Xherdan Shaqiri

We should go all out to buy Reus instead, he is a world class game changer, adding him and bringing a in form Nani back would pretty much give us the best attack in world football imo. Other targets I would pursue before Shaqiri...

Reus
Pedro
Draxler
Bale (lol, Maybe Madrid will be after a new toy?)

Shaqiri would be a quality addition though and I'd gladly take him, we need to keep improving positions to build a top 1/2/3 world football squad again, so getting Shaqiri would certainly help in getting that level up.

Do not want. We need to sign a top quality winger, not another rather average one.

Reus is too injury prone sadly plus whole Europe will be after him, but still I'd rather sign no winger than Shaqiri. Seems a Spurs/Liverpool type of signing to me.

Wow, apparently if a player picks up more than one injury these days he must be classed as "Injury prone" seriously wdf? He's averaged over 45 games a season for Dortmund and over 38 games a season for Gladbach, so why are you calling him injury prone?

People say the same with Hummels, even though he's averaged over 40 games a season too, they've just been unfortunate with a few injuries recently, but they are both far from injury prone. Diaby, Wilshere (maybe) etc those are injury prone players.

I would take him as long as Herrera isn't involved in the deal. That would be weakening our squad not strengthening it.

Where did the Herrera rumours come from? And how often did player swap deals actually happen in the past? I'm sure there are at least 5 rumours about swap deals in every transfer window and not once did we make such a deal. I highly doubt we're interested in Herrera anyway. It's the usual lazy journalism, two of our midfielders get injured and all of a sudden, we panic buy quality midfielders from other top teams in Europe. It's nonsense.

The Express, who every day tell us the whole world is going to die from bird flu, that you shouldn't eat this or that, that it is going to be the hottest/coldest summer in history and that Princess Di was abducted by aliens. You're right it's rubbish.

Not particularly keen on Shaqiri. Not convinced he is good enough. Would prefer Depay, and I also don't agree with a growing consensus to throw Januzaj in the bin either.

As far as young wingers go, he's as good as any, and I fully expect him to prove so.

Also, would prefer Dougie Costa to him if we were going down that kind of route. Still think he has it in him to be really top class.

Reus is constantly injured, not exactly ideal given we already have enough players who are constantly injured.

In the last 5 seasons Reus has played between 35 and 45 games each season. He has had 3 minor ankle injuries this year and the latest one was the result of a dreadful tackle rather than any fragility.

Van Gaal still says the squad is unbalanced and there is still some trimming to do. In the summer can see one of Young or Valencia leaving. Presume Nani has gone, its questionable if Mata will be here.. And if he plays his preferred 4-3-3, do we really need 4 centre forwards?

Theres no reason why we can not get Reus as well. Will be approx only 35m for the both, so whatever money we have in the the summer, spend it on the defense and midfield.

Jamie Jackson just tweeted that LVG is holding talks with some Bayern officials tonight. Could it be related to this lad?

Nah, they are probably drinking and making fun of our players.

Jackson lies again......i really don't know why he isn't on the banned list like Palmeri

Also why hasn't he been banned from United press conferences post bellendgate and the Falcao shenanigans ?

Thomas Muller, Robben and Schweinsteiger are all about to be linked to United if LvG is really spotted there.

Just pray we don’t take the little Shaqiri. I follow him since he played in Switzerland, and I wasn’t really impressed by him. During the world cup, he was presented as the main danger for his nation, but was just average. So ok, he does play ok at Bayern since 2-3 years, but remember that Nani was also great when we were top of the world in 2008/2009, and so does Anderson.

Sometimes players are left from the squad for tactical issues, or for their behavior, but in his case it’s just because he’s good enough, and I would rather let Adnan develop himself than having another offensive player, and especially an average one.

I hope that LVG was there for another player, or maybe to lure the mighty Dr Müller Wohlfahrt to cure our players :D

They already were when LvG was appointed.

I hope for both side's sake that Shaqiri finds a new club soon. He just doesn't seem to have the mindset to make it at one of the big clubs at the moment. The constant bickering about not playing more since the season preparation, fueled by his heroic hattrick against Honduras and his brother/advisor I guess, his horribly lacklustre performances when fielded and his remarks about having proven that he can be a regular starter for Bayern have probably done more than enough to make sure he'll be shipped off.

I was a huge fan when he joined us and thought he'd turn into a real monster in a few years time but his developement stagnated completely. Time to try his luck somewhere else.

We should have let him go in the summer, when he clearly wanted to. Never understood why we kept him. I'm pretty sure that Sammer and Guardiola told him often enough that he's an excellent player and a worthy part of the team, so I'm not surprised that he believes it and is frustrated because he doesn't get to play. It's a shit situation for him and after 2 years of waiting and no chance of becoming a regular starter in the near future, he should have been allowed to leave. The fact that we kept him tells that his attitude is still very good in my opinion. If he caused problems in the dressing room or looked lackluster in training, we would have sold him.

Beckenbauer said:
"Bayern have already sent out a signal and indicated to him that he can probably go in the winter break, when he wants," he 69-year-old told Sky.
"I think it's a shame because he is a great talent."

We'd somehow contrive to make Shaqiri a £30m footballer, despite the fact he's done nothing to justify it.

I remember someone explaining that it was virtually impossible for Manchester United to have a good deal, because everyone knows that they create money easily, so when Manchester try to negociate, the other part refuse to revise their price.

Yup. These days it costs around 30 million Euros to sign squad players that will not start every game.

We should be looking at TOP players that will elevate us. Even for the €12.5m that is being thrown around, not worth the time.

Type of player I thought Liverpool would have been after in the summer.

Personally, as good as he is, I'd have Reus or Depay instead.

At the moment we have 2 wingers in the team Di Maria and Januzaj, most people in here want to see both play in different positions CM and #10, so we have virtually no wingers in the team.

And some of us want to snub a decent winger who could cost 9m£?

Even if he wasn't a starter in a couple of years, a backup for that price is a gift, if the price is correct we should sign him, it's not as if we didn't had room for wingers.

Why? Shaqiri is way better than Depay and has as much potential, Depay got a better mentality tho.

We should sign him, he has all the ability, needs confidence and rythmn, with right mentoring and time he can truly become world class. So fast, strong, explosive, deceiving dribble, super powerful shot and goal scoring ability, for 12,5 million, he's a bargain.

Shaqiri is better at the moment, but if we're signing potential then I believe that Depay potentially has a higher ceiling than Shaqiri.

Edit: Don't get me wrong, Shaqiri would be a good signing nonetheless.
