The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

Genuine question, can we be sure that these people actually know what's written in the constitution?
I have no idea if my impression is right or wrong, but I perceive many of them clueless about it. As cluesless as I see in Germany AfD voters to be aware of what's in the bible, hell they can't even get the 10 commands together, let alone live their lives following them, and yet they pretend to defend Christianity against muslims.
In fairness to them, this one is hidden and you have to dig really deep to find the language. You see you skip right to the precious second amendment and ignore the pesky first amendment...

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

They also like to use "states' rights" only when it fits their narrative.

They support "states' rights" when it comes to opting out of govt programs that don't fit the GOP agenda but are currently losing their shit over Colorado's marijuana law and their resistance to Trump's deportation agenda.

His performance was weird even by his standards. It's like he knows how much pressure he is under and his response to that was bravado that just didn't land well with pretty much anyone around the world bar some corners of the US. The world of business, when you're the biggest and you can bully others is probable one of the few places it works, with world leaders, they just raise an eyebrow and think you're the most ridiculous they've ever seen. He just doesn't have the first clue about, well, anything at all really. Incredibly dim bloke.

Almost like he was overcompensating to his base for what he did in Saudi Arabia. Or if I can be cynical, he probably thinks he can afford to suck up to Saudi's and point to the money he generated, while knocking Europe because of his perceived understanding that NATO doesn't spend as much as it should.

Basically, US is a mercenary right now sucking up to the highest paying entity.

I think this tweet - a response to @EliStokol's tweet posted above - nails it:

That's a very good observation, actually. Long before his Presidential run he was always commenting on politics on Twitter etc and he's always been engaged, if nothing else. There's perhaps been a desire in there to be an intelligent politico type, someone who's got a keen eye for observation and analysis, like you'd imagine most major world leader have to some extent. But when it comes down to proper political discussion, Trump ultimately understands he's not really up to scratch...and it probably irks him.

My Facebook feed is full of idiots commenting on political stuff with inane and idiotic responses. They remind me a lot of Trump.

Yeah it's often a big thing in general. And not just on Trump's side, either; you get a lot of people out there who really like the idea of being politicos but don't actually know all that much.

Then-FBI Director James Comey knew that a critical piece of information relating to the investigation into Hillary Clinton's email was fake -- created by Russian intelligence -- but he feared that if it became public it would undermine the probe and the Justice Department itself, according to multiple officials with knowledge of the process.

I can't figure out if he is cunning, corrupt or plain old incompetent.

Looks like he and the previous administration have their hands full with illegalities.

Read the entire article...he was stuck in a bind. I'm not defending him...but, it wasn't a straightforward decision.

Sources close to Comey tell CNN he felt that it didn't matter if the information was accurate, because his big fear was that if the Russians released the information publicly, there would be no way for law enforcement and intelligence officials to discredit it without burning intelligence sources and methods.

What's that saying...caught between a rock and a hard place.

I can understand why Comey wouldn't come out at the time and claim that a document that was being circulated was fake.

If he came out and said it was fake at the time, then it could make Russians aware of FBI sources.

I don't completely comprehend that statement you quoted. I'm not sure why the FBI can't just say "We are aware of this source and its been falsely planted by foreign intelligence to influence the election cycle". If he already knew about Russian interference, that's an even bigger deterrent to American democracy than Clinton's e-mails and he should have been public about it rather than wait 5 months after the election to come out and say he is investigating Trump's team.

What good is your source if you can't stop the presidential election from being hijacked?

I can't figure out if he is cunning, corrupt or plain old incompetent.

Probably a mix of all three. I don't think you can reach a position like heading the FBI without an element of cunning, or being somewhat involved in corruption, but at the same time I do think there was an element of incompetence in the handling of the scandal last autumn.

Pfft... what can a veteran of tank battles and highly regarded strategic thinker offer that a junior real estate developer from NY not?

I am sure Kushner will be asking for advice from Netanyahu as he is under criminal investigation himself ;)

GAME, SET and MATCH!

This folks is the whole point of his Presidency and if there is seriously any fecking idiot left on the planet that was in anyway in denial at Trump's goals and allegiances then this really should remove all doubt.

All my life, I'd been hearing America had the strongest political system and democracy.
Turns out it had one major flaw...half the population.

Looks like they're sticking with the sanctions.
