Very curious what happens here. I'd like us to be firm on not overly subsidising wages if it was possible. Call Rashfords bluff about being desperate to play, as he'd take a pay cut if it were true and clubs may queue to sign him outright.
Or, subsidise with an obligation purchase (again this will mean he needs to accept a pay cut in the transfer).
If Rashford is cold to these options he's basically talking bollocks, in which case it's Saudi or nothing. I certainly wouldn't play him if he's not in managers plans irrespective of the wages.
My guess is he probably knows there's no way back under Amorim and will accept some compromise when leaving.

If it's a loan we're going to be subsiding wages. There's no way around that. Otherwise he can just stay here and pick up his paycheck. Nobodies going to take a pay cut during a loan period.

Yep, we’ve shot ourselves in the foot by offering him astronomical undeserved money.
Seems we’re learning the lesson though.
Loan him out, pay half his wages and hope he has a terrific second part of the season so we can get some real money for him in the summer. If not let’s hope he wants to go to Saudi in the summer, but I really doubt that.
