The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

Plenty of Americans have posted on places like Reddit on how they had illnesses/accidents and Obamacare/ACA saved them a lot of money.
Yea but unless they post their full name, address, social security number, doctors name, full medical records and copies of their MRI scans they're all liars.

Wow. Great video, great speech and uses Trump's laughable "table of documents" in the press conference against him. There's a huge sigh after 3 or 4 minutes that's very telling. Oof, he uses Scalia against him too

TL,DW? Trump's team haven't coordinated with the Office Of Government Ethics in the slightest during the transition (and they're annoyed about it) and his "blind trust" plan is totally unviable.

The idea that he's in any way competent as a business-man is beyond laughable, with his Brexit chat the latest excellent example of his incompetence. Cuddles up to a market of 50 million people because his arse is being licked by their ring-leaders (in every sense of the word) at the expense of pissing off a market of 500 million people. Idiot.

If he doesn't fix those ethics issues, he might brace himself for a lawsuit every other week. Infact his whole presidential term would be spent fighting lawsuits on abuse of power and stock manipulation.

He seems a bit exasperated that when it comes down to it, he knows that Trump can (and will) merely shrug his shoulders belittle him and his organisation and say "I'm doing it my way because that's how I want to do it" and other than some outrage, nothing will happen.

As for Rex Tillerson, he's commending him for a completely clean break from EM but how honest is this clean break really? No wage, no shares and "no contact", sure, but what's stopping him acting in their interest during his time as SOS and recieving a huge golden handshake upon return when their agenda has been carried out?

He did say he would act as President how he has acted as a business man, to be fair to him.

Republican response?...........

On Thursday, Chaffetz published a threatening letter suggesting that he is considering an investigation into potential ethics violations, but not one having to do with the president-elect’s conflicts of interest. Instead, the House Oversight chairman announced that he plans to investigate Walter Schaub, the federal ethics officer that wants to investigate Trump. “Your agency’s mission is to provide clear ethics guidance, not engage in public relations,” he warned.

The verbatim quotations are hilarious at first, but quickly become unbearable.

On Afghanistan
Bild: US policy in Afghanistan had not succeeded despite a long military intervention, he said. “Nothing is going well. I believe we’ve been there for almost 17 years. But when you look at the whole region – in all fairness – we didn’t let our people do what they were tasked to do.

“I have just looked at something... Oh, I should not show you it at all, because it’s secret – but I have just taken a look at Afghanistan. If you look at the Taliban there – ... They’re just getting bigger and bigger and bigger every year. And you ask yourself ‘what’s going on there?’”

On Russia and nuclear weapons
The Times: Trump floated the idea of reviewing sanctions on Russia if Vladimir Putin was prepared to move away from confrontation. “They have sanctions on Russia – let’s see if we can make some good deals with Russia. For one thing, I think nuclear weapons should be way down and reduced very substantially, that’s part of it. But Russia’s hurting very badly right now because of sanctions, but I think something can happen that a lot of people are gonna benefit.”

Bild: Asked if he understands why eastern Europeans might fear Putin and Russia, Trump responded: “Of course. Indeed. I know that. I mean, I understand what’s going on there.”

On the Middle East and Jared Kushner
Bild: Trump said that he would appoint Jared Kushner, his son-in-law, to broker a Middle East peace deal. Asked what role Kushner would play, Trump said: “You know what? Jared is such a good lad, he will secure an Israel deal which no one else has managed to get. You know, he’s a natural talent, he is the top, he is a natural talent. You know what I’m talking about – a natural talent. He has an innate ability to make deals, everyone likes him.”

How. can. this. man. be. potus.

This can't be real?!

Historically Republicans used to be progressive and anti-slavery, yes this is true, originally the party was set up to abolish slavery and grant slaves full rights. Whether that meme and it's figures are true or not I don't know.

Whilst being historically correct, it doesn't mean that the modern day Republican party does not have racist, sexist, bigoted undertones. If anything it just reflects poorly on the party, given its history.

It's like trying to decide which of two people you like most by interviewing their Grandfathers.

That diagram is self-defeating: 'We may be horrible twats now...but look how great we used to be! Oh and BTW, our opponents were once rotten...but are now better...better than us, in fact...shit...'

And of course the obligatory anti NBC and Saturday Night Live Tweets. FFS, such a moron.

And then two more attacks on intelligence experts, that of course he knows more than...... obviously.

Cnut.

But it's ok, because they won't be affected. They're all on ACA, not Obamacare...........

Cheers guys. Was a genuine naive question re the stats on it. I don't pretend to be an expert in US political history but that's interesting. Definitely research worthy (for me). :)

His approach to Russia is interesting 'we will lift sanctions but only if they give up their nuclear weapons' and 'I trust him now but that could change quickly'.

The love affair won't last at this rate.

He probably saw the memes depicting him as Putin's lapdog.

He just wants to change public opinion. Putin probably told him to say that.

In all seriousness though, that could be a Putin command. Putin agrees with Trump to reduce Russia's nuclear arsenal. In response, Trump "decides" America should also reduce theirs (to a level more representive of Russia's diminished threat).

That way both Putin's Russian and Trump's American budgets both have a huge annual cost reduced.

But look how strong Trump is! He's bullied Putin into a reduced Nuclear arsenal and released huge cash flows into his budget. SMART.

He's been on a Tweeting rampage the last day or so....................................

I like how he doesn't want to be seen as "upset" so corrects it to "angry". It's another little glimpse into the man's fragile narcissistic personality.
