The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

Hilarious. There's not a lot in it, but it's a shot directly at Trump, "let's see you do this, then".
Yeah it's basically a summary of research on the correlation between economic growth and mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions, and how it doesn't even make sense economically in the short term to build coal plants or whatever, never mind the long term. And a "please don't pull out of the Paris agreement".

But the problem are the premiums they went up 221% on your second graphic and coverage was poor, right now I'm paying 10% of my gross salary for insurance which is worse than previously was
They did not go up 221% under ACA. They went up steadily to total 221% since 1999. Not knowing when ACA kicked in you'd struggle to see a blip in that graph so how call ACA a disaster since the start. 24 newly covered people say thanks.

As for poorer coverage. That's a little hard to believe. We had pretty good coverage at work and they turned out to be Aca-inompatible. I had to improve employee coverage. Many improvements are hidden to the currently healthy person but they will appreciate it when they fall sick.

The real driver is spiraling healthcare costs that insurance has to cover. We can't keep adding super expensive tests and medication without paying the price. We can't have it both ways. Using my analogy above, don't expect to pay the same car insurance rates for a Ford escort and a Ferrari. One carries a higher premium.

I had stomach issues when I first came to the states, everyone told me they had the best healthcare so I decided to dive in and get my issue sorted. Hundreds of dollars in co pays and prescriptions, thousands of dollars from my insurance company on specialists and tests, no joy. Went back to my home country for vacation and accompanied my mother to our local GP. Mentioned my issues and what I have been through and he just came out and said "red meat". I eat it once a month and have had no problems.
The system is an absolute waste of time and money and the ACA has done a bit to alleviate that. Teething problems sure, all big programs do but the main factor in my opinion is the states have not implemented it properly, the ones that have find it very successful.
Dickhead repubs think scrapping it altogether will do the trick and then the Dems will step in to clean up the shit pile left over. Americans don't have a clue about a one payer system unless they use it abroad, a real shame because it would go a long way to cleaning up this country health wise.

But nevertheless one where you have to pay a lot of attenttion to details in the contract to be sure you have everything covered you want to have covered and you can end up paying many extra insurances.

you can have agents to help you with those if you cannot do it yourself.
The main point is that Health coverage is a fundemental right in a civilized country. It is Not a priviledge.

On another point.
It is clear from the various townhall meetings Sanders is having , he is going to run again though he has not confirmed so when asked directly, while not denying either.
In his new Leadearship role in the party, he is trying to shift attention to the situation of the poor and the working class. Should he run, health care and College tuition will be his main platform.

I really don't care what anyone thinks of the following statement but from what I have witnessed over the last year and a half I'm ready to say I hope Trump dies, sooner the better. I don't like to have ill feelings towards another person but this guy is one of the most dangerous people on the planet right now and I believe hundreds of thousands of lives will be negatively affected due to his lack of intelligence, decorum and understanding.

If he does, a significant minority of Americans will believe it to be an assassination by 'the elites', I fear. We'd have a few years of President Pence. Then, God knows what... Possibly something worse than Trump.

Do you think he should of ran as a true third party candidate? He would of taken every Johnson and Stein vote. Probably a good chunk of Hillary and Trumpty Dumpty vote.

It's incredible that people are voting for Republican Trump as a protest against "the elites" and "the establishment".

Fair enough. They took JFK, RFK, MLK and MX. They believe that Hillary and Bill killed 49 people so I know it's bad but I would do nothing but smile.
His supporters don't seem to care or want to understand the implications of a Trump presidency. The majority of us do. They refuse to listen to any context about the environment, job loss or the struggles of a society but think that a man who lives in a tacky gold plated apartment that is mortgaged half a dozen times is going to help them, bloody fools.

The reality is, the media will Never cover you if you are a third party candidate. Unless you are outrageous like Trump, who really is a third party candidate imo.
Which means Bernie will have to make some compromises. But I think the coprorations will have to surrender to his two main agendas. They will probably get their claws into other areas I'm sure. But the fact, the party accepted they failed by not listening to the people, will give some freedom to the progressives....for now.

I don't know if any regular readers of this thread watch the TV series 'Outnumbered' but I found myself very much empathising, watching the recent episode, when occasionally people looked sad and upon being asked if they were okay responded 'I just remembered about Trump'.

Would rather he got impeached, lost all his money and was forced to live on welfare the rest of his life.

Sadly I agree with you. I just don't understand America anymore.

Hecklers during the Sessions confirmation hearing. :D Has this happened before?

Right. I just find the picture painted about health coverage in countries like Germany or Switerland painted a tad rosier than it actually is. While it's without any doubt preferably to the US, there's still quite some room for improvement.

Given the attitude that some in the US have to public healthcare, that is pretty much 'they give you cancer and then make you wait 45 years for treatment' I think it's understandable that people occasionally go overboard when describing how bloody handy free healthcare is. It'll never be perfect and it's obviously struggling with ageing populations but it's a damn sight better than the 'survival of the fittest' attitude of the private system.

I imagine you agree with all that, to be honest. Just using your post as an excuse to air my thoughts.

I do, wholeheartedly.

My number one reason for not wanting to live in the States.

The kids filed into class Monday morning. They were all very excited.

Their weekend assignment was to sell something, then give a talk on
salesmanship.

Little Sally led off. "I sold Girl Scout cookies and I made $30" she said
proudly, "My sales approach was to appeal to the customer's civil spirit
and I credit that approach for my obvious success."

"Very good", said the teacher.

Little Debbie was next. "I sold magazines" she said, "I made $45 and I
explained to everyone that magazines would keep them up on current events."

"Very good, Debbie", said the teacher.

Eventually, it was Little Johnny's turn.

The teacher held her breath.

Little Johnny walked to the front of the classroom and dumped a box full of
cash on the teacher's desk.

"$2,467", he said. "$2,467!" cried the teacher, "What in the world were you
selling?"

"Toothbrushes", said Little Johnny.

"Toothbrushes", echoed the teacher, "How could you possibly sell enough
tooth brushes to make that much money?"

I found the busiest corner in town", said Little Johnny, "I set up a
Dip & Chip stand and I gave everybody who walked by a free sample."

They all said the same thing, "Hey, this tastes like dog poop!"

I would say, "It is dog poop. Wanna buy a toothbrush?"

"I used the "President Elect Trump" method of giving you some crap, dressing it up so it looks good, telling
you it's free and then making you pay to get the bad taste out of your mouth."

Little Johnny got five stars for his assignment.

Bless his little heart.

A fate worse than death for a man like that. Let's not kid ourselves about his money though, if all his debts were called in he would be so far in the red. He lives on debt and leverage with a healthy dose of over estimating the value of his properties and brand. I have a $130,000 line of credit through various institutions and a $370,000 mortgage. That doesn't mean I am worth half a mil, he is the kind of guy that counts this as his wealth and let's not forget he values his brand alone at three billion.
I agree though, I would love to see him torn to pieces and a lesson learned by the electorate but the sad thing is the guy will still say it in public that he is winning, such a fecking loser, can't believe someone like him got so far. I would rather trust the future of my family to my dog then to him.

I'm not sure, but this amount of outrage his character worries me. Where there's smoke there's fire, and whatnot.

I don't think they'll have the political capital to overturn Roe v Wade, but this AG will definitely not encourage scaling back the criminal war on drugs unlike his predecessor.

Kinell, this counts as full on trolling I think

A conservative estimate of the value of the giddyup handle is $10billion. You are rolling in it buddy.

Ted Cruz has put on about 30lbs since the primary so we really have to ask ourselves, did he eat one of his children?
