"Federal prosecutors have issued grand jury subpoenas to associates of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn seeking business records, as part of the ongoing probe of Russian meddling in last year's election, according to people familiar with the matter. CNN learned of the subpoenas hours before President Donald Trump fired FBI director James Comey."

(A grand jury determines the validity of an accusation and then it either goes to a trial or is dismissed.)

Just realised Comey has been fired. That took Trump longer than I thought it would.
 
Maybe Trump just misses the Apprentice more than he's letting on.
 
The good news out of this is the firing and fall out will consume the GOP and stop them actually fecking up the country. Unless this is a 5d chess tactic to consume the Dems :eek:

Im sure some did. But trump has been so untouchable that I really believe he only listens to his yes men/women and probably felt he would walk away unscathed. I honestly think he is that narcissistic and used to being able to do this kind of thing with no backlash.
 
The 'Who knew firing Comey would be so controversial?' rubbish from the WH is surely disingenuous, a way of making out that the firing was objectively sound & the motive(s) disinterested.

That's a very strong possibility. Dictators eventually get used to power and want it more and more. They get to a point where they can't understand or tolerate any opposition. Trump is new in politics but his whole life was him getting things his way with relatively very little opposition. He is certainly displaying all the attributes. However, maybe this is just the first move in a chess game for him and his cronies which would be more worrying actually. It's just still difficult to decide if he is an impulsive maniac or worse, a calculating manipulator playing the long game, or at least following the advice of people who are.

I'd go with impulsive maniac who's following the advice of people who are calculating manipulators. Meanwhile feeling like he's calling all the shots.
