We need a caf supported youtube channel that just keeps track of this shit. It happens with alarming frequency that we get screwed by these shit refs.
The rules couldn’t be clearer on this:
“Where a player commits an offence against an opponent within their own penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and the referee awards a penalty kick, the offender is cautioned if the offence was an attempt to play the ball or a challenge for the ball; in all other circumstances (e.g. holding, pulling, pushing, no possibility to play the ball etc.), the offending player must be sent off.”
How was it possible to play the ball with that challenge? How does one ref forget that rule along with a whole VAR team?

Felt for him. Looked absolutely gutted giving us that penaltyHow reluctant was the ref to give that penalty for assault?
Shoulda been red too
I mean, we got lucky with that goal being ruled out. It was a foul but it didn’t really affect the play.
Eh? Dalot was literally fouled while trying to clear the ball!I mean, we got lucky with that goal being ruled out. It was a foul but it didn’t really affect the play.
The clearance would have been the same either way, is what I meant.Eh? Dalot was literally fouled while trying to clear the ball!
Pretty sure it’s against the rules to book Ugarte after the advantage as he didn’t stop the attack.
According to IFAB you can’t book him:It’s not. The refs been horrid but this isn’t something you can blame him on
Is this new? They go back and book players all the timeAccording to IFAB you can’t book him:
“If the referee plays advantage following a yellow-card offence, the card must be shown when the game next stops. However, if the offence was stopping or interfering with a promising attack, no card is shown, as the advantage allowed the promising attack to continue.”
The last year or so I think. Depends on what they’re getting booked for. If it’s reckless then can still get booked. I doubt Ugarte’s challenge meets that criteria. Is this new? They go back and book players all the time
