He's made some great runs tonight, a bit unfortunate that Pogba's the only one providing any kind of service.

I was thinking the same thing. He should get more service from our players. It seems it's only Pogba who see his runs.

Mourinho's probably got an individual training program for him.

"I feel good," he said. "I feel in shape. The boss has made a good programme for me since the start. He has been adapting my physical point of view and the way I can play every game. He has to get the credit for that. The mixture between training, recovery and the game, I do it differently, and he set it up for me. So that’s why I can hold out for so long. And, when you have a body like me, it’s not a normal body. It’s like when you see an animal. It goes in and is fresh always so I see myself as an animal."

Strong game from Ibra, his hold up play was impeccable and you can tell he dislikes this lot, he was pumped to get a goal. :D

I am betting for Zlatan recovery means time off and training means bathtime with some ladies. Then he plays games.

After a quick check this seems to be legit. fake news paranoia is strong in me
Unreal.

Much like Sachin Tendulkar, he is delivering his best ever form in his latter years.

I really hope we can squeeze 2 more years out of him so he can front a real go at the ECL in 2018/19

Zlatan gave a much better performance without scoring today compared to his hat trick in the first leg. Weird but true. Excellent build up play, couple of long range shots, good dribbles and unlucky not to score

@Cassidy & @RedMaestro Shame on me, I stand corrected:) Although, I am not sure if Totti plays regurarly these days, let alone when he was around 35 or 36.

Season 11/12 = 31 matches and 8 goals and 8 assists (all comp) - season 12/13 = 37 matches and 12 goals and 14 assists (all comp)

Not as good as Ibra, but still really good.

Good game from Ibra today, wanted to score. Hope he'll score on Sunday instead.

Blind should have done so much better to find him for a tap in. Zlatan is a beast and proof that anybody that uses age of 30-35 as an excuse as to why they cant hack it, is either lazy or doesnt look after themselves properly.

18/19 is interesting but might be too far by then, but next season I expect the value of already having a season's worth of experience in the Premier League will outweigh the impact of an additional year on the body.

The wrong offside call really pissed him off. Another beautiful Pogba-Zlatan potential goal. Shame it's ruined by the inept linesman

I don't believe thats necessarily true, it's very rare for a player to be playing to such a high level at Zlatan's age. And there are no doubt many ultra professional players who's body just couldn't hack it anymore at the highest level once they got the wrong side of 30 and into their mid 30's.

Indeed, not bad at all, and it is impressive.

He hasn't tweeted since winning the community shield, I think we can see what he wants as his next tweet. Roll on Sunday.

Imagine benching this guy for somebody like Rashford.
He is one of the best signings if not the best in recent years. Just oozes class and has exemplary professionalism.

Franco Baresi and Billy Costacurta as well.

It might make sense though that most older players mentioned, except Sheringham, played in Serie A. Serie A is famous for being more tactical with a lower tempo and lower pressure.

Maybe makes Zlatan feat even more impressing.

Thats probably why you see serie A clubs sign and keep older players like Evra, Dani Alves etc. Dont want to take anything away from players like Zanetti and Maldini tho. Its amazing to be able to play on that high level at that age.

I know Ibrahimovic has been taking good care of his body since his Juventus days. Maybe earlier. He doesnt drink alcohol or out late partying that often. And of course genes has something to do it. But there's a lesson here to learn for young players.

Seems like he has started to settle in and gear up now. I think United and Zlatan will play much better this second half of the season. My predictions are 2nd place after Chelsea. And Zlatan POTY if they don't give it to a Chelsea player.

Is it true that he is missing lot of simple chances, I agree, but he also creates lots of them (just check the stats) and basically he creates spaces for the other players to find easy spots to score.

He's been a superb signing for us, for free, and I am sure he will score plenty of more goals!

Cheers lads & have a nice day!

Was it really wrong? We never got to see a replay from a good angle, so I don't know.

TIL that Ibrahimovic is older than Kaka

That absolutely blew my mind

Apparently delaying his contract extension until CL football is guaranteed next season.

Do one Zlatan.

Just paper talk right now, pure guess work as to why he hasn't signed yet.

We'll make the CL one way or another so I'm not worried about that, I'm more worried at how fitting he would find finishing his top flight career by winning a European final at his national arena. :nervous:

 What a stupid thing to say. Zlatan is a statistical outlier. One example does not "prove" anything about all other footballers and their natural physical decline.

Many people say we should have signed him several years ago. Several years ago Zlatan had an awful physic and weighted probably over 100kg. He has not always been an excellent player during his career. In 2006 he had a real low.

He won't leave. He's already said that he won't leave without winning the PL. And he's already said many times before that he's basically "given" up on the hunt for CL and that he's proud of what he's achieved and that by winning it won't change anything.

The only way he'll leave is if Manchester United don't want him, or he doesn't feel that he can give his all or if the club won't "invest" in new players to improve the squad, since he'll most likely want to leave as a winner...

Awful psysique? You're wrong, he was trained in that way, they wanted a "bulldozer". Later in his career, the clubs and he himself wanted to be more lean and fast that's why he lost the weight - less muscle building.

During 2006 he had groin issues and that was the reason he had a "low" period. No player is good when they have injuries...

Stop lying please. Zlatan was a skinny guy in Ajax and his first year in Juventus, a normal build guy for his height in Inter and Barcelona. He became the beast he his today in Milan and PSG where he build a lot of muscles and gained weight. (Probably why he still can play on the same level).

Dear oh dear, I missed that comment about Rooney over Zlatan. Truley unbelievable!

TBF Rooney has fallen off a cliff this season.

I will be honest, I am not a fan of Zlatan, probably because I prefer free flowing, dynamic attacking football and I feel Zlatan prevents that somewhat. Don't get me wrong he's scored some important goals (and missed some absolute sitters) but his general involvement during the build up play tends to result in us losing the ball or slowing down the attack.

Now if rumours are to be believed, he's saying he won't be signing for us if we're not in the CL, at 36 he should be bitting our hand off and committing to the club.

To a point I don't disagree with you, I find Zlatan incredibly frustrating and sometimes he seems lazy in the build up.

However I'm sure i saw a stat recently where Zlat runs on average as much as Alexis and he's currently our best striker by a long way!
