VAR, Refs and Linesmen | General Discussion

My god we finally got one! We got a decision!

We’re done for the rest of the season now though.

can't believe there was football wihout VAR for a long time

Yeah we’re going to be paying for that one for a long time. They will still be talking about it next weekend.

Tough game again. We are getting 99% of decisions against us. What it feels like. We need our club leadership to say something.

Close the thread. There's just nothing to be said anymore. That ref could not have done more for Leicester if they paid him.

How the feck did the linesman not spot that, sure there was 4 of our lot offside:lol:

Oh God, we're going to suffer for that offside for the next month, aren't we?

The refs were terrible all game and that offside summed up the performance. We basically don't get any 50-50 fouls at all. Leicester took 1+ minute on every dead ball and we got 3 minutes of added time. Ah well all worth it fir the offside

Think we can guess the hot topic for the next few months.

The country will need at least 3 red cards and 3 soft pens against United to make up for it.

Yeah, while he was very poor and mostly ruled against us... he did allow our winner from a glaringly obvious offside.

Football without a VAR is just terrible.. nothing charming about this.

If United win any trophy in the next 5 years it will be because of this offside that wasn't called.

thankfully wasnt his call. and that decision will now override 90 minutes of just awful calls.

I like when he gave a foul throw against Maz, only for the Leicester player to then literally run onto the pitch for his throw in... Which was fine obviously

Thankfully benefited us but the linesman should be punished. Maguire is the first player in his line of sight. How does he not see it?

Nah I have no delusions about this United team, we are a physically timid team and get bullied easily but that leads to a situation where our players can't get most common fouls as well

There was a moment around the 75th minute where United players literally gave away a throw because they stopped playing convinced that Zirkzee had the most obvious free kick but the ref gave a Leicester free kick

It's a comically bad mistake and the guy needs to be penalised for it. I'd much rather these occasional howlers than the drudgery of VAR though. Maybe it's because my team are winning a lot, but Leeds have had a few poor decisions go against us in the Championship; even so and as galling as it is I still find the lack of VAR an improvement.

The absurdity of VAR discussions in two United decisions.
1. Tonights decision has already seen outcry about why we need Var, because United scored a late late winner that was offside. There is general online outcry and shouting that this is exactly why we need var.

yet.

2. Just a few games ago, in this exact competition, Coventry had a late late goal ruled out by VAR, and the reaction was that VAR has ruined football.

Either this shows that the var discussion is pointless, or that peoples feelings on it are based on what they want to see happen Man Utd.

Maguire was the first one he could see
I think he was guessing. By the time Maguire is running in at goal there’s a blue player level with him. The linesman probably assumed he was there the whole time, which he obviously shouldn’t do.

Disagree tonight. Thought the ref had a good game and we ended up with a really poor offside goal.

They wouldn't still be talking about this offside on the telly if Leicester scored it though.

It would be glossed over and straight into United should have been better blah blah blah.

Good conclusion

The press will moan about no VAR, for the rest of the next week. When they should be questioning how the assistant could see that.

Went in our favor though so
