Gove's a fascinating figure in a certain sense.
He's one of those figures who is actually quite dumb, but spent years convinced he was intelligent and manufactured a persona to convince others he wasn't dumb when he actually was. He's done it successfully to the point where he kind of buys into it too, and kind of thinks he's intelligent, but then you occasionally see some moments where it falls apart and he realises how idiotic he is. I remember watching an interview a couple of weeks back on his PM bid and you could kind of see him thinking, internally, about how ridiculous the whole thing was and what a terrible decision he'd made.
Most politicians, even if weak in political understanding, are good at maneuvering and manipulating, or at, say, organisation or spin (the spin applies to Trump I guess), but Gove's really not good at anything. He strikes me as the ultimate example of a guy who managed to get himself into prominent positions because of who his mates were.
No wonder he's the sort who'd get on with Trump. Farage likely knows what he's doing (although he is up Trump's arse) since he's trying to have some sort of influence alongside Trump. Gove's just desperate for a bit of attention, now he's slipped into irrelevance.
