United aiming to sell Harry Maguire next summer according to Jamie Jackson

If he can control his hooligan English instincts and behaviour off shore then a move to serie A makes a lot sense. I’m sure Jose would love him at Roma.

With Smalling and Maguire as CBs?

Maybe spurs. Hes a counter attacking team defender. He has no speed so has to play in a counter attacking team.
He was great for Leicester. Keeps the ball long enough to draw players to him and releases it to midfield who quickly try to get it forward for Vardy to chase down. Very effective in terms of disrupting opposition pressing and getting the ball behind them. I reckon he was fine under Ole when we played a more counter attacking style and the system was probably let down by a fairly poor midfield and not him.

I think you will find you will be giving him away rather than selling him. I dont see which club could pay his wages on top of a decent transfer fee. He is also 29 so there will be no resale value for his new club. His total cost will therefore be his wage + his transfer fee as its dead money to clubs.

From an economic point of view, he is practically worthless. Like PEA was to us. That means free transfer or at best a huge discount price. Ive heard figures of 40m ect. Why and who? I you get an offer of 15m take it and run.

It would be the correct move. No longer first choice and I don’t think there’s any way back for him. I don’t think he works as a squad player because his timing just seems off every time he comes into the team.

We need a more physically dynamic backup.

Tend to agree but you forget one huge factor. Harry's passport. It over rates you and adds non existent value to your price

I mean he's still dogshite in his time here but it doesnt take a rocket scientist to know these players are crap and dont belong to United (except Woodward and Ole ?)
I just remember RR getting beat up on here, and people claiming he was clueless. The minute ETH was a real possibility, I knew Maguire would never make it in an ETH style team. Again, people here kept saying how great he’d be under ETH and how Lindelof wouldn’t get any minutes while it’s proven to be the opposite .

Players like Tyrone Ming's fee to Villa is evident that United could easily get upwards of 30 million for him. 29 years of age is also not a significant Burden when it comes to acquisitions Chelsea have shown this alongside Madrid (Rudiger, Koulibaly, Silva). The question is more revolved around what level of club would be willing to give Harry that opportunity. He might have to move abroad.

Same. I'm just an armchair analyst and its obviously impossible to play a high line and progressive football with a slow lumbering titanic CB. This does not include other factor such as the popularity of high press which means your defenders need to be good dribbler and press resistant. All of these skills that maguire doesnt possess.

Probably for the best. Hopefully he can finish here and leave without Manchester United fans further dragging their reputations through the sewers.

Leave him the feck alone and have some fecking pride in yourselves.

The bullying needs to end and that can start here.

Harry probably wants to go as well. Carve out a decent career at a mid table team and stop being a figure of fun. Suits everyone.
I won't call it fun.

He gets trolled on social media even when he's not playing. People are disgusting.

I completely agree with you. Lots of posters here living in fantasy land thinking we can get money for Maguire.

Is that a real question?

Because he has a massive contract, doesn't want to go and no sane club wants to buy him.
And Maguire doesn’t have a massive contract? What makes you think people would buy him?

Rudiger and Silva were both freebies so that's a poor example. Kk may have gone for a fee but he was a genuine world class cb a few years ago. Mings would have been on significantly lower wages at Bournemouth.

I'll ask the question: who do YOU think will buy Maguire for a fee AND pay his wages?

Harry Maguire should be sold as soon as possible. This situation isn't good for him, the club and the manager whose since been hounded by questions as of why he hasn't yet turned him into the new Baresi yet.

If he has any sense he'll go abroad, and ideally to Italy. His reputation abroad is probably not that affected at the moment, the detail doesn't travel well, only headlines. However it will all depend on how he plays at the world cup. Hopefully he'll Poborsky it.

Many teams play 3 the back in Italy, he could look at the likes of Tomori and Smalling performing well in Italy too from the PL.

Bad move. The Serie A clubs don't pay the money the EPL do, there's no bias towards Maguire as in England and pretty soon he'd be forgotten at home just like Smalling, Abraham and Tomori did. In England he'll always be cuddled and protected by pundits and journalists who think that the manager's sole reason for living is to turn Harry Maguire in the next Bobby Moore. Maguire's best option is to return to a club like Leicester.

He is really good for England. In a a defensive team which plays 5atb he’d be amazing.
Italy is a good shout. He wouldn’t look out of place at Juve/Milan/Inter.
Failing that, I can see him dominating in the Scottish league for Celtic or Rangers.

But he doesn’t even need to drop that far, I honestly think he’d do really well at Newcastle/ West Ham/ Spurs or even Chelsea at the moment. He’d be a beast at the back for them.

Hope he gets a move in the summer and I hope it goes well for him. He was ok in his first couple of seasons for us, but there’s been too many feck ups and too much vitriol from United “supporters” now for the the situation to be rescued.

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

If his header vs Villa had gone in my word the British media would have made a huge feast of that.
"Can Martinez score winner?"

All of this discussion over comments from the ever reliably full of shit Jamie Jackson.

Not true. All of our previous managers have signed/retained players that I did not agree with in the past. ETH is the first one where I’ve agreed with all the moves so far.
To be frank, it is the first time in God knows how many years, when the manager agrees in general with the forum sentiment (I.e., we at the Caf consider a certain player to be shit, and the manager plans to sell him).
