The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

This women's march is an absolute joke.

Ridiculous hysteria about Trump whipped up by the MSM and out of touch celebrities.

They fail to realise they are only turning people away from their bs cause.

Trump is president for at least four years hopefully eight, deal with it.

Hopefully four for me. Im glad he's going to war with the press on even the smallest of issues. He won't win that battle. He's a petulant child with an oversized ego that needs curbing. Disrespecting the CIA is a very, very smart thing to do as well

Exactly! That's the point here and that's what we all need to comprehend. If anything the last year taught us it's not to be complacent anymore, and I think it's high time we look back at the last couple of years or so and work out how we can avoid it happening again, learn from our mistakes, but at the same time keep our heads high and our spirits up and move forward.

Busted!

Send them to the gulags or march the feckers to the guillotine?

It's high time the workers take control and seize the means of production!

To be fair that's pretty much exactly what most people in this thread said would happen on day one. I think most of the posters here expected exactly what has happened because as unpredictable as he can be in some ways, he is absolutely transparent in others. It was obvious that his crowds would be less because of how unpopular he is and also because of where his supporters come from, and it was a sure thing he would be pissed about the crowd size and would lie about it and it was also 100% certain that he would attack the press about their coverage of it all too.

I don't think anyone here is shocked by it or could say it was unexpected.
Exactly. On the contrary, I believe many would have been in shock if somehow Trump had undergone some kind of metamorphosis into anything reminiscent of presidential behavior. In fact, I totally expect him to not far from today to copy Hitler's 'total war' phrases. In his Trumpish own way he will.

How any Trump fan can defend the hypocrisy, stupidity and indignity of this moron is beyond me. A fecking liar, narcissist, egoist, misogynist, xenophobe who does not care about anyone but himself.

Everything about Trump stinks! Can't even bear to see his wife next to him. Absolutely no chemistry between them and she seems so fake and plastic. If only there was some way for Michelle Obama to be the permanent FLOTUS. I'll give it a year before things start to unravel with this guy.

Why he keeps attacking everyone and everything that doesn't agree with him rather than keeping his mouth shut and letting his politics to do the talking is beyond me. He should be under no illusion that he is the most unpopular president in their history yet still he is hellbent on waging war with everyone. It will be interesting to watch the hair transformation as the rigours of presidential life take their toll over the next four years.

A question for Americans, or anyone I guess..

Is there any chance of a slight unification and acceptance of any sort during the Trump presidency or is America looking at 4 years of division?

He would have to change basically everything about himself. So the latter is most likely.

I'm trying to compare it to Brexit, I know people who voted to leave and I disagree with them but really our relationships just carry on as normal. Do you think the Trump situation is more serious and relationships will be divided?

I guess it depends on circumstances, but the left will almost certainly never get behind Trump.

Comments from Pope Francis, who's a very wise man:
Asked if he was worried about the rise of populism in Europe and the US, the Pope said: "Crises provoke fear, alarm. In my opinion, the most obvious example of European populism is Germany in 1933.

"Germany is broken, it needs to get up, to find its identity, a leader, someone capable of restoring its character, and there is a young man named Adolf Hitler who says: "I can, I can".

"And all Germans vote for Hitler. Hitler didn't steal the power, his people voted for him, and then he destroyed his people."

On Mr Trump, the Pope said he would "wait and see".

"I don't like to get ahead of myself nor judge people prematurely. We will see how he acts, what he does, and then I will have an opinion," he added.

The pair publicly disagreed during the presidential campaign, with Pope Francis appearing to question Mr Trump's Christian faith over his plans to build a border wall with Mexico.

Ok, I need help with that scousers+orange thing. Are scousers notorious fake-tanners?

His, and his press man's, comments on the number of people at the inauguration is so fecked up. How is it even possible to say these things contrary to all the facts, reports and photos? It reminds me of Saddam's mental press guy in front of and during the 2003 Iraq war. It's impossible to not label this ridiculous shit as North Korean'esque propaganda.

I'm not going to compare it to Goebbels and the nazis, because those guys actually seemed to be pretty good at this stuff. That old psycho is probably spinning in his grave if he's somehow watching this freak show unfold.

The whole thing worries the shit out me, we've got proper lunatics in charge of the most powerful nation in the world, this is never going to end well.

I'd say their level of lies was exactly as low. But in the 30s and 40s the public hardly had the means to get information outside of the institutional propaganda machinery. That's exactly where the mindblowing stupidity of Trump and his gang lies - there is evidence against all of their ridiculous claims just one or two clicks away.

I think it was a transparent attempt at saying he'll 'look after' the CIA as long as they look after him. i.e. "Please don't get me impeached - I'll give you bigger budgets."

This kind of sounded like a threat also:

"You know, the military and the law enforcement, generally speaking, but all of it -- but the military gave us tremendous percentages of votes. We were unbelievably successful in the election with getting the vote of the military. And probably almost everybody in this room voted for me, but I will not ask you to raise your hands if you did. (Laughter.) But I would guarantee a big portion, because we're all on the same wavelength, folks. (Applause.) We're all on the same wavelength, right?"

The military voted for me, so we're on the same wavelength right?

He's a hundred times the orator that Trump is. Can we simply spray tan him and tell everyone he's POTUS?
I'm most impressed that he's a person from professional sports making these points. IMHO, the majority of sportsmen and -women prefer to remain silent on anything political and pretend sport and politics have nothing to do with each other which is obviously wrong. Popovich has my huge respect for raising his voice loud and clear.

Already predicted but this will clearly be the most thin-skinned administration ever seen. The big orange goof will probably need cardiac surgery soon enough if he keeps stressing out over so many little things.

America - Lolz.

What was the MArtin Luther King statue bit, Spicer mentioned?

I assume that was actual fake reporting

Looked like a genuine mistake to me. He owed up, apologised and put out corrections several times.
Mmmm

See this is what we need to be careful off. While Trumps team will attempt to spin everything in their favour there will still be certain bits that are actually fake. But loads like @langster will still lap it up.

I'm taking the take everything with a grain of salt approach

Expert analysis (apparently). Wow, just wow!

Interesting but probably gives team Trump far too much credit. Much more likely IMHO that he threw a massive tantrum and sent your man out with a flea in his ear to give the press a good slapping for daring to publish anything even slightly critical. Spicer had that sweaty, shaky look of a man who's just been screamed at by his boss. There's no machiavellian plot here. Just a very childish man forcing harassed underlings to bullshit on his behalf

Yeah, I think it was probably originally a joke/ tongue in cheek comment because Obama removed Churchill's, and someone took it seriously and the rumour spread and it ended up being posted as truth.

BTW, That wasn't empty white flooring space at the back of the inauguration area, David Duke and all his mates turned up in full KKK dress. The place was absolutely packed.

Well cmon

You apparently scour twitter 24/7 looking for anything and everything negative.

You must see that both left and right side in the media are very guilty of shite and bias journalism?

The thing about the white flooring is obviously true, I found this internet pic proving it.
