If he had have finished the clear cut chances he's gotten we'd be top of the league and Pogba would have had a few more assists to boot.

He's becoming a problem, and I never thought I would say that.

This. It really is that simple.

All the big man talk of the summer looks silly now.

Bring a new winger in come Jan, play either of Martial/Rashford up top. Do not extend Ibra's contract, give Wayne for free to anyone interested.

That last miss was criminal, needs a goal fast for his confidence. His overall game today was really good, especially the link up with Mata and Pogba.

Another game goes by, and we fail to win because our main striker cannot finish chances. Not all on him, of course, but you expect him to put at least one of the two very good chances he had today. It's happened too many times this season now, and we're getting punished for it.

Goes both ways I think. Zlatan should have had 2 or 3 assists against city. It's not just him that miss chances, I think we could at least blame the midfield players as well.

How can you not be worried? He's 35 years old, brought in to contribute for one, at best two seasons, and make an instant impact. His impact so far has been restricted to costing us points in several matches, and we're over a quarter past the (realistically) one season he'll stick around. We don't have time for him to adjust to the league, miss chances and cost us points.
I think he'll come good before long, as I said.

I was one of the ones who constantly moaned about signing someone of his age who'd only recently played for a dominant side in a poor league etc... So I very much understand the concerns. I just suspect we'll probably be thinking he had a decent season, by the end of May.

It's mostly Slevs who seem to post one liners all the time calling him fraud.

I don't even a post on him during the transfer saga. Not seeing the point of this post. If you don't like it, just put me on ignore.

Finally a rational post. He wasn't as bad as people make him out to be, but he was below his own standard for sure.

Thing is, people calling for him to be dropped, who would do a better job as a target player/no.10 hybrid right now?

Are the press on his back yet? Chris Waddle was doing everything other thank wank himself off on the stream I was watching. "What a player, what grace" and all that shite.

Was he one-on one with the keeper like Zlatan was in the first half? Did he have an empty goal like Zlatan had towards the end?
Those are the chances even Wayne would score. And that is why I said 2. Else I'd have said 3-4

Like I said, I wouldn't be so sure of anything, it's like you're firmly believing in things that are impossible to prove. As far as I'm concerned, Rooney possibly wouldn't even have been in those positions or made those runs to get those chances.

If he'd scored all the sitters he's missed this season we'd be top of the league.
Funny thing is, this is the absolute truth.

Our team doesn't lack creativity this season, it's bs. Our finishing has been awful especially at crucial time and Zlatan is the most guilty in this regard.

He's coast us t least 8 to 10 points.

-missed a sitter against Watford which could have assured us a more control proceeding of the game and probably win (3 points)

-missed an open goal against City to at least unsure us a draw. We were on the ascendancy going into the second half(1 point)

-missed the first sitter against Stoke to open up a flood gate (2 points)

-missed a sitter against Liverpool and going by how we contain Pool threat in that game that could have been a classic Jose away masterclass. (2 points)

-missed a sitter against Chelsea to get us back on level term. And we would have probably carried that game less recklessly with us being level. Though I'm not gonna count this game given it still was an heavy defeat. So nothing here.

-missed sitters all over the place in this game(2 points).

That's a total of 10 points pissed away due to Zlatan missing sitters. We're not talking about half chances, we're talking about chances that should be scored by any decent striker.

He is coasting us dearly.

Some very costly misses game after game, looked more like his old self when it came to link up play but his confidence is absolutely deserted in front of goal.

Don't know what is wrong with us but every top player we sign starts off well and then all of a sudden the confidence is sucked out of them and they look like a parody. :(

Was looking for the white text. He will be criticised for missing about 4/5 clear cut chances.

Saw only the second half, he was the best United player by far, if people think he's the problem then the other 10 players are beyond redemption

Yea. People who expect their main striker to score once every 4 or 5 games are so unreasonable

Having a good autobiography is obviously the key stat for a striker

If his only job in the pitch was to score goals as a pure 9 then yeah, that would be expected from him

But he's doing other things too

He had 12 shots today and 3 which I would consider clear cut. His miss near the end from Pogba's great cross was truly criminal.

Really don't know what to say. Missing chances that he would never ever have missed for the last 3 years.

How can someone's finishing ability just go away like that? I really am mythed

He's been absolutely woeful.

What annoys me most his is smug arrogance. Giving it all the large before he joined, thinking he'd outgun Cantona. Yeah right, my arse.

I have no loyalty towards him, he can upon sticks and piss off.

How many points does he have to cost us before Mourinho benches him? Rashford up top and we win that game, no question.

His shots per goal ratio (before today's game) was exactly the same as last season at PSG, one goal for every five shots. I think they were just pissing on opponents last year so his wastefulness went unchecked.

Blaming him for costing us 10 points is ridiculous  Him scoring the equalizer v City wouldn't have guaranteed us 3pts! Likewise if he had equalized vs Chelsea, that doesn't mean we wouldn't lose. There are lot of games where we've dropped points because we've played like absolute shit, if you want to pin the blame on us costing points then look at Stoke and tonight game where he had lots of chances.

I think he'll come good before long, as I said.

I can't understand that attitude. He's already so far in the red that it's almost impossible to even imagine that he can make up for lost ground with the little time he's got left. The here and now is all there is with him, and as someone said a bit further up, a better striker up front we would almost certainly be near the top of the league. Instead we're languishing around in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the table.

Disappointed he didn't play overly well since he showed a fair bit of improvement in the second half midweek. I'd consider putting Rashford/Martial up top, both work hard and I'd struggle to see them being more wasteful than Zlatan has.

You have to take in the context of how bad he's been recently, too. His general play was better today, but, yet again, he cost us more points with his bad finishing. He's going to criticised for that as any striker for any club would. It's not even like he makes up for his bad finishing recently with good general play performances as they've varied from awful to good, too.

Also, he was decent today bar his finishing, but Mata was easily our best player.
