Never been a fan of this guy. I expect him to throw a tantrum when something doesn't please his ego. He's a nice guy to have as long as things are rosy. But down the line he is bound to have his usual mood swings.

He'll be fine with Mourinho - he just didn't like Pep ;)

Honestly when has he in his career has these 'mood swings' he has a big ego and plays on it but he's really nothing more than a showman. Guy seems very positive and most of all he's a winner, just don't see anything not to like with him at all. But then again your a barca fan so you were always bound to be anti Zlatan and pro pep.

Pro-Pep? Where did this come from? I just said I am not a fan of Ibra. Pep is in City, he means nothing to me right now.

Well pep was the reason that Zlatan failed at barca because they just fell out big time so I just assumed you picked your side along time ago. Apologise if that's not the case but I don't understand why you wouldn't love Zlatan, he's such a character.

How is this guy still so good at 35? Crazy how hard he must train to keep his body in top shape.

Im not sure you call 21 goals and 14 assists in a season a failure my friend.

He was considered a failure by many at Barca otherwise he would have stayed. Ibrahimovic is top class no doubt in my mind on that and he easily had the talent to play in that barca team.

Great goal - but in 10 mins Rashford has made it very clear why our attacking gameplan should be built around him not Zlatan

So you are willing write-off a Galactico class player, based on 45 minutes of a pre-season game and 10 minutes of Rashford?
And lets not forget that we have replaced Herrera and Morgan (who clearly were not playing well in the first half).

At least give him half a season, before giving up on a new player.

He left because he fell out with the manager. I remember reading an article where Zlatan said he didnt speak a word to Pep from Jan till the end of the season. It was that bad. You cant stay in the team after that. Barca arent going to choose an outsider over one of their own. He didnt leave because he failed.

He wasn't a failure; he just didn't really fit all that well. Didn't work out in the end, yeah, but that doesn't mean his one season there was somehow a failure.

Great players are always arrogant and we could use some bloody ego now . Been lacking since Ronaldo !!
Failure at Barca means nothing as were Sanchez, cesc etc . It's due to the type of football Barca play !

He is the biggest player at united now and guess players accept it. There is no one to challenge that spot and as long as it stays like that we will be fine

In other words, you expect him to get angry when we lose or he plays badly?
Good. We need more of these types of players.

For the last 2 years we have had too many players who take losing in their stride.
Our greatest players have all been very poor losers. Remember Keane?
In his prime, Rooney was a really bad loser, getting red cards when the team were not playing well.
And Fergie - he was the most sore loser I've ever seen in Football.

With the addition of Zlatan and especially Mourinho some of our players will learn that losing should not be accepted so readily/graciously.

We need more passionate players who throw tantrums because the team aren't playing well. The problem here isn't Zlatan, its fans who somehow think players should be well behaved as if they're watching a Wimbledon match or something. They shouldn't. They should show passion, rage, and rawness. We need more of that and we will get it.

Rashford says hi.

Agreed, Ibra is a winner and we didn't have many winners in our team last season, love the man already :D

Tbh, at least some of the reason Zlatan is here, is to light a fire up under some of these softies arses, we need more angry feckers who won't accept things going badly.

Rooney for example, has been shit since he calmed down.

What, a tantrum like quitting your national team at a young age because they lost a couple of cup finals?

It's all about performance. Agree we need more of the above but it only works if the player himself is doing the business.

Shouting and screaming whilst not pulling your own weight only causes friction in a dressing room.

Players throwing strops annoys me if they're not delivering (ala Balotelli) or simply pissed off at being subbed, but I'm fine with some overreactions and tantrums from Zlatan if he's delivering on the pitch.

Of course he will deliver. He's Zlatan.

Enjoyed his performance today. Echo the sentiment that both him and Rashford provide something different.. I am looking forward to the various attacking combos we use next season.

Yeah, I'm confident he'll have an RVP sort of impact: not a long-term option, but a top class forward who can bolster our attack for a season or two.

Next time we lose a game, instead of his usual nice, "oh well, we'll try to be better next week" blog, I hope Mata's post is, "Guys, I'm scared, Zlatan has been standing in the middle of the road outside my house for 5 hours now staring at the door, he hasn't blinked once...... Cars have to drive around him......"

Apoligies, i get you now.
I was meant to quote a previous post, now this just looks daft.
Damn 3 post limit i cant ammend it till midnight.

I wish he had come to the premiershp years ago. Weird one Zlatan as until recently he has always been rubbish against English teams in club games yet his style of play is perfect for the premiership, it would have been especially so under the Ferguson 4-4-2 we would have been seeing bicycle kicks all the time :) Sure he will be a success.

The bigger conundrum I think is how and where do you fit Rooney in, I am not sure behind Ibrahimovic would work as he likes to come deep, and if Pogba comes, surely he would be playing there rather than the two behind.
I certainly hope Mourinho has the balls to drop him rather than shoehorning him in to the side. Personally, though he is not the Rooney of years ago, I still think he has plenty to offer and that if he does play regularly it is on merit, the pressure is on him as Mata and Pogba could both play there and for me I also wouldnt mind seeing Ibrahimovic and Rashford up front as a pair swapping round one in front of the other could cause numerous problems for any defence.
Mourinho certainly has loads of attacking options and permatations this season, even our weakest on isnt bad:

Martial

Depay Perreira Lingaard

Out all day and somehow managed to avoid the result and then he scores that goal

Clear as day Zlatan and Rooney playing together would make it.. erm, slow or "crowded" in the middle because they both want the ball. Been saying it for a long time that i'd rather we play 4-3-3 but that would mean dropping Rooney. Even a 4-2-3-1 with Rashford () on the right and Micky behind Zlatan would be more exciting. Have to applaud Wayne for getting in to the right positions in the second half, though. And Valencia with 3 assists!

Anywho, loved the character of the players that came on in the second half, everyone is indeed fighting for a spot (and to stay at the club). Still wish we had one or two more friendlies before season kicks off but hey ho. Just hope we play players that are fit rather than based on who "should" play come Bournemouth.

I think he will be very good. He honestly to me doesn't look all that mobile but if he can play up on the line and control the ball and then get free to score then he will be very effective. Remember that only three strikers have scored more than 20 goals in their debut season after transferring into the PL since 2000. We can't automatically assume he'll score 20+ no doubt. But I think we can all get on board and get behind him to do that. That is one part of this aspect of having him up front that I am looking forward to this season.

Hope Mourinho doesn't plan on playing Zlatan up front with Rooney behind. Because he will probably follow his friend LVG out the door if that happens.

Thats surprising coming from a Barcelona fan.

He wasn't a failure; he just didn't really fit all that well. Didn't work out in the end, yeah, but that doesn't mean his one season there was somehow a failure.
It was a horrible deal
They swapped Eto'o for him, plus a load of money. Eto'o was better than Ibra. Can't see what they were thinking tbh
