Zirkzee instead of Hojlund who got two goals and an assist in the last game. WTF!!!!
There was a time when what you said about Mainoo could also have been said about Rashford. Mainoo is great but he can’t become complacent.Mainoo shouldn’t have to prove anything. He’s quality when he’s fit and in form. The other 2 have to prove a lot
Agreed, and it's actually good for the player, because if a badly performing player is hooked off early, he won't become a topic because the sub will have plenty of time to impact the game.Ye it’s so refreshing to see a manager make the necessary changes quick when it needs to be done. None of this wait till 60th minute nonsense.
Højlund was knackered, so rested for Arsenal. But tbf, Amorim should've subbed Højlund off last match to give him a earlier rest.Zirkzee instead of Hojlund who got two goals and an assist in the last game. WTF!!!!
That is true, but we’ll likely get beat by Arsenal regardless of whether our first choice players are fully rested or not.As much as I'd like to see Hojlund and Ugarte start, it's nice to have a manager who understands the need for rotation. Arsenal is the bigger game anyway. If there's a game you rotate in it's this one.
It isn't logical to drop players who are were great in their last game. No sense.People fuming at rotation are no doubt the same ones who moaned that Ten Hag never did. It’s common sense and logical that he’s rotating.
Indeed. He knows full well that some of these players do not fit in his long term plans but there isn’t much he can do than wait till the summer.Amorim is a smart guy. He's working out who he can trust in the early weeks. Let it play out I say.
With reasons, he has a lot to improve but last game was encouraging.Took me a while to find the video to rewatch it. He was asked directly about Hojlund. Interviewer said he had struggled a bit to justify the price but what have you seen/what did you think about what he did tonight?
"I think he improved the connection. I think he needs to improve more because sometimes he gives too many touches when he needs to hold the ball, but it's very important for us because when we are in a low block he is the guy to hold the ball in connection for transitions. He did that very well. He has those characteristics. He was aggressive. He did that very well. He was aggressive in the box. He is a quality player. I think he scores the most difficult goals (laughing), so he has a lot to improve. Same for every player, but he did a great job today."
I interpreted it as him wanting to give praise to Rasmus but also trying to temper expectations a bit. He clearly doesn't see him as the finished article for his number 9 position right now imo.
Was thinking the same.People fuming at rotation are no doubt the same ones who moaned that Ten Hag never did. It’s common sense and logical that he’s rotating.
You are choosing to view it through a negative lens by saying players have been dropped. You’re having a paddy over it.It isn't logical to drop players who are were great in their last game. No sense.
Absolutely.People fuming at rotation are no doubt the same ones who moaned that Ten Hag never did. It’s common sense and logical that he’s rotating.
Totally agree. I've been critical of Hojlund, but Bodo/Glimt was his best performance in a very long time. Hopefully he continues to build on that. The finishing ability has always been there. Now we need him to take up those central positions that he was against Bodo/Glimt to start getting consistent goals. With reasons, he has a lot to improve but last game was encouraging.
Don't like the line up at all. I know he wants to experiment and give everyone a chance, but excessive rotation kills momentum and will cost us points. Sure we can still win, but this is too much.
Interesting comments on Zirkzee by the boss.
Stated that Tarkowski and Branthwaite are really big and strong in the air so he wants someone technical who can get to them in different areas. Then said it’s just an idea and he’ll see if it works..
Depends who plays where.Yes but that doesn't make sense where dropping hojlund, a strong player, in favour of rashford who a stiff breeze can take out
Good to have options now we are playing 3 at the back.Maguire is on the bench today. It was a while
We're in the bottom half of the table. We have no fecking momentum. This season is the perfect time for him to experiment and rotate to find which players are suitable.Don't like the line up at all. Grinding out a few results really isn't all that important in the context of where this club is at. Everyone needs to look at the bigger picture
It is a worry especially as Hojlund, Garnacho, Ugarte and Mount gave us a lot of legs higher up the pitch. Hopefully we can get away with it and have them fresh for midweek.Don't like the line up at all. They can always come off the bench today too though? It is a worry especially as Hojlund, Garnacho, Ugarte and Mount gave us a lot of legs higher up the pitch. Hopefully we can get away with it and have them fresh for midweek.
I’m not sure what choice he has? Needs to allow everyone fair opportunities initially and flex the squad.I understand the need to rotate, but Amorim is brave to play a few of the selected players
Totally agree, the League in a total write off already so may as well experiment. Can be a hard watch but overall should benefit us a lot. We're in the bottom half of the table.
