The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

Donald's advisers would do as well to send him home with a copy of 'The year that was' to watch, I strongly advise that they give him 1963.

That is all cost control. This has been trending this way since 1999 and I'm sure before. ACA didn't cause it nor did it prevent it. The major differences are:

ACA has resulted in every plan having strict regulations to prevent the carrier screwing you over. You are unlikely to ever appreciate that unless the worst strikes your family.
20,000,000 have coverage who didn't before and the country is at an all time record low for percent of people uninsured.

How that can be considered a disaster from the start I don't know.
ACA did change my plan I work for a school district and they still give us 5 or 6 different insurance plans but from paying almost nothing to a good amount. Still not bad and let see if trump won't make a mess of it.

Plans change every single year for the worse. This started pre-aca and I saw it firsthand when other employees had no idea. Every employer decides when to keep eating the extra cost and when to pass onto employees. For many places it was pre-aca, others when aca kicked in and another group afterwards. Welcome to reality of healthcare costs skyrocketing. Blame it in aca if you wish but the reality is costs are out of control and someone has to pay for it.

Reading through this thread, I think you all should stop mocking Red Dreams. You can have a proper debate and exchange ideas and views without poking fun/mocking others. He is one of the oldest Caf members and has contributed so much to this forum.

You're asking an awful lot to expect us not to mock someone who's repeatedly, without provocation, insulting to other posters in this thread.

It's easier to insult and make fun than present decent arguments. Because of people like that, who can't accept when they are wrong, who lacks the power of introspection, the world is in the state we are.

If we could just stop for a second and think for ourselves, instead of repeating what we have been told, the political duopoly would have disappear long time ago.

We have together the power to put the establishment on their knees, but we choose to fight each other and hopefully be part of the winning team. Even if that "team", don't give a feck about you. "As long as my candidate wins, i don't care about this corrupt system"

Unless we work together, we all loose.

Trump might be just as bad as Hillary, or he might surprise us for the good. Only time will tell. Hopefully people give him a chance instead of going full hatred mode.

But if after 4 years, he was actually just as bad as Hillary would have been, please don't go running to vote for the democrat candidate just because. Stop a little bit, think a little bit... what did the previous democratic/republicans governments did for me?

And maybe, give the chance to someone who is not owned by Wall Street. You know, you have more options... not only 2.

And none of the others are going to win. An irritating reality, but reality nevertheless. What do you hope to achieve in your destruction of the establishment? Because you realise that if you destroy one establishment, another one rises, right?

Believe it or not, some of us suspect there is an option you've missed out there.

that's what I'm talking about. You have the wrong mindset.

Voting for the lesser evil its the worst to happen in an election so important.

How many votes went to Hillary just fear of Trump winning? probably millions, and they achieved feck all. Same goes to those Bernie bros who voted Trump just to screw Hillary.

All those votes could have gone to some 3rd candidate, and easily getting him/her the votes necessaries to participate in the debates and get better funding for future campaigns... but no...

Replacing the establishment with a government by the people for the people would be nice. Call me naive, but its completely doable. If we work together.

It's not, though. Someone will always seize power in such situations. There is no happy, unifying ending where the people all rise and form a well-maintained government without any problems.

People seek power. People often dislike other people. People disagree, and get into conflict, and fight. What happens when the government for the people starts to fundamentally disagree on certain issues? What happens when certain groups within 'the people' grow power hungry and seize permanent power for themselves? Utopian ideas are admirable but tend not to work.

If you're genuinely radical on a lot of issues then the best option right now is to back a candidate you like the most on whatever side you align with, and if they don't win push for them to have policy influence.

worse than Hillary? doubtful, but yeah, possible i guess.

Wouldn't be the worse situation though. Sometimes you need to hit rock bottom to wake up.

like someone said: “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results”

I expect those who will feel the damage he does to the environment (ie, all of us), and those who will feel the repeal of Obamacare without I replacement would go beyond this being 'possible'.

It's not justification for something even more insane, though. If you can't quite do the spits cutting an ear off and trying again is doing something different but you're likely to regret it.

I hope I'm woke someday, looks fun.

What are you talking about ?

I just thought some people were talking to Red Dreams in a condescending manner. We should be poking fun and attacking the politicians and the system they have put in place, not each other. We are all in this together after all. Just thought I should say that.

Paul Ryan had a town hall on CNN right now. Came across rather well. He's never done any good in Congress though.

Not really. Not today at least.

There is nothing fun in watching people fighting each other while the system takes advantage of them.

Better to keep living in a fantasy world, specially if your are lucky enough to be a top 10%.

Anyway, what i was referring with that comment, is that if Trump really end up being a terrible president, hopefully he is so bad that the hole establishment falls down with him. A fall so heavy, they can't get up again and so strong people wont be able to hide their head in the sand, and will be forced to take action and responsibility. That might kickstart something... something like what Bernie started. we'll see... its gonna be 4 long years.

So Paul Ryan in his townhall tonight was asked by an illegal immigrant if he wanted her deported.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/12/politics/paul-ryan-town-hall-undocumented-immigrant/index.html

He also had this exchange with Jake Tapper...
Tapper responded that Trump had actually talked of creating a "deportation force" on the campaign trail.
"I know, I know," Ryan said, laughing. "But I'm here to tell you, in Congress, it's not happening."
He did, however, take a hard line on "sanctuary cities" that don't deport undocumented immigrants.
"Sanctuary cities are a violation of the rule of law, and they are not to be tolerated," he said.
"That means if you want federal assistance, you're not going to get it. You've got to enforce the law," Ryan said, referring to cities that adopt such policies.

I agree, some folks have been a bit out of order with Red Dreams. He has a valid opinion

The guys a misogynistic wanker. I don't know whether that makes it a more or less likely fetish.

I've wondered for a while if he's gay though, he's incredibly camp. Maybe the whole Miss World thing is because he just adores the makeup and outfits.
I'm quite convinced he's bisexual if not gay. Audios or videos proving this would be gold for the Kremlin.

Yeah, it was specifically about defiling something the Obamas had used. Which seems to me to be fairly sociopathic behaviour if true.

Feckin hell, he's gonna have the whole of the White House to do it with now. Gonna be distinctly off-white by the end of it.
 Or light lemon.

No shock that Trump and Conway lied when they claimed he was not briefed.

Twitter response from the Don incoming... I'm guessing something like...

He wasn't briefed on the report... he was briefed on the synopsis.... totally different things but bitter hillary flunky liberal media conflate the two into more FAKE NEWS.

Or he may go full on bill clinton is a germofile and gets hillary to give him a brown shower every morning?

Either way he lied his way into the top job so he probably isn't going to stop now!

That stuff in bold. Amazing. It seems so implausible that such a terrible candidate could become POTUS but if logic like that is widespread in the US electorate then I guess it's not all that surprising.
