Transfer Tweets - Manchester United - 2024/25

I think it is important for the cultural reset of the club to let everyone know, regardless of who they are, they have to fight for their place in the team/club in the future. You either play and help the team to win games consistently, or you are of no use to the club.

Indicating to a 19yo with a promising first 10 months or so in the first team that he is untouchable at a club like Manchester United would risk taking away the incentives for him to keep pushing to improve.

Trouble is you could end up selling your best players & keeping the worse ones & oldest ones & replacing the best ones with inferior replacements thus making your team even worse than they now for next season & be in danger of relegation.

Why does Rashfords brother have a different surname?

I was also wondering that & I see that your question has been answered so now we know.

Not a single player on this team apart from some of the new guys has earned the right to be unsellable. As much as I want us to keep Mainoo, if it comes down to it, for the greater good I wouldn't be against it. Not saying we should be it wouldn't affect me. We need to back Amorim in every way possible and give him a squad to fit his way. To do that we need money. I rather buy regular week in week out 7/10 players who execute the system than 9&10/10 players who show up every now and then. We need players that will fight the way we did at Anfield but also add their individual quality to the collective rather than take from it.

He is a very exciting player and would love if he stays with us but the thing that urks me about the mainoo situation is, it is his 2nd season with the first team and is flirting with a move away (even if it's just a way of his agent to get a better deal)

If we get 100 (+) we should consider it because:
(a) he seems to be open to it
(b) you never know if he develops the way we think

I don`t think Kobbie is thinking about anything but United. Quite sure about that.
What we are seeing here is the agent trying to get the best possible deal for his client, in other words, just doing his job.

Is he? Really?

OK was purely phrased. What i meant is that the stories coming out (probably of his agency)

I agree that he is fully focused on united and i don't have any doubts about his "loyalty" to the club but if I were him I would tell his agents to stop with this kind of games. Doesn't look good and raises question marks IMO.

So did these journalists figure out (not too hard to do, mind you) that we need some exits before bringing in anyone new, and have decided that every single United player is either open to a move or not excluded from being sold by the club in the hope that at least one story hits the mark ?

I expect so, yes.

If we could get fifteen-to-twenty million for him, that would surely be worth looking at. Maybe that’s far too ambitious, though.

We’d be lucky to get 5 I’d say and that’s still a lot of profit. He has barely played. Elanga was scoring goals in Europe and started for half a season and was promising and hard working. If the player was worth 15-20 million he’d be getting some games here

I don't know, to me it feels like the club is briefing that everyone is for sale (much like in the summer window).

Mentioned it before but I feel like it's a combination of challenging our players to step up or leave, inviting reasonable bids for players that will help us financially and an attempt to essentially reboot our squad in line with the new management and structure.

We have probably decided that there's not a single player indispensible to the club like you get at the top teams, and I would kind of agree but there are certain players that should be off limits (Mainoo being the biggest one).

Toby has not really showed anything at first team level yet and is already 21. I sure do hope i am wrong here but i fear we have to settle for way less than that.

I'd take a wild guess his parents are separated and one chose the mothers surname, and one the fathers, for whatever family reasons

not much else it could be really!

For all the talk about Mainoo and Garnacho being available for the right price I just don't see it. We are already flirting with not having enough homegrown players and the long tradition of academy graduates in the squad.

If we look at who we have the list is already going to cut in the summer and would leave us with only 5-6 homegrown players. I don't see anyone in the U21's likely to break through next season though maybe one of the U18's jumps straight to the first team.

Harrison (club)
Heaton (club) - probably gone
Evans (club) - probably gone
Maguire (nation)
Shaw (club)
Mount (nation)
Mainoo (club)
Collyer (club) - probably gone
Gore (club)
Rashford (club) - probably gone
Garnacho (club)
Wheatley (club)

Realistically, we will need to try and sign 1-2 homegrown players to flesh out the squad. It's why links to Branthwaite made sense. I wouldn't be all that surprised if we made a move for a couple of less exciting names to fulfill quotas (Walker-Peters, Omari Hutchinson, Liam Delap etc if their clubs are relegated). Perhaps, it will be as simple as signing another english backup keeper but its something we do need to be careful about.

Think it's only a loan to the Championship that we're talking about here. He signed a new contract last summer.

Always loved that Ronaldo lad. That'll be £50m please and thank you.
Once a United fan, always a United fan.

£50m would be nice but being as every man and their dog is shouting about our financial worries, I think we’d take £25m-£30m (which roughly covers his remaining book value I think) and the huge drop in the wage bill.

Beggars can’t be choosers as my Nain used to say.

We're incredibly fortunate they're friends if that ends up being the deciding factor pushing the transfer through. Could realistically save us £50M between not having to pay his wages for 18 months and a £20M - £30M fee.
