The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

Round two of Kellyanne Conway and Chris Cuomo showed what is wrong with American News media. It was far to cozy for my liking and she managed to pivot talking about Russia and instead bought the topic around to Meryl Streep.

That's generally the problem with KellyAnne and probably one of the reasons Trump hired her in the first place. She is good friends with half the journalist community and interviews routinely wind up as little more than inside jokes. Cuomo has been pretty good about not doing that, but it always comes out in the end.

I wonder if Obamacare would've got a better reception had it originated from a white president? Because I often feel that part of the campaign to prevent/repeal it is driven by the mere fact that it's Barack's project; it appears strangely personal to me.
No, Obamacare was a failure from the begining

I still can't get over him attacking Toyota for looking at putting a factory in Mexico.

Is he going to threaten all foreign car companies with high taxes if they don't make all cars for the American market in America?
I don't know about toyota but BMW is going to open a factory in Mexico, now I wouldn't let GMC and Chrysler moving any factory from the US because WE the taxes payers bailed them up.

Is he going to send out another twitter threat against BMW?

He's going to completely feck up trade agreements with pretty much everybody. Does he think it's a one way system?

I'm curious as well. A colleague and I were just talking about how Wilhelm might have been the most destructive leader in European history.

To Willy's credit, his childhood was pretty traumatizing. Not sure whether Trump has the same excuse for his behaviour.

I'm currently watching the episode of Archer where Wilhelm is used as another name for a penis, it's a good accompaniment to this thread.

I've made it a few times in this thread, I'm sure others have too though, given the obvious similarities.

Well, good job. I guess I didn't notice because I wasn't so clued up on Wilhelm II until literally last night. I noticed my large WWI deficiency a few months ago and have been trying to catch up.

It also has a sexy daughter of a rich man and themes of paedophilia, so it's a great fit for this thread topic in general ;)

His predictability must surely be worrying for Americans in general if they face any threats from foreign powers. He's genuinely ridiculously predictable in just about every sense: the Streep response was being called as soon as she spoke, and it highlights how obvious some of his thin-skinned rhetoric is.

His Dem opponents should be looking to take full of advantage of this, and they should be aiming to strategically force him into slip-ups if they can.

Just seen what he said about that disabled reporter - the guy is such a prick

RealDonaldTrump @TheDong
What's the problem? JFK made his brother A Turney General! #so nepothingy!

Soooooooo... I guess they are going to let all this slide until... He hangs himself? They scared of him or something? Because these things keep happening, and then they're forgotten about in minutes, exaggeration but you get my point. It's surreal...

Might as well bump up the NYT article Raoul posted the other day again, for the people who want more insight into son-in-law Jared Kushner, who will be one of the most influental people in the world in a couple of days.

Fantastic journalism here.

On the night of Nov. 16, a group of executives gathered in a private dining room of the restaurant La Chine at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Midtown Manhattan. The table was laden with Chinese delicacies and $2,100 bottles of Château Lafite Rothschild. At one end sat Wu Xiaohui, the chairman of the Waldorf’s owner, Anbang Insurance Group, a Chinese financial behemoth with estimated assets of $285 billion and an ownership structure shrouded in mystery. Close by sat Jared Kushner, a major New York real estate investor whose father-in-law, Donald J. Trump, had just been elected president of the United States.

It was a mutually auspicious moment.

First clear shades of all the potential conflicts of interest of the new president of the United States of America. It's really happening folks.

Aside from the eye catching 666 Fifth Avenue, and Kushner drinking 2100 dollar bottles of Lafite Rotschild with shady Chinese investors to celebrate their new deals, it paints a very grim picture of the people and parties influencing, advising and surrounding Trump.

It's a brilliant piece of journalism, has to be said after the well deserved criticism for the poll/prediction shambles the NYT got themselves into. I read it three times, frantically googling all names and parties mentioned, also because the media over here are not properly covering this.

Unprecedented might not even be the right word for this situation, it's madness. Making America great again, but literally only for themselves. While the rest of the world bleeds.

I hate this about politics. The job of politicians is to sort out the country they serve in, not "win" over other parties.

The two aren't mutually exclusive.
