The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

I'd go with impulsive maniac who's following the advice of people who are calculating manipulators. Meanwhile feeling like he's calling all the shots.
But that's pretty much the same thing. In that case, what's the end game here, the outrage that followed must have therefore been anticipated and even maybe wanted.

Even Max Cady didn't bloody tweet as he was drowning.

It makes sense for Trump to do this though. He's trying to consolidate power in as many executive branches as he can, and it also helps to fire those people charged with investigating you.

I don't think he'd do this if he thought anything substantial would come of the Russia hearings, as that would be an impeachment and a prison term. I might be severely underestimating just how much of a shameless crook he his though.

Either he's in a far less shaky position then is thought, or is on the verge of collapse. Unfortunately, I'd have to assume the former.

I'd bet on the last sentence unfortunately.

I have to believe that Nixon was a much, much smarter (although diabolical and paranoid) man than Trump, and even he couldn't cover up that he'd F'd up by doing something like this.

As an aside... would you feckers believe that my class is actually slated to study the Nixon presidency tomorrow? We legit ended class today talking about LBJ declining to run for his party's nomination.

Nixon is one of the most interesting men of the 20th century imo. Sure he was a crook, and morally bankrupt, but also a political genius.

At least you've got some good then and now material
Dude it's unreal. I'm expecting some interesting responses, as I live in redneck Mecca.

Exactly! Even a political genius couldn't get out of firing the guy investigating him.

Where are you from?

I went to university in Miami and lived in Florida for a few years and still have a quite a few friends and family there. I live in Canada now.
My friends from Florida are not shy about expressing how they feel about anything

I've talked to Trump supporters online and I always get confused. The only way someone can think like them is if they were raised that way and the media reinforces their beliefs everytime they need it. I can't believe people who live and work without a helper can be that stupid so I can only assume US Republicans live in a cult-like environment.

One of the problems is they only listen to (and believe) right wing news. Fox news, info wars etc.
They have been indoctrinated to not believe anything any other media says and it's a huge echo chamber in which they are relaying to each other right wing conspiracy theories and it bounces back and forth till it is reality to them.
Look at the Romney Obama debate for example...Romney was convinced that Obama had taken over 14 days to call Benghazi an act of terror when in fact Obama described it as an act of terror the day after.
Romney embarrassed himself because he only listened to right wing (most likely fox in this case) media and they deal in 'alternative facts' that are never challenged. So if someone high up like Romney is getting basic shit wrong imagine what the red state layman must think?

Do I get this right?

Sessions who recused himself from the investigations of Russian interference comes to the conclusion that the FBI director leading these investigations isn't competent enough to continue them, recommends his busting and the Russian puppet agrees?

This is a tale from a banana republic.

Please, US fellows, resist this attack on your democracy!

Cool. Please share with us the best whataboutisms, pivots and excuses!

I imagine your class shouting drain the swamp while you try to get them under control.

I'm listening to Brian Williams right now. He is, once more, asking about the fact that the White House was surprised by the reaction to the firing of Comey. Why would the media give that much attention? Wasting air time on that nonsense.

So Trump sacked Comey because he was being so mean to Hillary. The WH as become a laughing stock of the world

There are third world countries ran with more transparency than the WH these days. This is old school bananna Republic stuff

How can you even spin this?

I'm watching fox now and they are doing their usual job of spinning this, saying it was all comeys fault for making to much enemies on both sides and the democrats are hypocrites and cry babies because they will want a special prosecutor etc

I'd hate to be watching Fox now. Carlson and Hannity must be cringeworthy.

Fox is praising Trump for 'doing the right thing' by firing comey after his testimony this week. They are saying 'he clearly wasn't fit to lead the Fri anymore'. No scandal to see here!

I can't turn to fox anymore. It just makes me mad.

They actually spent the majority of time talking about Hillary's emails and noted at the end of the show that there was no actually evidence ever produced about any Trump - Russia connections and saying it was all a waste of time.
The contrast between the msnbc and Fox version of events is really something else.

A lot of us thought that Trump wouldn't dare sack Comey because of how bad it would look.

It's just crazy that this keeps getting more and more shocking.

This is it, isn't it?

A bunch of GOP senators and congressman have called for an independent inquiry now. Might just be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Was there an active investigation into the Trump-admin though? I've read some conflicting stuff and don't really know what to believe

He can't fire someone if he is investigating him? That seems insane
