Xherdan Shaqiri

Sammer said in a statement that Shaqiri will not leave Munich.

I hope it's true. He's a great guy and tremendous player. With Kroos leaving and Ribery slumping like crazy and getting older, I can definitely see more minutes for him. If he stays injury free and gets a proper saison in his legs, he can turn into a monster.

He's a great player, another that falls into the category of if available we should bid for him.

If we weren't linked with Di Maria, I'd be all over Shaqiri. If anything, I prefer the latter anyway due to the former's ability to completely lose his decision making at times like Nani.

Will probably join Liverpool if he's to join the PL unfortunately. Was a big fan of him when we played against Basel.

He needs to stop hitting the gym. Surely as a winger doesn't need to be so bulky.

He's quick and agile enough for a winger, so his bulkiness is not a problem. What he lacks is an awareness of his surroundings which leads to bad decision-making, his one-footedness is also an issue as well as a his first touch.

If you've got a LB who only has a good left foot, which happens quite often, then you cannot use Shaqiri as your left winger, because every defender will know that none of their opponents will try to cut inside. Even Arjen Robben uses his right foot more often than Xherdan Shaqiri.

Then we've got general issues at RW and CAM which effectively brought Shaqiri the label of a "turnover machine" among some Bayern fans. He receives the ball in an advanced position, his first touch won't go his way, then the defenders close in on him, yet he will continue to dribble, without seeing the better positioned team-mate, until he simply loses possession. It's painful to watch and hurts possession oriented teams immensely, which is why he didn't get to play there a lot under Heynckes or Guardiola.

It's a pity, because once he's in a promoising position and aware of his surroundings, his through-balls can be actually quite deadly. I'd say there's nobody on this current Bayern team who can play them better than Shaqiri, but the Swiss rarely gets the opportunity to show these talents, because of the above described issues.

However, his playing stile would admittedly be a much better fit in England, where he isn't confronted by deep-sitting and counter-attacking teams every week. So who knows, maybe he'd be a good fit for you guys.

Gianluca Di Marzio saying that Bayern might be interested to loan him out for a season. They'd never loan to us but he'd be an excellent addition for a season if we wanted to play 433 at times...Januzaj is definitely not quite ready to start all of our games and Shaqiri physically would be ready for the premier league...anyways will never happen but nice to dream

If we hadn't signed Di Maria I'd be all for it. He's a player I've admired for years. Just love his playing style.

Hope he won't go to anyone else in the league. Reckon he'll do well here.

We dont need him and from what he said in an interview just days ago would indicate that he wants to stay

Would not will.

Might would be more apt, besides which he won´t because he isn´t.

Why not? Would get to work under an experienced manager who gives young players a chance, we aren't in Europe so we'd be more likely to get him on loan than the top clubs as Bayern could end up playing them.

If he helps get us back into Europe then training a Bayern player for a year is still good business, the player might like it here too and if he doesn't make it at Bayern we would have a chance of signing him.

If we could address the CM issue then I think we should also think about Shaqiri if he was available. I would sell Young and sign him.

I'd take him. If we do change to playing wingers, we only have Di Maria and Januzaj anyways of the standard required.

Yeah true. We are probably the only team that can do that, most teams barely have one left footed attacking player.
If we were to place Shaw as a "CB" we would have:
Shaw-Rojo-Blacket/Evans
Which means we still ned a few left foot signing for the midtfield :D

There is no difference and I was not batting an eyelash. No idea how you came to that conclusion.
Relax... wasn't meant too serious. I was just reminded of a quote by Werner Lorant, formerly 1860, that he wouln't be "so stupid to play with 7 leftfooted players" whereas he obviously had no objection toward playing with 7 rightfooted ones... ;)

Lorant has said so many shit in his career I didn't even remember that. I think I'm over to youtube now looking for a best of video from Lorant, Meyer, Toppmöller or Neuruer just for the good old times where Bundesliga coaches more reminded you of the guys you would meet in a pub than professional sport coaches.

Toppmöller was a brilliant coach though. The others not so much.

Add Christoph Daum to that, i recall a real gem from him where he made quite clear that for him, homosexuality and pedophilia were the same thing.

And make that "you'd leave the pub immediately if people like them were in it" :D

DO not want - not intelligent enough for LvG I think. If we get a new winger let's get intelligent players. He'd only be a slight upgrade on Young mentally.
