The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

@RedSky
My home is a city that is in red on that map. I don't like this idea. I just think it makes sense, for some people.

But my point is that surely Humanity (if we ever wish to actually succeed as a Race) should be looking past Nationalities and consider the entire population of the World. This is what pisses me off to no end, it's ok to condemn millions of people to die because of the justification that it won't effect them (much).

fecking America. I honestly didn't think something would get me more pissed off than Brexit, but they've outdone themselves.

You´re very wrong when you say it will only damage tropical countries. If the temperature rise continues then its just a matter of question when Europe and North America gets hit bad as well if it ain´t stopped in time. ALL humans are accountable for the planet we live on regardless of nationality as nature don´t care about abstract ideas such as countries and can cause damage to all of us. This means we do have a collective responsibility to take care of the planet we share together.

It is not just a collective responsiblity - the industrial most developed countries are the ones that have a big share in causing the effect even if they are (like usually) not the ones that will be harmed most.

I agree with that in general, national boundaries make solving human problems harder. But that is the way the world is set up.
And that may not even be Trump's justification. I was just wondering about it after reading some of his America First quotes, and looking at his actions, it sort of made logical sense to me.

Yup, I forgot Florida. Good point.

I'm not passing moral judgement. I'm saying from a "America first" P.o.V., it sortof makes sense. Florida is a good point though, I concede.
I think they'd be willing to write Florida off to get richer and maintain the support base, to be honest. He'll be dead before the destruction really starts.

Reading your post with the map reminded me that our lifetimes are going to be quite depressing!

It all makes sennnnnnnnse now....

Today, we know Kellyanne Conway as the grinning, lifeless hack sent onto TV shows to drastically reconfigure the truth in the wake of her boss’s negligence. (Her official title for this is “counselor to the president”—fancy!) However, back in the late ’90s, she was known as Kellyanne Fitzpatrick, and at some point in that era she did an 11-minute stand-up comedy set that climaxed in a sexy jazz number. Does that sound awful? It is more awful than you can imagine.

The developed countries should do something extra i agree upon this. We should share clean energy technologies with those nations and help fund the building as much we can. But they most be willing to do their part as well as no one gets a free ride regardless of what have been done in the past. Pointing the finger at the developed countries and and ask them to do it all the work would be counter productive as it just cause a political backlash from developed countries and make cooperation much harder.

Trump World Tower on 1st Ave is really close to the East River... although I have no idea if he owns it or is a license deal. Looks like the kind of building he'd own though (gold lobby).

On reflection, Trump's decision to restart the KXL and DAPL make sense, not just from a short-term perspective.

climate_change_inequality_map.png

With an America First policy, it is right to look at the overall picture: the impact of AGW on the US is minimal, mostly people in the tropics will die, while the cost in switching over is high, not just for his donors and oil companies, but for the US economy in general. The alternative would be to make the US a global centre for alternative energy, but China's cheap solar panels already have a strong head-start.
Due to its geographical isolation, combined with the nationalist politics currently in fashion, the US will also have no problem in keeping out physically and politically the refugees created by a few more decades of global warming.

Edit: In a time dominated by gender politics and debates on healthcare/the economy, climate change simply isn't a popular enough vote issue to harm the GOP (this will only harden non-GOP voters). Further, native land rights too are not important to popularity within the GOP base.

I don't understand this map. Why is India in Red?

I don't think it's as simple as US deciding unilaterally that they wont be affected by Climate change so would pursue a policy of doing whatever they want. One of the main reasons why climate change accords have been tough for the years was countries like US and UK to lecture growing countries on the dangers of carbon emissions when for years they've ridden the industrialization horse and made their economy strong. China and others always retorted that it's their time to first fortify their economy. Since it is very tough to quantify the adverse effect on environment due to these executive orders, the worst that will happen is China will take the lead on climate change and will drive the change and the new world.

He cannot make new law, but can increase or decrease the enforcement of existing law.

They can be challenged and struck down in federal court.

I guess the main question in court would usually be if it amounts to a new law?
KXL and DAPL are totally fine legally, and I don't see much problem with the worldwide abortion thing since right to privacy doesn't apply.

It's not rational in the slightest, all it's doing is helping this generation with no thought to future generations. Which obviously fits with Trump, given it's all about him.

Hey man, I am with you 100% this stinks to high heaven and it's absolutely disgusting but the parallels are so frighteningly similar to another huge problem facing the world. The fishing industry is at breaking point worldwide, it is for varying reasons, but mainly pollution of the oceans and rivers, unsustainability due to expanding human population resulting in more consumption of fish, and over-fishing because of the extra demand and also because of technology and new ways to catch fish.

Now everyone in this industry knows these problems, exactly the same as everyone (except the most ignorant) accepts the climate change problems, however people don't want to fix them because as mentioned before, it wont affect them personally, it's the same with fishing "i'm alright jack, feck everyone else" as fishing is an industry where wages are based purely on product caught, the incentive is always to catch more, never, ever to preserve stocks for future generations because 99% of people involved i.e. boat owners or skippers or exporters etc, well they are all so short sighted they don't look to the future, they just want to catch more and more week after week to earn more money. This attitude to climate change is exactly the same and just as depressing. The Moron doesn't care because he won't be alive when this all starts to fall down due to climate change, and he's not alone in that thinking or feeling, it's just I doubt you will find many honest enough to say it, but that's the truth, they just don't give a shit because they wont be around to see it.

Climate change can still be slowed, the same as fish stocks can be preserved and could definitely be more sustainable, what's more upsetting is a lot of people know HOW to change it all but few listen. People won't do shit by themselves so it's time that laws have to be enforced to make these feckers understand and sort it out. The trouble is, at the moment the person making the laws is now one of the biggest climate change deniers there is, so like the fish stocks worldwide, I don't hold much hope for any positive changes at the moment. It's all quite depressing when you look at it like that tbh :(

I don't understand this map. Why is India in Red?

India is red because of many factors including coastlines and how susceptible it would be to rising sea levels and alternative and destructive weather patterns, it's also susceptible to major droughts. It's also red because of how it would be affected by poverty, illness especially diseases like malaria and other water/mosquito borne diseases, farming would be severely affected, also because of transport and tourism declining which affects GDP which of course then knocks on to affect everything else. The climate change study takes so many different factors in to account not just the obvious rising sea levels and temperature changes.

I guess the main question in court would usually be if it amounts to a new law?
KXL and DAPL are totally fine legally, and I don't see much problem with the worldwide abortion thing since right to privacy doesn't apply.
Yeah, if the Court believes it is unsupported by existing statute or law it'll be struck down.

Yet more people marching and protesting against President Trump, this time over the pipelines. Surely this has to be a record after just 5 days in?

Also media reports that The Moron has placed restrictive gag orders on all government scientists and EPA workers preventing anyone from talking about anything and he's also banned them from using social media (oh the fecking irony) to give any updates to the public. While this was all going on various groups took over 870,000 signatures on a petition to the Senate asking them to REJECT Scott Pruitt as the head of the EPA, unsurprisingly seeing as he is a massive Climate Change denier. Personally though, seeing how weak they have been over all his other appointments (especially DeVos and Tillerson) I don't hold out any hope for him to be rejected, and even if he is the next appointment wouldn't be any better. These are very scary and sad times, but it's ok because the Trump supporters said he would be ok, didn't they?

Four more journalists get felony charges after covering inauguration unrest
A documentary producer, a photojournalist, a live-streamer and a freelance reporter facing up to 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine if convicted
Guardian said:
“These illegal acts are clearly designed to chill the speech of protesters engaging in First Amendment activity,” Maggie Ellinger-Locke, of the guild’s DC branch, said in a statement.

None of the arrest reports for the six journalists makes any specific allegations about what any of them are supposed to have done wrong.

Read as per the fresh prince of bel air theme tune...

Now this is a story all about how
The world got flipped-turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute
Just sit right there
I'll tell you all about the prick with the ridiculous hair

I was to a billionaire, born and raised
In the bankruptcy courts I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin', a fool
And all groping some pussy outside of the school
With a couple of guys who were wearing the hood
I started blaming latins in your neighborhood
I dissed this disabled guy, but nobody cared
They said, “He’s movin on the White House, but we’re still not scared.”

I whistled for a limo and when it came near
The license plate said "Trump" and it had gold in the mirror
If anything I could say this ride was fine
But I thought, "I’ve got billions"
– "I’m elite, it’s all mine."

I pulled up to the White House at 7 or 8
And I yelled at the driver, "Go home, migrant labor."
I looked at my kingdom
With the world in despair
To sit on my throne as the Prick with the hair
If that's your work then bravo!

His defence force must curse every time he opens his mouth. What a Muppet...

That's the only Tweet that he hasn't retweeted on the POTUS account. YET!

Seriously, how can this be allowed? I still am struggling to believe that he hasn't broken any or enough laws to be imprisoned or sectioned. It's beyond a fecking joke now, well it has been for months, but this crazy cnut now has the nuclear codes. For fecks sake! It's not a hypothetical anymore, he actually has them and has someone following him around with the launch mechanism in a case.............. I saw someone on Twitter earlier say that people were overacting and he won't use them, but they said the same about everything else he has gone and done so far. All the reports in the last few days have come from leaks from his own people worried about his state of mind and his temper, be it the stupid overreaction to the crowd numbers to the 5 million illegal voters, what next? He's unstable, irrational, volatile, bad tempered, thick as pig-shit and extremely vengeful and personally I don't think the prick should be allowed to run a fecking hot dog stand let alone the USA.

I think the best news this week has been the amount of leaks from his own people inside 5 days. The fact they are worried and already rebelling and leaking stories is a good sign. Hopefully they will take him down from the inside.

And there's more...............

 Unstable cnut, sounds like something a schoolkid says to a bully, I will get the Feds on you

He's obviously been listening to Pink Floyd again.

It's important to remember that all we've seen since November from Trump - all the petty mudslinging and the minor disputes with celebrities and the anger at the crowd on Friday is all at the start. What happens if he faces a genuine threat, or an attack on US soil? What happens if Putin does have extremely compromising info and releases it? What happens if he's impeached?

We've seen so far that Trump is a petulant man and when he doesn't get his way acts like a five-year old throwing a tantrum. And he's doing all that while he's fecking winning!

This is supposed to be the good part for him. The honeymoon period he enjoys where he can bask in victory, and having proving everyone who doubted him wrong. What happens if protests continue, his support fades to the point where he will definitively not be elected, and his administration comes to be regarded not as fearful but as a joke? He's supposed to be in the easy part right now.

How the fcuk did this guy get anywhere near the presidency?

I agree 100% mate, that was my point about the insiders already against him. His latest 3 Tweets have been off the wall unhinged even for him.

1. As President he should in no way whatsoever be Tweeting about News Channels and bias, his continued attack on CNN and the Media is out of order, and he continues to praise Fox, it's scary and he's looking more like Dim Don-UN Every day. What's the betting like North Korea every US household will very soon have to have a portrait of him in their house?

2. He can't sort out social problems like they have in Chicago with the Feds. I'm not even sure the FBI are even the right people to sort things like that out anyway? It yet again shows his complete lack of any idea or clue about the power he holds or the jobs the agencies actually do. It's also been proven Law Enforcement alone cannot solve social problems. What next? Put the National Guard in and put Chicago under Martial Law? FFS!

3. The fecking wall again, seriously? Have his advisors not told him this is a no go? Unenforceable, unbuildable, Illogical, Unmanageable, Unethical, Absolutely batshit crazy and would cost so much money..... It's pure insanity.

Oh and proof!

The people cheering and applauding WERE NOT the intelligence agency workers but The Moron's own paid staff. Dim Don-UN strikes again.

I wonder if he makes intentional typos in his tweets to make it appear like his hands are big.
