He did well, but a lot of players had better games - Pogba and Blind for example, Herrera too maybe. Not to belittle his performance though, he did well, was very involved, and showed his quality a lot.

Definitely, I agree those three were better and i would say mata first half anyway was too. Still his best performance for us though.

Im not really a Zlatan fan, but i was impressed with him today, maybe he didn't score, but his over all game was great, he was far more involved in the game then usual, he tracked back, pressed, linked play well...... overall very impressed.

He keeps playing like he did today and i might become a Zlatan fan.

Good game, he enjoyed it and I enjoyed watching him. Too bad he didn't score, he really deserved it.

Nothing about him has surprised me so far. Works hard at regaining the ball and closing down, tries clever flicks and touches, is enough of a goalscoring egomaniac that he'll take the shot on rather than hesitate, drops deep and wants to start team moves and has the physique to hold up the ball and to win a lot of long balls that come his way.

Ecstatic that we bought him. People who get hung up on age need to take a look at what the trajectory of the player's form has been, rather than just the amount of times someone's gone 'round the sun.

Very good today best performance so far, but needs to be a bit calmer with his finishing and stop trying to acrobatically Kung Fu smash every ball that comes to him into the top corner.

All that was lacking from Zlatan today was a goal which, in fairness, he should have had. It really was a true centre forward's performance. He picks his spots, of course, but I feel that's a product of experience and intelligence (and probably age, to a small extent), rather than laziness. He works very hard and is much more of a team player than I had expected. I love that he reacts so positively when others are scoring - contrast that to Ronaldo, who always looks aggrieved when anyone other than him scores. I can certainly see why Jose was so eager to bring him in.

He needs that freedom to thrive, dropping Rooney frees up space for him to get more involved in the game and it showed. I've been slightly disappointed with his finishing though, he could have easily had about 8-9 goals so far.

Agree with that. Had 8 attempts on goal v City and probably ended up scoring the hardest chance. Yesterday another 4/5 and again the one he went closest (Ziegler save) was probably the one that was least a chance if that makes sense.

People talk about on ball, involvement in build up, link up play... But forget other part like the presence (not the size) of him imposing on Leicester back line (could say the same vs Northampton when he came on despite he didn't really do much to influence that game), his pressing, closing defenders nod force mistake... compare to a certain individual, that alone is street apart. Rewatch the Pogba goal, Zlatan played his marker around. There are more moments like this throughout game where his movement make the mess out of his marker. Unlike this certain individual who runs a lot but found lacking in some sharp movement to disturb the opponent's defensive unit. Mourinho is not OTT with the"phenomenal" comment.

He really is slow isn't he?

35 and still has the stamina to run during that break in the first half, really is something. Not to mention having the awareness and skill to pull off nice skilled pass to Rashford. Simply another level type of striker, that United sorely missed all these years.

Him playing that deep dropping center forward role was one of the biggest positives of our games against Leicester from a tactical point of view. He's basically doing the same things Rooney does in the #10 role but also being our centre forward. I've often felt that Rooney sometimes merely occupies a position these days for the sake of it rather than genhinely offering something unique.

With Zlatan dropping deep it allowed an extra body in the centre and space for quick runners to get into from both wife position. I thought it worked superbly. Plus, Zlatan is actually really classy on the ball which makes it logical.

According to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet he will miss the game against Zorya Luhansk because he has been granted a short vacation.

On the field, Ibra looks like he respects Rashford from a footballing perspective, and to be honest, I can't really think of a better mentor for Rashford at this moment in time. Brilliant addition to the squad.

I tend to judge strikers by the amount of goals scored/created.
But against LCFC, apart from his goal scoring, the guy was immense.
As long as we have runners around him, this guy can orchestrate our attacks.
He is the puppet master and I wouldn't mind him playing as a No.10 with Rashford in front of him.

I'd want to see not only Rashford but Martial as well. The three of them could rip defences apart if it worked correctly.

It was widely accepted that Mata had the best first touch in our team but after watching Ibra a lot closer he has the best touch in our team IMO.

I've seen balls cannoned at him which he takes in his stride with absolute ease. It makes a lot more sense how he's been able to prolong his career at such a high level because his touch buys him all the time he needs so his lack of speed isn't as detrimental to his game as other players in their mid 30s.

whilst some could complain of favouritism, I think this is good work on Jose's behalf. We need to keep his legs fresh for the matches we have coming up.

He's playing well but truthfully, I have been expecting better finishing from someone of his caliber. Hope it's a temporary thing. As our main striker we need him to be 100% reliable.

Reminds one of Henrik Larsson - intelligent, imposing and selfless - a great signing and influencer - BTW his autobio is hilarious and insightful!

Strikers will always miss chances, though.

Since his move to Manchester United, the French press cannot stop talking about Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but not solely because of his performances for the Premier League club.

His departure from the Ligue 1 champions, followed by the arrival of a new manager, has caused the team to struggle a bit, demonstrated by their rather embarrassing 2-0 loss to Toulouse at the weekend.

While it might seem like a ridiculous comparison to make, the Swede’s departure appears to have had a similar effect to Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement at Manchester United.

You might scoff at this, but Ryad Boudebouz, Montpellier’s forward, explained to Canal+,relayed by Canal Supporters, that Zlatan leaving has given everyone else in the league a boost.

He said: “Ibrahimovic’s departure has made PSG more fragile. When he was here, they were way more impressive. These days, Paris are doubting themselves a bit, and the teams are less scared, we go at them and they don’t like it.

“That’s it, you need to bully this Paris team. They’re talented players, if you let them play, you concede three or four.”

Does this sound familiar, Manchester United fans?

At least Paris Saint-Germain don’t have David Moyes as their new manager.

He basically had no keeper in the net with one player on the line and effectively made a weak pass to that player. It was a shocking miss.

Don't remember that. Even so, he had no business scoring that goal before the half so it all evens out.

Edit. Just rewatched the end of the first half. He could've definitely done better on that one.
