The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

Shhhhh don't post things like that, their selective memories can't handle it and it doesn't fit their narrative. Those pics aren't real either, obviously photoshopped! :p

of course, only the libtards are the cry babies!

I really don't get the hype about numbers at the inauguration or the women's march. The obsession from the lefty MSM is tedious but expected as it is their style, but for Trump's own press secretary to spend so much fecking time on it. It wasn't something that needed to be countered. Firstly there's the location. Then there's the beefed up security and riots. Then there's the unprecedented bitterness and rage over the election result. Numbers are not something worth competing with Obama over because it wasn't something Trump or any other Republican could hope to win.

If you held the inauguration and women's march in Texas or Oklahoma you'd see radically different numbers. Any Republican is going to pull in fewer numbers in DC than any Democrat, even in a totally uncharged and less bitter election.

All in all, a dreadful choice of press secretary.

But this is the thing though...Trump does care. He's petty and bitter and responds to every accusation and criticism with a certain vindictiveness. He's hit back against an actress in the past couple of weeks because she criticised him. This is not something a head of state should do. He once sent a guy a picture of his hands to prove they weren't small, because the idea of people thinking they were incensed him.

Even after winning the election, he couldn't help but say the only reason he lost the popular vote was because of illegitimate voters. Even after winning, the fact he didn't win in the way he wanted to pissed him off and was clearly grating at him in the back of his mind.

You shouldn't be surprised at this aspect of Trump's character, because this sort of obsessing over irrelevant details which annoy him is the very core of his character.

The whole "bubble" thing applies to both sides. The only reason we're discussing it as a liberal failure is down to tactical geographics, nothing more...all available data suggested Trump supporters lived in a far greater echo chamber. It's good that liberals are being introspective about it - that's what makes them liberals - but if Hillary had won, does anyone believe the right would've had the same intellectual crisis of confidence? No fecking chance.

If anything Trump is the consequence of 8 years of the right wing doubling down on whinging, protesting and outright lying. We could learn a thing or two from them in all honesty. This is ideological war now, second guessing gets us nowhere.

Day one and The Moron has already got up on stage in front of the intelligence agencies with a paid crowd to support him, and he flat out lied to them and the US public. Then his Press secretary comes out and flat out lies again, at least three times, and what was so important that it caused the most powerful man on earth to lie? The fact his inauguration didn't have as many people as they said, and because the press reported it truthfully. As per usual he calls the press out for lying and hits them with lies of his own. To make matters worse more protestors turned up in DC today than for his inauguration, and we all know that has really got to hurt. Not to mention that worldwide the numbers must be YUGE! The numbers from all 50 states of the USA must also be massive, and again, you know that's really going to piss him off.

But of course, he's the perfect role model and it's all the press and those pesky Lefties and Liberals that are making all this up.

TBF the republicans did have their crisis in 2012, outreach to Hispanics etc. Then trump happened

I'm not surprised Trump himself would rant about it given the opportunity, I just had slightly higher hopes a bit more thought would go into their press briefings. Hope that one silver lining to Trump might have been the glorious trolling of the MSM and Hollywood.

Not getting riled and embarrassed by irrelevant guff on the first day in office should have been quite high on their priorities. Probably means that Trump has even less interest in the opinions of his advisors than feared.

To be fair that's pretty much exactly what most people in this thread said would happen on day one. I think most of the posters here expected exactly what has happened because as unpredictable as he can be in some ways, he is absolutely transparent in others. It was obvious that his crowds would be less because of how unpopular he is and also because of where his supporters come from, and it was a sure thing he would be pissed about the crowd size and would lie about it and it was also 100% certain that he would attack the press about their coverage of it all too.

I don't think anyone here is shocked by it or could say it was unexpected.

Yep. I fully expected this.

I absolutely love the fact he stood up in front of a selection of America's sharpest minds and tried to bullshit them.

There will have been people who train the people who train people to interview suspects there today. There will have been behavioural analysts, language analysts and criminal profilers.

People who have literally spent their life studying information and thinking critically and he stands up in front of them and tells a bunch of narcissistic lies like a 9 year old boasting at school who has yet to realise that the truth can and will easily be discovered.

I'd bet good money there is a fair few agents who will be doing some unpaid overtime digging deep to find the piece of dirt that nails him. Can you imagine how much it would have insulted their intelligence having Trump think they were going to buy it? They probably all feel a little dumber just listening to it.

Obama did a lot of things many disagreed with as President, however they had respect for the office of the president and what it stands for and did not disrespect the office as this march has done today the day after the inauguration.

They haven't only disrespected him (as said in previous posts) but also his family.

A simple look on various social media websites, you can see a pattern.

This just seems like its out of some alternate universe police state.

Bursted out laughing at 3:10 and onward, propaganda machine in full motion. Pretty surreal shite indeed, would be hilarious if it wasn't real. Well actually it still is, I mean what the feck

I was listening to NPR yesterday and a commentator compared the protests of today with the turbulent violent times of the Vietnam War in America. All accounts paint the protests of today as child's play compared to what went on in the late 60s to early 70s, but it is interesting drawing parallels from a historical perspective.

I agree, It stuns me that he thinks nobody notices. It must only be a section of his supporters who fall for the bullshit, because surely nobody else does? He really does think he cons everyone, but the truth is he just lies over and over again until people kind of give up arguing with him. He's done it all his life so he wont be changing anytime soon, you only have to look at how many times he barefaced lied during the campaign and the debates. Shit, he even flat out lied about saying things and CNN were running the video of him actually saying them and he still lied about it even when the evidence was being played back to him, you just can't argue with someone like that.

I don't think the intelligence agencies will be happy though, they wont take being treated in such a condescending manner like today, and they wont be brushed off just by him blowing some smoke up their collective arses either. They can't be happy about how he has treated them and called them out for the last few months, and they wont be happy about the national security risk he poses or his close ties to Russia. I think he knows he fecked up with them, or his advisors did and today was damage control. Too little too late though imho, and if anything, like you said, he probably made things much worse by how he acted today.

Spot on breakdown.

Yeah , but even if this was a case of him trying damage control and get them onside etc, he STILL couldn't resist having his hired goons in the wings applauding him

I was just thinking that. The incredulous nature of it reminded me of 'Baghdad Bob'.

Very strange times indeed. I really fear for USA... civil war is coming soon.

I think it was a transparent attempt at saying he'll 'look after' the CIA as long as they look after him. i.e. "Please don't get me impeached - I'll give you bigger budgets."

Great analysis.

How do you think they will extract their revenge?

@RealDonaldTrump just set the world record for the guy rejected by more women in a single day in the history of humanity.

I can't work out whether the fact he's tee-total is reassuring or extra terrifying. If he was drunk or coked up, you could kinda excuse, or at least explain his brattish behaviour, but he's not. This is actually him. Sober. Staying up till 3am tweeting about SNL! If ever there was an argument to be made that drink and drugs are less of an influence on behaviour than inherent personality, he'd be the walking, talking, tanning evidence. The missing link of anthropological twattery.

I know crack heads more verbose and less vindictive.

Kinell. Could you imagine a pissed or coked up The Don?

Copious quantities of weed might at least calm him down slightly. Although he is already paranoid so ........

Wow, something about that really is strange. Hard to believe it's actually happening.

What’s next after the Women’s March?

I wonder what Obama is making of this. It will take him months and maybe years to delink himself from the past 10 year journey. He knows every trick in the book and was a organiser and campaigner before he took office. I'd love it if he became the ring leader to a civil disobedience movement that sought to remove Trump.

Maybe im just in the pouring stage of denial .... but to unhinge Trump into impeachment, its going to require some brilliant and sustained protest.

Sadly, I think Trump went on a rant and basically instructed him to convey his sentiments to the press. Spicer in this case seems to be the unfortunate messenger (even though he is quite cantankerous himself).

Yeah, I agree.

But he still seems very - like you say - cantankerous (which I had to google btw ), like he believes what he is saying. Which I don't doubt, as Trump would be the sort of person who surrounds himself with 'Yes' men and blind followers.

Great analysis.

Ooh, that's the million dollar question isn't it? I really don't know, but if I had to have a guess I should think they will do pretty much anything they can to help get him either removed from office and/or sent to prison but obviously behind the scenes. I would absolutely love to have been a fly on the walls of both the CIA and FBI over the last few months and to be there over the upcoming few too.

The trouble is this is uncharted territory so nobody really knows. I suppose he should be extra careful though because the CIA especially like to remove problems, and if you believe the conspiracy theories, it wouldn't be the first time they helped remove a President they felt was a severe threat to national or world security. It's just so surreal to be honest, and the more you think about it, the more it's like a cross between a Tom Clancy novel and The West Wing and a satirical comedy like Team America or The Dictator.

Amen.

There are more of us than them. It's time to stop pussying about.

Exactly! That's the point here and that's what we all need to comprehend. If anything the last year taught us it's not to be complacent anymore, and I think it's high time we look back at the last couple of years or so and work out how we can avoid it happening again, learn from our mistakes, but at the same time keep our heads high and our spirits up and move forward.

Busted!

 FFS! He's being completely ridiculed one day in to the job.

And more worryingly............

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/21/...se-briefing-inauguration-crowd-size.html?_r=0

As predicted the CIA and members of other intelligence agencies were not impressed at all at his appearance at Langley HQ yesterday. Many were disgusted and insulted by his speech and his disrespect shown whilst standing in front of the Memorial wall certainly hasn't gone unnoticed. Not a good start to his Presidency at all.
