VAR, Refs and Linesmen | General Discussion

It's clearly a handball. Just frustrating that we still haven't seen the offside lines or a replay of our handball claim. They sure make it hard to trust var with that kinda consistency
VAR check every goal. The idea they didn't check that goal is ridiculous man. It was so blatantly onside it probably took a glance at most.

The potential handball in the Liverpool box more interesting but looked like Rasmus hand? Be curious to see a replay though.

How this guy is allowed to referee our games I will never know. Just booked Maguire for winning the ball off Salah.

We never get that penalty and that's the key for me.

And now Maguire booked for getting the ball when he's let MacAllister and Van Dijk get away with cynical fouls in this game stopping breaks.

100% we don't get handballs anymore. And we wouldnt have had that one.

I doubt anyone can confidently say what’s a handball and what’s not nowadays. Absolute joke.

Oliver is corrupt plain and simple. Match going Newcastle fan and paid on the side by City's owners. How can he be unbiased?

I mean, I never said that they don't check every goal. I think it was tight and we should've seen the lines. My point is that when they're inconsistent about what they show it becomes harder to trust the decisions. It's not like refs and var have never made a mistake.

Clearly it's accidental, so what rule does it breach for that one? Unnatural position? I thought it was changed?

This is a pen, no?

On the evidence of the penalty they were given, yes. Personally think both would have been very harsh as the arms have got to go somewhere but you can’t give them a penalty and not even check potentially the exact same thing for us.

I hate some of the limitations unnecessarily applied to VAR. Some obvious decisions, like a corner that wasn’t, don’t get checked when they could so easily be corrected with minimal delay.

The worst is yellow cards not being changeable. That challenge by Nunez was a red for serious foul play. No attempt to play the ball and trying to hurt the defender.

Probably didn't think there was any need. He looked well on to me though I am half blind.

That lino on the far side. Calling Garnacho offside on a close call when basically 1vs1 on last man. And then watching Amad getting fouled in front of his face refusing to flag.

That was insane, can’t believe he didn’t flag that

This. The whole refereeing team were erring towards Liverpool

Absolutely nothing will be said because it’s United but that’s one of the most one-eyed officiating performances I’ve seen in this league. The few major calls/non-calls were obvious talking-points but the micro-calls in the Scousers’ favour all game long were inexplicable: the Maguire ‘foul’ on Salah (and resulting booking); the linesman not flagging for Robertson’s 10-second manhandle of Amad despite standing four feet away; the incessant tactical fouling from them in the transition going unpunished, and on and on.

A complete shitshow but it won’t be called out. Somebody in the club needs to show leadership on this and call it out for what it is.

Not only that but that rat Robertson didn't even get booked for that, or kicking the ball away or mouthing off at the ref after.

Dalot was sent off for much less last season.

Shocking stuff. Something we are used to. ”Play on” from his side despite Robertson ripping arm and also shirt for about 10-15 sec.

There is no question that we are being treated different. Same thing every year for a long period now. We need our club leadership to make some statement.

Was the Nunez one even checked? Jumping shoulder first into the defenders face has to be deemed dangerous play does it?
I can understand why the penalty was given. His hand is way too high there. Why the Liverpool handball wasn't checked I don't understand. Not saying it was a penalty as I have not seen it in slow motion but it was definitely worth a look.

I used to hate Cuneyt Cakir for the Nani incident but I never thought I could hate a referee as much as I hate this fish-faced corrupt twat that Michael Oliver is.
