he continues to build on that. The finishing ability has always been there. Now we need him to take up those central positions that he was against Bodo/Glimt to start getting consistent goals.

Interesting comments on Zirkzee by the boss.

Stated that Tarkowski and Branthwaite are really big and strong in the air so he wants someone technical who can get to them in different areas. Then said it’s just an idea and he’ll see if it works..

While I agree he has to rotate, this isn't a dead rubber fixture, it's a must win. He's taken it a bit far today I think but time will tell.

Yes but that doesn't make sense where dropping hojlund, a strong player, in favour of rashford who a stiff breeze can take out

We're in the bottom half of the table. We have no fecking momentum. This season is the perfect time for him to experiment and rotate to find which players are suitable.

Grinding out a few results really isn't all that important in the context of where this club is at. Everyone needs to look at the bigger picture

    Absolutely agree

It is a worry especially as Hojlund, Garnacho, Ugarte and Mount gave us a lot of legs higher up the pitch. Hopefully we can get away with it and have them fresh for midweek.

It may not work today but we will learn something moving forward.

RA was clear on this. No point being where we are next season as we need to see progress.

I understand the need to rotate, but Amorim is brave to play a few of the selected players

Sounds like the rotation is mainly due to tiredness according to Amorim. He also called Mainoo one of the best young players in the league

Totally agree, the League in a total write off already so may as well experiment. Can be a hard watch but overall should benefit us a lot.

I like his experimentation with his line up and tactics ingame. He is testing the squad to see what they are capable of, for too long under Ten Hag we saw the same players overplayed, the same tactics that were not working repeated.

Plenty of good options on the bench as well.

I don't mind the line ups being tougher to predict. In fact, I welcome it. Got to start building a better squad and then making use of it.

I just question whether he'll make big decisions, such as resting Bruno in league games if the opportunity allows, e.g. when fixtures come thick and fast. Not necessarily in this game, but later on down the line. Part of me does wonder if Mount starts to perform whether that'll be something we see, which I think is good for Bruno as it'll keep him fresh. History says that this most likely won't happen.
