Much much better in the build up today as he had people taking up his position when he did so and no one occupying the same areas. Very good to see.

I actually thought his touch was sloppy today (and can be in general), but what a positive performance.

He could have easily bagged a couple of goals, created chances and was a hell of a lot more involved than in previous games.

I have rarely seen him work so hard off the ball, to put defenders under pressure, to make runs in behind, to tackle, to fight for the ball.
@JPRouve : I don't remember him playing like that for PSG. Do you ?

For some games he did, but most of the time he had Matuidi and Cavani harassing the opposition and regaining possession quickly, he never refused to press, he just had better teammates for that mission.
As for the runs, he made them too but PSG used to play really high with opponents really deep, so he had less opportunities to make them. It's the kind of runs that he would make against the likes of Lyon and Nice.

Just needs to sort out his finishing.

Very good at holding up the ball and made some nice runs behind their defense as well. Seems like the team is adjusting to him as well, with Valencia's high cross in the region that Zlatan likes to volley it and the balls in behind not being too quick or long for him. Needs a goal though as his finishing seems to lack a bit of confidence of late.

The only thing lacking was the goal to mark that performance.

The way he links up, brings people into the game is brilliant.

Love how he would sometimes drop deep and play that killer ball to Rashford. His link up game is phenomenal.

Thought he looked so good dropping into the 10 position and linking the play, great strength and passing range, also a constant threat.

With Mata around him and pace/width he looked better than any other performance this season, even without a goal!

Best game for us so far. Dropped off and orchestrated the attacks for us really, which is what I expected to see from him when he came in. I mean, he's a striker, and he had 65 passes, with two key passes. Deserved a goal, but the main thing was that he contributed without scoring today. Hasn't really done that in our last few games.

Really wanted a goal today didnt he? He does not have the sharpest finishing but I won't complain if he keeps performing like he did today.

Lol he just had an off day in regards to finishing today. The man is a goal machine.

I said this in the match day thread, but it makes me so sad that he's nearing the end of his career. Would love to see him play another decade for us!

This is the key for me. When no one is running in his way, and taking up static positions behind him he is a key to our attack playing with some fluidity and purpose. He knows when to drop off and when to lead the line. He is such a class player, and the team player he is today is something he's aquired over the last 5 or 6 seasons.

He even made a couple of those tasty Hollywood crossfield passes, it was almost like he was saying "anything you can do I can do too (better)" I love Zlatan:drool:

Shame he didn't score but his overall game was very good. With bit of pace around him he looks lot better.

He's superb because he plays like he has to prove his worth on the pitch.

He's a 35 year, who pops up all around the pitch and putting his body about. Immense mentality.

The other 'things' like good link up play, passing and reading of the game even if a bit off at times doesn't even need mentioning. That's a standard.

Glad that Mourinho thought Zlatan was very good today. Prob shows him that he should let Zlatan play wherever he pleases as his link up play is world class at times. Also shows that not playing Rooney helps as both occupy the same positions.

I love how at times Rashford went upfront then Zlatan dropped deep. Reminiscent of the Zlatan-Cavani relationship that worked well at PSG.

His movement was great today but I think the most important thing was his body language.

The way he was applauding and encouraging Rashford, Pogba and etc was brilliant.

Also dragging away Morgan at the corners was important.

I think that was one of the keys to us scoring two headers.

Shame he tried to hit that volley so hard, he didn't really need to considering how close he was. Lovely technique though.

The shot in the 2nd half was a fantastic save also, was curling right in the corner.

He must have most volley attempts in the league. It's unreal how often he gets in that position, and that's without counting his ninja back heels and all that sort of acrobatic stuff.

He was very good today. He's the kind of player that actually benefits from quick attacking, despite being slated for being too slow.

Personally I'm loving his whole aura being at United. You need that arrogance in a team, that 'this is my stage' feeling he gives. Just like another certain character who graced the Old Trafford pitch. Yeah..wish he was younger, but I think you can see he's loving playing in front of 75 odd thousand...in a top competitive league....and I hope he enjoys every minute of it.

That chance in the first half

Need a gif surely.

His link-up with Pogba actually reminded me of Carrick - Van Persie. It was around September when Fergie realized that you can just ping the ball forward through the center and RvP will score.

It doesn't look like Carrick is capable of such passes anymore on a regular basis, but we finally have someone with a vision and technical capability to make them

Of course Ibra isn't as sharp as Van Persie was at the time but it was still very dangerous and I expect more goals to come that way

Was the guy doing the pitch invasion on TV today? Some guy who looked a bit pissed trying to talk to Ibra, who just threw him out of the way, bundling over a steward at the same time, before casually walking off.

Didn't see it on Sky, but I didn't watch the post-match stuff after the players had walked off. There's a picture opsted higher up though.

Best he has played for us by a long margin, really lead the line well, not one of those strikers you need to load the bullets for, he'll come out and get involved to create chances. Gutted he didn't get a goal though, he fully deserved one and you always want your striker on the sheet.

He did well, but a lot of players had better games - Pogba and Blind for example, Herrera too maybe. Not to belittle his performance though, he did well, was very involved, and showed his quality a lot.
