VAR, Refs and Linesmen | General Discussion

The Liverpool penalty is very soft. It is technically a penalty. But that's besides the point, because the problem is 99 times out of 100 it doesn't get given as a penalty because the onfield ref doesn't give it and VAR wouldn't intervene.

That's the problem for me it's either a penalty 100 times out of a 100, or it's never a penalty.

Realistically even with VAR alot of decisions are still at the whim of the onfield ref. And it creates alot of inconsistency still.

The Liverpool penalty, followed by the non penalty for Everton on match of the day.

Hughes should have been sent off whe the game was 0-0. Refs are so inconsistent and just make up the rules as they go.

How did he avoid a booking for kicking the ball away?

He also did a high, late challenge like 1 minute after Maguire did a genuine attempt at a tackle and got a yellow and yet the ref shook his head when Maguire pressed him on it.

Absolutely. He should have had at least three yellows.

Also, why do we hardly ever see replays of our strong penalty claims. fecking odd.

Yeah that pissed me off, two incidents in the space of 3 seconds and they don’t show the replay for them?

My conspiracy is that the media are complicit. The bigger deal they make of it, the more it’s likely to get looked at. They never fecking looking at ours for longer than 10 seconds, if at all.

How is it very soft? It's obviously accidental, but he clearly connects with his leg which is what causes the trip.

And if it were our player going down like that it would get brushed off by the ref, who would be doing the crossing of his hands while repeatedly saying "it's a coming together", and everyone would just nod and agree "yeah he's just running and their feet come together so it's accidental and no penalty for me".

'Not in a game like this, mate'

"The Premier League declined to list the nine missed interventions, but did outline the four errors to media." Fair enough, that would be too much work.

REALLY var. This guy is not interfering with the keepers ability to see the shot coming? Like, really?!?!
I’d argue the big red line in front of him is more distracting.

If you’re trying to say this was an error then I’m afraid you are mistaken. VAR works perfectly outside of England.

He wasnt even called to the screen :wenger:

Funnily enough over here England is still also the pinnacle of great refereeing according to mkst.

I feel like I’m commenting here every game.
I feel like Alex fecking Jones. It’s so hard not to think that referees aren’t conspiring against us when every single referee, match after match is constantly giving every 50-50 against us and refusing the big decisions

Even obvious fouls that are given literally 10/10 don’t seem to be blown for us.

I feel like these cnuts see it as a badge of honour fecking us over after the Fergie years. I would understand it if it was the same refs but none of these cnuts were even around during his era.

Looks like another totally incompetent official. The hilarious Leicester foul throw not given after being earned from a united foul throw is the stuff of parody

I’m not placing any more multi bets that include bookings against United opponents because it just doesn’t happen!

See that’s a deserved yellow for Ugarte there. However there was a scissor tackle on a United player in the first half completely ignored.

I wish a United player would take a leaf from the Leicester defenders book and position themselves on the edge of the box when we’re about to cross. That’s like 5 crosses or cutbacks now which a Leicester player in acres of space on the edge of their area has had time to kill the ball and push it out.

yeah. fecking refs.

You guys do realize there’s no VAR for this game, right?

First comes into play in next FA cup round
