VAR, Refs and Linesmen | General Discussion

Only way to solve this issue is to feck off VAR entirely for all but goal line/offside & force referees to front up after a game.

There is no way that referees should be absolved of all responsibility the second a game ends. People had pitchforks out for 5 days after the Bruno goal yet it’ll be crickets for the decisions made here.

English referees hate the idea of VAR and are doing everything they can to undermine it.

Can Fabinho still be banned on review?

There's no way that's not a red card. And screwing up the development of a prospect like Ferguson in the process as well. Scandalous. Twat.

Somehow we ended up with much worse refs after Moss, Dean and Atkinson all retired.

Fabinho not getting a red was ridiculous, what donkey is looking at that tackle and deciding its not worth a sending off?! Even Fabinho looked like he was just waiting for it

What ya expect, you got a media moaning about decisions that are correct, and having these mad debates where they seem raging about the rules being enforced, and goals being rightfully chalked of because they offside, and you got ex players talking about they don't like it because it taking the emotion away from the goals, even when they not legit goals............

But now you got the VAR not even doing their job properly and the media seem to be ok with them getting the decisions wrong and letting stuff go.

It's a mess at the moment. Been clear orders sent down to only make calls on offsides. So you got basically shit refs making the same shite decisions.

Konate could and should be retroactively banned for that challenge considering the referee missed it completely.

Spoiler: He won’t.

I thought they can't change yellows to red, only if the ref never spotted it at all. But the rules keep changing so who knows

This is a brutal level of VAR and refeering. Absolutly brutal and I don't know what they teach at headquearters but they have lot to do to fix this. 90% of fans, players and everybody involved don't know anymore what rules are. They just making it up as it goes.

Refs are to blame for a huge amount
They've let fernandinho and fabinho away with murder for years, rodri too. Not clamping down on blatant yellows will lead to blatant red card tackles.

I’m still in shock at the Fabinho non red.

and still miffed they didn’t check the barge through the back when being last man making it a red card decision

That Fabinho "review" is one of the worst VAR decisions you'll see, should've been sent off twice over.

The real villain is the VAR official. The ref should've gave red but the VAR had multiple angles and still thought; "That's fine."

Neil Swarbrick should never be allowed on VAR duty again.

That's a disgusting decision.

I honestly can't believe how poorly VAR is still being applied. It's madness. If you put a couple of neutral football fans (if there is such a thing) in a room with the TV feed, I bet they could do a better job.

When even the player thinks he's being sent off - you know you've probably made the wrong decision.

Fabinho looked like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

It's mad that only challenges in the pen area can be reviewed unless they're serious foul play.
That foul on MacAllister fell in the cracks of the rules.
Fabinho was obvious red. Robertson not long after was a real piss take but maybe got away with it being on the low side.
But Fabinho from behind and that high was a joke.

A fuss should be made of this to pressure retrospective action

Yep, the Brighton manager should highlight it, or failing that G Nev or our manager.

Get real scrutiny on them like when Klopp commented on our pens and we didn't get another one for months.

At this point you have to wonder whether the refs want to get rid of VAR, and are deliberately ignoring/sabotaging it. Or maybe there are bad incentives involved, which discourages the use of VAR?

De Zerbi comes across to me as too noble to attack the officials in his post-match interview but he really needs to highlight this scandal and protect his players going forward.

Seldom* have we seen such inept, bias refereeing.
