He's past caring about his own "reputation" and innocence though, he's happy enough to imply now that he had conversations which are by no mean ethical with the Director the the FBI in order to taint his reputation. In simple terms, he is using conversations someone has with himself, that were instigated by himself, as evidence that someone is crooked.
I can imagine him angrily twitting in the Oval office and staff avoiding to interrupt him. I bet he has twitted more than actually worked. The priorities of the Potus. Twit, watching cable, golf and finally being president. We now have entire news programes debating his twits rather than policies. At least he's entertained. We can avoid nuclear holocaust.

At this point in time I have lost all belief that republican congressman and senators have any sort of self respect or dignity.

Anything run SOLELY for profit would always lose touch with the people it's trying to benefit. The problem in America is that the entire country is so partisan that people in rural Republican districts that actually NEED healthcare would vote against their own interests simply because their grand-daddy said they should always vote Republican.

A lot of people are in for a big disappointment when nothing happens to Trump over these investigations. Maybe someone like Flynn will end up behind bars, but that's still a long shot. There are way too many radicalized Trump supporters in government and public to bring any kind of evidence to light.

I'll go out on a limb and suggest that nobody would be surprised if this happened. If anyone was unclear about how real politics work in the US (after watching shows like HoC etc in disbelief) they aren't any more.

We can't see for the smoke. Trump Inc is a private organization so it's hard to get what the public needs. Listen to the people that have been around him to know what's going on. In my opinion this will stretch for another year with investigations and leaks. People see that he is distracted and spiraling further and further. He is also going on tv and shooting himself in the foot multiple times, at this rate he will probably implicate himself by trying to look competent.
Ideally we wait until the midterms. With a new majority in the house we can also remove Pence since he is up to his eyes in this shit too. That would make the speaker president until 2020.
Just as an example, there are many on here hoping that he gets nailed. There are a lot of people hoping the same who I have had contacts with.
