Arsenal game will show if Ibra is actually the problem or no. Because imo as a striker that we signed, his job is supposed to be scoring consistently not missing his chances consistently. (as long as either Martial or Rashford who is going to be our no9 tomorrow not Rooney)

We really missed him today. With all those crosses and corners, we would have scored plenty with Zlatan involved.

We had a great game and did pretty much everything right today, but the weakest link by far was the CF position. We are 100% dependent on Zlatan. Rashford and Martial are great, but they are not ready to lead the line.

We're annoyingly over reliant on him. I love Zlats but he's 34. we should have enough fire power throughout the team to compensate for his absence or if he is out of form. right now if he doesn't score we don't score.

Disagree with both of the above. Much preferred seeing a bit of pace and mobility in our attack.

I though both Martial and Rashers were average but I like the pace they bring and I just haven't seen enough from Zlat to suggest he benefits the team.

Disagree strongly with this, pace is massively over-rated for a lone striker, hold up, scoring threat and the ability to create is so much more important and Zlatan shits on every other striker in our squad at these things.

We'll agree to disagree, Zlatan has been a huge disappointment up to now for me, i couldnt wait to see him in action and have been very underwhelmed.

The thing is, he's pretty much our best performing striker since Van Persie.

It's not all about pace as they say Sally gunnel is a fast runner but I wouldn't want her upfront for us ! Zlatan scares defenders and keeps them occupied .havent seen enough ? Who is our top scorer so far ?

Obviously its not all about pace, and its equally not all about scaring defenders otherwise, as in your example, we'd have Mike Tyson playing for us. I also dont believe Zlat does scare defenders, thats exactly what i was hoping to see but he's looked timid up to now, he was bullied by Luiz for example.

Yes indeed, Zlat is our top scorer with 6 goals, which as per my earlier post is underwhelming.

The game was set up for Ibra today, the amount of times he would have either unsettled or challenged for crosses in the box was countless.

I do think he slows us down from time to time but these games he's important for.

feck me, 165 minutes per goal is underwhelming?

I'd say it's par for a guy like Zlatan but he should really be on 8 goals considering the Burnley and Stoke games :/

Yes you're right, it should be more following those games and hopefully I'm wrong, come the end of the season he'll have hit 20+ goals and we'll be in the top 4.

Where we sit today I just can't see it and I maintain, the return from Zlat (not just in terms of goals) has been below expectations.

Well apart from his goals he has acutally exceeded my expectations. His link up play is fantastic.

He will rightfully go back into the team next game. And tbh, I have no issues with Rashford dropping to the bench. Dude is still only 19 and shouldnt be playing every minute of every game. He will do better getting minutes as a sub, but playing up top (not starting out wide).

Do think we missed Zlatan at certain points at times, but also at the same time, with Zlatan, I dont think the press we had on the Arsenal defence would have been as strong to unsettle them.

How can you say something like that when we had several matches full of crosses and corners and Zlatan didn't score many in them.

Definitely think we would've won today if he played (even though he's missed loads the past month), but we definitely would've created more and because of that probably scored more. He picks up great positions in the box and always gets a few good chances to score, plus opening up space for others and offering that aerial threat which we had 0 of today. It's laughable to see people claim that Rashford at 19 is a better option then Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but there you go.

I was thinking exactly this. Despite our control and pressure we created too few dangerous situations in the game. On the whole Rashford and Martial proved too lightweight in a game vs a top team, we still need Zlatan to lead the way.

Not allowed to reply posts with videos embeded yet, but this is a reply to @VanGaalEra's post;

He was also awarded with a statue of him being raised in front of the swedish national stadium in Stockholm, after winning his 10th consecutive "swedish player of the year". Not too shabby if you ask me.

As he did vs Feyenoord, Chelsea, Liverpool? He was quite good against City and scored a nice goal but then again missed a lot of chances including an open goal.

Let's be honest. Against Burnley some shots should have gone in, especially that flying kungfu kick.

That was one instance where daring to be Zlatan just wasn't the right idea. It looked amazing and it was perfect technique but if he'd gone for a simple header or a different type of volley he could've placed it a lot better. It was a fantastic save but it was also lucky as sin because Heaton literally just spread himself and didn't have a clue.

Still, c'est la vie.

Jeez man, the couple of matches he's had that wasn't up to standard is proof of, what exactly? Where you happy with our strikers against Arsenal? Also, he didn't start vs Feyenoord, did he?

Eh. We should've waited until later in the year at least.

short term fix to a long term problem - again.

Unhappy about having a world class striker lead the line for the next two years? Strange. Maybe boy wonder Marcus Rashford should be our starting striker every game (even though he was crap against Arsenal and hasn't as yet demonstrated the decision making and link-up play ability that you need to be a top striker). Maybe we should get Lukaku who is crazily overrated, or any other bang average striker, maybe Cavani?

People will complain about anything.

Meh, couldn't we wait to see how the season pans out a bit? He started off well but has largely been crap in recent games.

It was an inevitability, he's Mourinho's go to guy.

If we will add some players in the summer notably a winger or two then its not a bad decision.
And if it will be a disastrus season I'm sure Jose can change his opinion.

man, his press officer really has done a number on some of you. Who cares what he does it on the pitch, as long as his press team keep up the witty one liners he will always be "world class" to the target audience

Not surprising, If I'm not mistaken it costs us the same amount of money.
