I just view his antics as an attempt to distract from investigations. He's trying his hardest.
He's blatantly still obsessed with the size of his inauguration crowd. I think he sits and compares his and Obama's every night and even his warped view of the world can't get over all the white floor covers exposing how poor the crowd size was.
Does he not read the many responses to his tweets calling him out on the fact that he is tweeting things verbatim from Fox News on a regular basis? Surely if he knew masses of people were cringing he would desist given how much he cares about his image?

I am inclined to agree with you for the most part, but I do think he has massive problems, insecurities, etc and that's also a part of it too.
That extract from The Guardian article about McMaster is very interesting, it's also pretty funny too. It's clear he's a man with actual knowledge and experience and he sees the danger in marginalising and ostracising and attacking an entire religion while pretending otherwise. He knows how volatile the situation is and how easy attacks can be carried out and how difficult they can be to stop. His insight with be invaluable and that article is a ray of light in a very dark room. I just hope he is listened to, although it sounds like he's already gone up against Trump, be interesting to see what happens from here.

McMaster has a PhD is this stuff, has worked in Iraq and Afghanistan and generally is known as a thought leader / intellectual about the subject matter within military and defense circles. Bannon is basically an ideologue who is pissed at the world because globalism and the financial crisis bankrupted his Dad.
