Oh you know, maybe for the way he race baited Obama for a few years, the way he racially abused Mexicans, the way he mocked the disabled, the frequent misogyny, the tax plan that benefits the 1%, the pledge to bring back torture, the new records set for lying in a campaign, his bragging about not paying taxes, the many businesses he's screwed over the years, stiffing contractors he was supposed to pay... That kinda stuff.

Nah, let's be mad at Clinton instead. Makes sense.

Hillary started the Birther movement. I remember the 2008 elections.
The rioters should be mad at the poor candidate.
In any case we had a fair election.

How is this helpful?

They are rioting because Hillary lost.
simple.

Debating with you is amazing, an experience to remember.
You asked a question. You got 3 answers. You pulled an opinion of your own, not bothering to read a single answer. Or to have the basic knowledge that that the people protesting range from liberals to socialists and Trotskyists.

Can you imagine a Hillary fan holding a sign with the words capitalist pig? To promote the Socialist Worker?

I did have a debate with you about how UNFAIR it was we have an Electrol College system.

Think about what you say first.

He is the President now.

What do we do now? Have a do over?
Sounds like the feelings after Brexit.
So we just ignore the racism, sexism etc etc etc because he won?

Hey, don't blame the racist guy, blame the person who couldn't beat him.

People like you are the problem with democracy.

Yes, and in that debate, I quoted Chief Justice Warren, James Madison, and pointed out the flaws of the system. You said it works fine, repeatedly, while refusing to answer why urban people should have diminished rights. Or to the point that the house and senate provide representation for all areas. Or to the point that the senate was designed by Madison to ensure elite control. Or the point that Earl Warren thought "one man one vote" is the basic bedrock of democracy. Or that a minority of Americans voting for Bush had changed the world forever, in a very negative sense.
You didn't answer any of those points.

The point you were unable to Get was that there was no huge outcry to do away with the Electrol College. If there was both parties would have done so.

It works for America.

Let's go through this. How will they get rid of it?

Why were you moaning at the result of an election?

So Hillary and the DNC...the D stands for Bumbasses btw prevented Bernie supporters from voting in certain areas. Bernie supporters wearing "I tried to vote" stickers
And the Dems accuse the Republicans of voter suppression.
Nice way to bring the party together.

Get over it already!

I think he ran because he's an ego-maniac who likes the idea of being pres tbh.
Yes, his ego wants the title of president badly but I doubt very much he wants the work involved or the responsibility. This is a man who does what he wants, when he wants, with who he wants and once the novelty of the title has worn off I doubt he's going to take kindly to round the clock secret service, constant meetings about things that don't interest him, loss of control over his life and serious issues landing on him by the bucket load.

He'll either become ill with the stress of it all or delegate virtually everything to others. Expect the Republican party to be the decision makers and Trump to be the one that goes along with whatever they say.

It actually has to do with the reality that the election is over and Trump won. The question then becomes how do we move forward. The answer is probably not clutching at the past as if doing so will change anything.
demonstrations are a vital part of democracy. At least as important as voting. The same goes for criticizing and questioning politicians in power. Citizens are not cheerleader for the president and congress.

you should try it.
Here you go, I'm feeling charitable so I'll try and help you connect the dots:

You: Hillary started the birther movement

Me: no she didn't

You: yes she did (plus failed attempt at condescension)

Me: it started before he even ran for president

You: so she never mentioned it?

Here's a hint for you, mentioning something 4 years after it became a thing doesn't qualify as starting the movement.

To put this in context you might be able to wrap your head around, you joined the caf in 2003, you didn't start in in 1999. That was Niall.

And you are.... ?
Sorry, I don't want to step on your toes, I've appreciated your many posts and thoughts about this election a lot, and feel enriched by them (As I'm sure have many others), but the pace with which you've changed your views on the president elect is frankly scary.

He might become some New York liberal-conservative-republican-populist... but what are the chances? And if he does, what does a liberal-conservative-republican-populist actually do!?

Of all the ridiculous things to come out of this heinously ridiculous election, the idea that the 'side' (for want of a better word) who've spent the last 8 years whining, complaining, shouting, hollering, protesting, fillibustering, gerrymandering, spreading conspiracy theories, stoking racism, blocking the process of government, and generally acting like spoiled hysterical children about everything because a (semi) liberal was in the White House, and Political correctness made their boorish dickishness slightly less fashionable (oppression!!!)....can now actually turn around, with a straight face, and tell the people who feel aggrieved by this change, that they need to shut up, buckle down and stop complaining, because THEY'RE being intolerant, is one of the most astonishingly ridiculous of all.

fecking hell. I mean seriously...F.ucking. Hell.

And that also applies to Brexit and the whole right wing global ascendancy, which has only been achieved trough the constant, hysterical, hyperbolic whinging of the very same people who now feel they can implore the other side to "take the high road" now they're finally in a position to do so.

I'm aware that for many of you, being dismissed as idiots or fascists by the righteous, hoity toity left, was a long standing, bitter bone of contention. But I'd have a lot more sympathy if you didn't make it so fecking easy.

Yea but you can't blame them apparently. For some reason.

Hey RD. Uncertain times, huh? I can tell you one crowd that's been feeling confident since Wednesday: bankers. The talk of Dodd-Frank getting rolled back, Jamie Dimon a candidate for SecTreas... I was joking about sending my resume to JP Morgan just today.

People struggle with the idea that an election is only a moment in the political time. They don't seem to grasp the idea that the political time is infinite, all the people against Trump should make their voices and opinions heard while all the people who are for Trump should pay attention to what he does and make sure that he delivers his promises.

Not as deluded as you, clearly.

Big spoon or little spoon?
Big spoon for all. And here's a bowl of sticky toffee pudding and custard for each of you. Don't you all feel better now eh? Don't post again until you've eaten every last bit of it. :)
