Transfer Tweets - Manchester United - 2024/25

Yeah….. this is all bollocks

Surely not. Amorim said about Mazraoui that he was the future of the team. Ugarte is clearly the key to the engine room and used to Amorim's system. Yoro after how much the hierarchy applauded themselves for getting him is clearly unsellable.

If he were to phrase it thus: Anyone at United can be sold, but in case of the better players it will take an obscene amount. I.e. nothing to see here folks.

Have a vague recollection of Henrik Larsson on loan, Mata, Saha, Vidic and Evra as well...oh yes and Amad. If anything our transfers in january (the big transfers - not the youngster-transfers) have generally been a much bigger success than our summer transfers.

The only real misses we made in january were Zaha and a certain Alexis Sanchez.
That's a pretty impressive list. Zaha would have worked out if he'd been played, so really only Sanchez was a total bust. Maybe we should do all our business in January!

Also, for £500 million, Mainoo is yours, interested clubs. Less than that? Get to feck.

Why would we propose option to buy?Isn't obligation to buy better?
At this time, only the Saudi clubs are interested in acquiring Rashford permanently. Since Rashford's not interested in them, he can only join another European club on loan. An option or an obligation makes it easier for AC Milan to commit to the initial loan whilst giving United a chance to make some money on the player should he impress at Milan.

Option to buy, what if he doesn't impress like Martial at sevilla, we will still have him here at the end of the season

Media generating a huge amount of traffic with the Mainoo stuff, it’s a nine story, unless someone’s going to offer well in excess of 100 million he’s not going anywhere. Who has that kind of money except Saudi? Which Mainoo wouldn’t consider.

Don’t think we sell Mainoo. It’s just agent tactics to get a good deal and we’ll come to an agreement with the contract. But I can see Garnacho being sold. His antics and attitude have shown he might not be right fit into Amorim system. There were hints of it during ETH reign too.

Højlund gets sold if we get gyokeres

Urgh grim news.

Not because it's true and will happen, just that we're so mismanaged that we even have to worry about PSR considering our historic revenue generation. Spunked SO much cash on utter bollocks over the years.

Ironically, I can see us not selling anyone until the summer.

Yeah if we didn't have issues with PSR then we wouldn't have the likes of Wheeler and Jackson writing stories to stir up the fanbase

I quite like this approach. Not saying we should sell Mainoo / Garnacho. But the message needs to be made clear to the dressing room that no one is untouchable. With Sir Alex, people knew that.

But the way the standards have fallen at this club. It’s a mentality problem. You see flashes of purple form from players who are about to get to the end of their contracts. And then massive decline in performance / nonchalant performances thereafter.

It’s high time we reset expectations to perform or you’re out. Everyone needs to be held to a much higher standard - homegrown or generational talent or a 60/70 Mn signing or what they’ve achieved in the past should not matter.

Sir Alex was absolutely ruthless at this. Among his many other qualities of course

Very obvious a source from the club has just mentioned that no one is truly untouchable should the need to sell become vital to the clubs sustainability. And it’s just being used to clickbait fans.
Ornstein doesn't clickbait. Maybe just take what's being said at face value

All this screams click bait bollocks, we will not be selling core players that we wouldn't be able to afford to replace.

Say we sold Mainoo, Nacho & Hojlund for 200m, we'd realistically only have 150m to replace them, it's, not, happening...
Unfortunately Man Utd are the ultimate click bait subject.

I have to admit it is a bit worrying that the club is pushing such a story to the most credible journo, maybe a negotiation tactic with Mainoo's agent but leaves an impression that the finances and PSR are currently prioritised over sporting success.

It's clearly not about Mainoo.

Why does Rashfords brother have a different surname?

Why do you care?

Bit of a weird reaction to a genuine question. I was curious too.

It's a bit like the Giggs situation apparently. He's took his mother's name after their dad left. I think Dwayne is the eldest so probably took it harder than the others. They've since made up but he's kept his mother's name.

I think it is important for the cultural reset of the club to let everyone know, regardless of who they are, they have to fight for their place in the team/club in the future. You either play and help the team to win games consistently, or you are of no use to the club.

Indicating to a 19yo with a promising first 10 months or so in the first team that he is untouchable at a club like Manchester United would risk taking away the incentives for him to keep pushing to improve.

I hope we don't get Muani. I've never seen anything from him that would be an improvement on Zirkzee or Rasmus.

Why would we propose option to buy?Isn't obligation to buy better?

For us, yes. For them, no. I think the club know that very few clubs will be willing to take a massively underperforming player with a very chequered history of form and application and agree to buy him unless its for a very very low fee.

Exactly. Until recently you could get a silly contract from us with a 6 month purple patch. It just showed the power dynamic. The player is more important than the club and the club is lucky to have the player. That should never be the case especially at a place like United. We pay far far over market rate for salaries which makes no sense because its not like we see any return on those. I understand that part of that is to try and attract top players who might otherwise go elsewhere but thats a recipe for disaster as we have seen for a long time.

If players don't want to play for United then sell them. If they want a higher salary than they are worth, sell them. If they have a bad attitude, sell them. Very few players earn more or have a better career than they could have at United once they leave.
