Transfer Tweets - Manchester United - 2024/25

He's been fine, not great not terrible. He definitely won't go down as one of the worst as you put it. Total exaggeration.
Agreed, he was overpriced but he's definitely had a few decent seasons here.

Personally I’d like Branthwaite, De Ligt and Kerkez to reinforce the defensive options thus allowing Maguire and Lindelof to depart

I can't remember the last time we were so busy in a transfer window. We might have our business done in time for the pre-season tour at this rate.

Maguire - massive overpay
Fofana - massive crock
Gvardiol - jurys out but so far not worth the price.

I’m not sure about Fofana, but Maguire and Gvardiol had serious international experience before making the transfers they are using as benchmarks.

None of those fees were paid off the back of a single season in which their clubs barely avoided relegation.

It is a tad concerning that we are being linked with two center backs and a winger but absolute radio silence on midfielders where we are arguably still weakest. We basically have one as good as he is, he's a kid.

It’s not radio silence though is it.

We’ve been very widely reported as in negotiations with PSG for Ugarte. He’s still playing in the Copa America so it was never going to be finalised before that’s over.

Has anyone wondered that we are making bids for players that are not starters for club or country ?

Err we’re being heavily linked with Ugarte

You're being very kind by calling him a good servant of the club. He came for a world record fee (one that still hasn't been broken) and stank up the place to championship levels on far far too many occasions. He will be remembered as one of our worst signings when all things are considered.
Now come on. We bought Antony to be the worst signing of all time. Maguire has been decent overall but counting the fee a little below par. He’s good in certain set-ups and not so good in others. We shouldn’t have gone for him though. Think he was a downgrade on Smalling, truth be told.

Thread is filled with tweets about Ugarte, no?

Absolutely not. Harry has been magnificent for us especially before his injury (missing EL final) and just recently. He’s our only defender currently who can stay fit, and despite having the captaincy taken away he has been very dignified about it, and lead this team by example.

Radio silence? Ugarte is a midfielder is he not?

Lead his team by example to an 8th placed finish? Right. The levels of spin on this place would put Alastair Campbell to shame.

What was the point in this bid seriously? Everton have already rejected one stupidly low bid and no doubt indicated what they value him at and that we werent anywhere near their valuation. So we make another bid miles away from anything they would accept??

I mean it's all part of the game. United aren't going to pay £70m because he's not worth that to them. They're trying to get Everton to engage and maybe start to negotiate, but at the moment they're just flat out rejecting.

They'll probably make one more bid where the base fee is £50m and if Everton don't make any kind of counter then they'll most likely leave it there.

We can't have it both ways, either we massively overpay by offering silly amounts which are raised by the seller negotiating, including the utd tax, or we unsettle the player with semi serious bids and then negotiate. It does appear that our Jared is having his head turned. Balls in his court now before a serious 3rd bid.

Think I'm getting ugarte confused with someone else because I thought he was a defender.
