For context, here’s John Wayne’s racially-tinged comments (leaving out his gay slurs for brevity):

In a 1971 Playboy magazine interview, Wayne makes bigoted statements against Black people, Native Americans and the LGBTQ community.

“I believe in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility. I don’t believe in giving authority and positions of leadership and judgment to irresponsible people,” he said.

Wayne also said that although he didn’t condone slavery: “I don’t feel guilty about the fact that five or 10 generations ago these people were slaves.”

The actor said he felt no remorse in the subjugation of Native Americans.

“I don’t feel we did wrong in taking this great country away from them. … (O)ur so-called stealing of this country from them was just a matter of survival,” he said. “There were great numbers of people who needed new land, and the Indians were selfishly trying to keep it for themselves.”

Trump is a fecking joke. Incredible that he managed to become evidence.

Trump is the evidence that if you deeply and truly love yourself, and truly believe that you are the best, you can become anything you want no matter how stupid or incompetent you are. Fake it till you make it. How can one man cause so much damage?
 
Worth bearing in mind that 'tough guys' Trump and Bolton both sought wartime deferment while troops from minority backgrounds served what was allegedly their country.

Supposedly John Wayne was notoriously republican and so wanted to live in republican orange county, not up there in hollywood with all those liberals.
They should change the airport name as it's confusing now being called JWA, Santa Ana airport (SNA) and Orange County airport, and take down his statue that's at the arrivals level.

How has this president managed to practically stir up some new shit practically every week of his presidency for the last 4 years? It's just staggering. Now we have the 'was he/wasn't he' briefed on the Russia plot to kill US troops. Either way there are serious questions to be answered.

John Wayne did too and he was humiliated on a daily basis during the filming of one of his movies by the director (can't seem to recall the name but might be McClintock!) until he walked off set and was later persuaded to return by the studio.

With as much of a full frontal attack as they are running right now between Trump's multiple even more controversial tweets than normal and the announcement of the Rs they want to talk to Obama officials about Biden - it seems likely this story about rewards on US troops actually has some teeth. They are very desperately trying to distract from it now.

Yup. I first heard that in the 80s punk song 'John Wayne was a Nazi' and then read up some of his quotes and they're pretty repugnant.
 
The Biden quote: "We have an incredible opportunity to not just dig out of this crisis but to fundamentally transform the country." If that's supposed to scare people into voting for Trump, then that tells you all you need to know about the GOP.

They still aren’t refuting the actual substance regarding the bounties. They’re claiming Dorito Mussolini and Mayonnaise Jesus weren‘t specifically briefed. The most hilariously believable explanation is they put it in a regular intelligence brief they knew he doesn’t read, and no one in the WH wanted to bring up something about Russia to him.

Their other talking point is ‘there wasn’t a consensus between intelligence agencies.’ The trick here is they all assign a degree of confidence to intelligence reports, so if say the NSA puts the reliability of this at 95% and the CIA puts it at 100% they would claim there was ’no consensus.’ Their defense is semantics and smoke & mirrors.
